First indoor grow, need some light on a few questions.

No sorry, let me clarify! I had a 600 CFM fan hooked to a carbon filter pulling air out of sealed room. I put another exhaust "hole" in the bottom of the room. So as the exhaust fan pushed heat out it would create a vacuum pulling cool air in. I still had temperature problems as well as humidity. I bought an additional 600CFM and hooked it up to the "hole" I was using to pull air from outside of the room. Now they circulate air at the same rate

Oh right :) I've only got 2 vents that I can hook up fans too. One is already used for the exhaust (at the top of the tent) and the other one, bottom corner, will be used for intake of cool air. I just realised that I could position my oscillating fan by the intake so it would pull air in as well as move it around :) 2 birds with one stone!

That should help out. Just keep an eye on your temps and keep in mind that HPS run hotter than MH so when you flip to flower your temps will be higher than they are now.

I've been checking out some growjournals and see a lot of people germinate and then putting them into their grow medium. Since I will be using soil, when should i pop my seedlings into their respective soil mix? I'll not be removing the rockwool, just putting the whole thing into the soil.

Also, one of the seeds seem to have, warped or something beneath the rockwool....is this seed a goner? Doesn't really look like that it's making it's way to the surface like the others....Any thoughts?

I think I just killed one of the seeds, the one i talked about in post #63.

I opened the hole in the rockwool up, and took a closer look. I removed the seedling from the rockwool and made the hole bigger and put it in again, with the leaves above the surface. I'm guessing that it has been stressed out enough that nothing will become of it.

i wait until roots come out of my rapid rooters. then transfer.

I thought about that as well, but, since the rockwool cubes i'm using is about 3,5x,3,5x4 (cm) and inches would be about 1.4x1.4x1.5 wont the seed run out of the nutes in the shell before be able to root through? I mean yesterday I saw quite a big change, but today, barely anything has happened.

you'd be surprised how much they can take. just leave it alone and see if it recovers.

Yeah, i'm just curious since it's a seed and they're more fragile at that state but sure, we'll see what happens.

I can already say that this is my first and last time using rockwool :P

i hate it too! try rapid rooters by GH next time.

i would feed shortly. what nutes are you using?

i use EC of about 0.1 to 0.2 for teeny seedlings. just enough nutes so they can eat but not get burned.

Hmm, is rapid rooters the same as Root Riot? Seems like rapid rooters is only available in NA.

I've got the biobizz starter kit (bio grow/bloom/top). Since i've only given them water, the EC level should be 0 right or close to (dont have an EC meter).

Should i mix in 1/4 strength of the grow compound into 1L of water and just place a few drops around the top of the rockwool? Since I cant measure the EC, I don't wanna burn them out.

i'd go even less than 1/4. more like 1/8 to 1/10 for now.

i think root riots are the same. small little dark brown plugs kinda.

and pick up a cheap EC meter. $30 bucks off amazon/ebay. HM is a good cheap brand.

So, 0.1ml in 1L of water....wont that be kind of pointless? I get what you're saying but is that not almost the same as letting them go nute free untill they've grown a bit?

yeah, they look the same when checking them out online, will remember it untill my next grow!

Yeah, thought I would get one a few weeks in. Since the soil i'll be using contains nutes that i shouldn't need to dose a lot in about 3-4 weeks according to the manufacturer.

Yesterday I gave them a dose of nutrients, i mixed in 1/10th strength (0.1ml in 1L of water) and poured 1ml each over the seedling. How long will that last? I've since this morning given them some water because their cubes are so small that they don't hold that much water in.

Also noticed that my "main" seedling has gotten som yellow spots, well, just two and they're just small circles on the leaf.

Something to be worried about this early on?

not usually. mine kinda look ugly until they start getting bigger (3rd set of leaves maybe?)

you're using biobizz grow right? any additives? cal/mg is usually good to keep on hand. i give them 1 or 2 mL/gallon until my nutes get up to 1.0 or 1.2EC .

Yep, gave them a bit of biobizz grow but im guessing it's flushed through the rockwool now since i've watered twice since I gave them that small dosage. But the plan itself will hold a bit of nutes right?

So, do you give them nutes with every watering or only on select days?

Also, correct me if i'm wrong but I guess you use the runoff water from the plan to measure the EC level or do you measure the nute/water mix before giving it to them?

with 0.1EC, i feed all the time. i don't measure runoff, just whats going in.

Hm seems I really need to get an EC meter then because I guess you can't really estimate how high my EC will be when putting in about 1/10 or 1/8th strength of nutes in right?
