Honestly both COBs and HID lights have their strong points , I just think that the strong points of HID lights outweigh the COB strong points by a large margin, imo price on return and yield to me are the biggest factors.

This is true an remember the inverse square law doesn't state the photons disappear they are spreading out. Yes these reflector types are best with lower wattage bulbs such as 600 hps or lower.

1.6-1.7 umol/J for a 1000W Gavita DE is confirmed by multiple tests.
But if I was @Yodaweed I might be asking where the same test results for your COB-based lights are. That would be a fair 1:1 comparison taking wall loss and optics into consideration as well.

I been strongly thinking about building a good citizen light for my 4x4 growlab tent and removing my area 51's and old cxa2590s and doing a side by side vs 600w hps. Just never got time to do it cause I am always trying to get as much weight as I can and it slows my growing schedule to run scientific stuff in my grow area, I should be being paid to run these tests QQQQQQQ

Yep. I haven't stated this before right now but we are actually going to sphere test and offer light distribution files of our entire line up. We have a couple new fixtures coming out as well as new pricing and even a new name. You'll have all this information by the end of September. Maximizer and new fixture are going through UL compliance testing and once done straight to the sphere and photogenometer with them.
