wow there is alot of argueing in this thread i wasnt going to posts but fuck it, over the years when i first started out i to was a believer that fans leafs shouldnt be cut cause the plant needs them, but the last couple of years all throught the grow i been chopping any fan leafs that cover up bud sites just a little here and there and about 3-4 weeks in flower i do one last chop, chopping off any leafs that block out light from getting to the lower bud sites and i must say my plants have never been happier, it doesnt delay flower and my buds are hugh, im not scientist but i think this is a good method of getting good yields, i know for a fact when them lower bud sites dont get no light they dont grow and yellow and die so i try to make sure they all get light just my two cents

That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. If a bud site is not getting light it's not going to produce, right?

Not according to UB. He says fan leaves provide all energy for the flower. He says flowers don't need direct light.
yeah i know im not the one to argue and ub has been at it along time, but if the buds dont need direct light why do the buds that dont get light turn yellow and hardly dont grow, but the buds that get light are green and healthy and big so how come this is and how come when i chop off my leafs my plants bud get bigger

His reply will simply be "Apical dominance" because he read it in some books. But in practice does it hold true? From what I've seen on this site, no.

if you look at raiders grow you will be impressed with all of his big ass buds and not one big fan leaf in the pic, now when in veg you can see all the leafs there everywhere you can barely see the stalk, and then thru out the grow he takes the fan leafs off and his plants ant nothing but buds its awesome i strive everyday to have beast plants like him

there are sum fan leafs you dont cut them all off and u dont want to do this to a young plant let it get big and mature and do a little at a time and about 3-4 weeks in flower i do one last chop of fan leaves any that are blocking light from a budsite get chopped and it works for me the proof is in the pudding

Wrong. That is not the reason why certain budsites don't bulk up in favor of those that do. Like I said, we've had this conversation before because every new crop of (lazy) noobs won't use the SEARCH feature.

Cannabis flowers are not capable of photosynthesis.
