giving up on my first grow?

You need to repot it and plant it up to those first leaves. That will fix your stretching problem, that along with the additional lights it should go ahead and take off growing for you.

What he said. Re-pot it up to the seed leaves.

If you are going with CFLs, you'll need more. That is the extent of my CFL knowledge.

I do know you can spend $70-80 at Home Depot or Lowe's and get a cheap 100W or 150W HPS floodlight that will make your plant much, much happier.
 
I prob wouldn't nute it until it got its first set of 5 leave or even more since miracle grow already has time released nutes in it.

I would def. repot it and at least bury it a few cm below the first two round leaves. Also be careful how often you water it. I know from experience miracle grow has a tendency to burn the hell outta seedlings if you over water(this might have been discussed, excuse me but I haven't paid much attention to this thread).

Sorry for offending. I assumed that he was underage and that his mom didn't quite know what he was up to. If it's a situation of adult kids and the mom fully understands... By all means, blood is thicker than water. She would be a much more trustworthy partner than any friend would.

Again, sorry, I just saw "mom's house" and "she thinks they are cute" and jumped to conclusions.

Get rid of that and start all over again, find a proper space for your plant, build a grow tent or a grow box, forget the miracle grow, go soiless mix, buy some nutrients and get a better lamp.

more lights, fans and add some silica blast.... silicon helps increase thickness of stems...

i just took these pics of my plant and i am getting 4 more seeds ready to plant. i dont need too many plants cause i wouldnt be using too much since my landlord can enter my apt. anytime i am home or not home !i am going to wrap foil around the inside of the bucket for equal light and heat. this is almost 4 weeks from germination. i appreciate all of you guys help.

yeh mylar is probably better, but i know what its like to start with meager beginnings, lol. Use what u can work with man, youd be surprised what you can do when you have to improvise. N everyone thats tellin u to trash the plant, just plug your ears n go LALALALALALALALALA, lol. Any plant is salvageable as long as its still alive. Take the advice of your colleagues tryin to help the little fucker along though, replanting it up to the first set of leaves is a great idea, itll stop the need for you to prop your plant up altogether, n u can proceed as normal with it. N if your usin MG, you really dont wanna use any nutes at all, unless the NPK ratio is EXTREMELY low. youll end up burnin your plants, no matter what the age is.

Obviously your plant is doing lousy/terrible. IF you really wanna try and save it, maybe start a thread. I'm guessin' that's not a grow compatible bulb, for one thing?
