GrowCab Specs
When it was first beamed up to me it looked it this:
After a few trial runs and different setups I finally had the perfect model. Remembering that any grow area needs moving air, cool air being pulled in from below, and hot air being sucked out above I came up with this design.
I'll start at the top.
Squirrel Cage fan sucking air from top shelf around ballast and bulb. It wasnt easy to find, but after destruction of a few room purifiers from walmart I found what I was looking for, cut the hole out uptop and stuck it right in..Next!
I cut a shelf out and made a heat sheild from a picture frame. I used the glass as a heat barrier, and screwed the frame onto the shelf.
The white fan used to be screwed to the bottom of the shelf and it used to rotate and circulate the air great, but the heat caused the plastic to warp and the screwes would no longer hold! (oh no)
so I strapped the cord to a 'hanger' on the top shelf and suspended the fan from the side of the shelf, it doesnt block light over there and air still moves around the box
Next I cut intake holes, and stuck a 4" round booster fan in the side. I have a thermometer and hygrometer on the side, at plant level as well.
I added ducting to the side of the fan so it would pull the cool air at ground level.
When all goes well, I have plenty of space for BIG PLANTS, and tiny clones, the plants have about 20" of head space, and bcuz of the heat barrier and all of thw fans working together the temps never rise above 80*F except in the summer time.
And on the bottom I have plenty of space for storage and for all of my goodies that I picked up on my travels through space.
Altogether I think the martians have given me an ultimate gift from infinte intellegence!

my plan was to clone/germ on the bottom with some CFLs then the rest would be for veg/flower on a 250hps. my ownly problem was figuring out the air flow. i was thinking 2 80mm intake fans at bottom, 1 120mm fan in the shelf to blow air up to the light, then 2 80mm as output towards the top. my main concern was light leaking from the shelf fan.

The grow cabinet has handles that U can put a lock on, I did that for a while when I would leave home for work. I was afraid of any 'surprises'...but everything has been A-OK for almost a yr.
I keep a very low profile from outer space lol

Light leaks isnt a problem at all, especially when U use CFL's or fluoro's on the bottom. U dont even have to have a fan on the bottom section if al ur using it for is cloning/germination. BUT if ur planning to veg down there U should reconsider, they tend to have MANY growth spurts while they are growing down there and constantly grow right into the light!

12/12 Day 5
Heres a quick tease of what going on inside my GrowCab on Planet Mars.
Im still feeding 1/4 strength veg nutes right now, but I want them to do a lil extra growing the first two weeks of flower while they are still sexing. And as soon as all of the plants show me sex I'll drop the veg nutes and switch em over to flowering nutes.
Im having a little problem with this first batch of clones, I could use a few extra growth shoots to get a few more clones, so hopefully thats what'll happen over the next few weeks.

and Im needed on the other side of the galaxy, I'll have to catch up with U guys this weekend!

Looks good man those are some dark leaves man! Im on day 7 of flowering and I just chopped up two males, they showed their sex within like 4 days. The others have no balls and have alot of hair like things although I havnt seen white hairs yet. Keep it up Piamp

I cant wait till these babies show me some sign of sex..to be honest a few of em got me biting my nails
I read a journal once about a man who grew his males out to about 23 days of flowering, dried the leaves and smoked it, he said it took a decent amount of weed to get him high, but it was worth it. I been thinking about trying something new with the males I grow this year. I could use suggestions

7 Days of flowering
Well, the Steelers won the superbowl and I actually cheered for them this year. Change really has come, lol
Anyways, after the first 7 days of flowering Im really impressed with the way these plants are growing. The temps in the GrowCab hasnt risen above 80*F since that last time I had a heat spike, and they are starting to get conditioned to the HPS.
I notice the leaves are getting thicker, like theyre going from a paper texture to more of a silky texture, and the blades on the leaves are getting thinner. The branches are starting to stretch out and reach for the light as well.
I spent some time this past weekend lollipopping the plants, and as sexual as that may sound, it was not. I cut away a lot of really nice green growth, a few of them went to a fresh batch of clones and the rest is drying out, waiting to be thrown in the dried leaves pile.
I also feel like Ive been short handing U guys on the pics too so Ive stepped my game up there too...pics are on da way!
