I thought I would post a little on the harvest. Once the plant looks to be ready (trichs and pistils) I start to flush with water and molasses. I have given the plants some molasses for the past month and a half already so they should be sweet.
When I think it's done, I start the harvest by branch starting at the top and working my way through the entire plant. Sometimes some branches take longer than others and they get left on the plant or I get tired/lazy and need some time between trimming sessions. I use to cut branches and trim them green but I have since hung them up to dry for about a week.
Once the outside is dry but the stems still are bendable, I take them to be trimmed. Once trimmed up I put them into glass bottles for the final cure, burping the bottles at least once a day until they are the way I want (sticky and a little moist, not dry but smokable).
I want to thank FDD for his many tutorials and online help desk as well as Hodgegrows, and TLD. Thx to all the many participants of my journal too.
As far as smoke reports I will be posting those in the near future. I have had some good reports from people on the JS series. In the early days I had to cut off some buds prematurely due to bud rot and pillars so that bud was not rated so high (6-7 out of 10 and not much smell [WTF]). Since then, I have receivedgood comments for the slightly cured (1-2 wks) bud even when it's not fully cured. I am going to be testing the HJ soon and that is going to be interesting. Initially a bit airy, it has become denser and more resinous.
Stay tuned
