Hairy's 1st AeroGarden grow!

They like the bottled water. They have perked up quite a bit. Maybe that's been the problem. It was going really good until I switched to tap water.

Can anybody help me out here? I am using Fox Farm and Week 6 of their feeding schedule. When I mix it with bottled water, the Ph is perfect, around 5.5+. BUT, I thought I should be running a ppm of 1000-1100 for early flowering but, using the FF formula, my ppm meter says 800. (It's been about 6 hrs since I mixed it) ..Should I add more nutes to bump it up to 1000-1100 or just leave it, since I followed the per gallon mixing instructions listed on their (FF) site?

Any help is really appreciated!

ive never once checked my ppm. is it really really important? i go strictly off of ph, and sometimes not even that. just mix the nutes the way it says and if they're too strong, i'll dilute em

From what the big guys say, it's very important. I fed them 300- 400 in seedling stage and 800-900 in veg. and they did great. I was going for 1000-1100 in early flower but since I had this prob, I think I'll wait a few days and let them recover from the chloramine poisioning and bump it up, unless somebody here says otherwise..

hey man your grow is lookin awesome, im thinking of getting an aerogarden, can you grow the plant just in the aerogarden or will i eventualy need to transplant?

You can definitely see them to completion in the Aerogarden--no need to transplant. Just make sure you're keeping the number of plants to 4 or less, because of the tiny reservoir.

Thanks. I think that's a great suggestion. It'll also give them a chance to recover from the Chloramine in my tap water.

But yet you knew all this already .. Stop second guessing yourself ,, Its real easy to grow these plants ,,Being off a little here and there will have no great adverse reactions .. go with the flow ...

Great thread and great looking plants. I just started my own grow and found yours very interesting. Looking forward to finding out a yield. Great job with the female to male ratio.

carbon filters that attach to your faucet, or entire house are available for removing chlorine and chloramine at most home improvement centers.

If you're talking about the chloramine, I had no idea it was in my tap water. If that's not it, what are you talking about?

Yeah, 100% female is pretty lucky. I still have half the seeds left. I hope I just didnt pick out all the female seeds accidently. If so, the next batch may be all males...ouch!

I'll check that out but from what I've read the past couple of days, the chloramine takes more than one pass thru a simple activated charcoal filter to get rid of it.

Drove by Wal-Mart this morning and no water vending machine there either. I've tried other stores in the area as well. They all have those big propane tank exchange, venders but no water...I'll not give up. If there's one here, I'll find it...hopefully before I go broke buying jugs.

Tomorrow sometimes, I'll get new pix. posted. They were getting very crowded so I am lollipopping them somewhat as they are growing. I added 2 splitters and 2 more cfl's for side lighting. They are flowering like crazy, now that they are off tap water and are back sucking bottled water. No more tap water for them.

I don't know where you live or what supermarkets you have there. But I buy 2.5 gallons of spring water from a local Publix for 1.39 per container. they also have drinking water for 1.19 per 2.5 gall. You should check out whatever supermarket is by you and check the h20 isle.

You're a lucky man. I've checked lots of places. Yesterday, I paid $2.99 for a 2.3 gal container of off brand spring. I just cant find a water vending machine here. A couple years ago they were all over the area.

4th Week in flower.
51 days from seeds germed in paper towels.
3 White Widows & 3 Big Bud's - 13" - 14" from stem to tops. The 150 w hsp is 14" away from the tops.

These are week 7 pictures (from seed). Tops look good but lower leaves are droopy, again. They are still a little stresssed. I've been giving them a hard time this past 2 weeks. I have a boat full of ladies and I'm going to lollipop them and keep them all in my tiny 1 gal AG tank. They are a bit droopy, They dont like to many nutes. Thay had totally perked up, were eating well and depleted nutes down to 600 so I ppm'd it back up to 1000 3 days ago. Then they wilted again. I think they like it in the 800-900 range. Maybe because of their small size. My Ph is running a bit low at 5-5.2 so I added 3 dropped of Ph+ and topped off the tank with bottled water. I'm not going to change the tank this week. I'm not going to add any more nutes in the coming week. I'll just top off daily with bottled water. I did add 2 additional cfl's for side lighting (4 now + AG hood lamp + 150 W hps). In addition to my 6" fan, I also added a 12" oscillating fan, set on low, blowing the leaves a bit. I have been getting water drops between some of the leaves. Don't know what else to call them. The fan should keep them dry. Maybe it will help cool the tank as well. Since my water temp is high, about 72-74 I want to keep the Ph as acidic as I can, without locking out nutes, to avoid root rot.

The 150 w hps adds a lot of heat to my grow area. Anything larger and I think I'd need a cool tube set up.






12/21: MY GROW SETTINGS FOR 4th WEEK OF FLOWERING:

1. Lighting - 150 w hps, 3-100w cfl, 1-150 w cfl and the AG 3 light hood all set on 12/12 timers.(Added 2 more cfl's on splitters -4 total)
2. AG Pro200 - set now on Tomatoes
3. 4" airstone running 24/7
4. Added 6" fan running when lights are on. NOW POINTED AT RES TO COOL WATER TEMP.
5. 10" oscillating fan blowing on leaves when lights are on.
6. Air temp- 71 - 78
7. Humidifier - 30 - 36%
8. Water temp - 72 -74 (to high)
9. Ph - 5.2-5.5 (to low). Added 3 drops Ph+.
10. Nutes: Was 1000 ppm - I am dropping it to 800 ppm by topping w Ph'd tap water daily. They don't't do well with a higher ppm.
11. Organic nutes - Not adding nutes this oming week. Plannning to jusdt top off w/bottled water.
12. I will flush reservoir next week and change nutes.

So, If I don't wind up killing them, which might very well happen, I'll have lots of tasty popcorn buds for Valentines Day!

Help me along here guys. How am I doing and what can I do to help out my grow?

Your grow is sick man!! Keep doing what you're doing, you're gonna have a very happy Valentine come February!
