What do you people think about pyramids? I almost swear by'em but my workout partner doesn't.
Pyramids are awesome for you gordon, and you can use them in one of two ways.
Being I'm a female and have genes to get muscular...as in not the kind a female is after...
I eventually had to go backwards with the pyramid theory.
If you are looking to bulk up, you will use more weight, less repetition obviously.
The goal is to make that first set enough to BURN. Typically, people do 3 to 4 sets.
If you really want to do it right...start out with a weight where you can "comfortably" ......but at the same time, not remotely effortlessy, do 15 reps....from there, obviously more reps, less weights.
For me, I lost track with "pyramids."
I could endlessly do very controlled bicep curls with 25 pounds.......and my goal was not bulk, so.....I had to change it up A LOT.
If you concentrate more on form and less on weight, you will ALWAYS thank yourself in the end.
Instead of forever making it your goal to do HEAVIER, stick with "heavy" and GO AT THOSE REPS!!! It's SO much more about form than weight......trust me.
Once you feel that excruciating (well, almost) burn with your palms facing outwards.....move on to palms facing in, shoulders completely still. Think of yourself as a robot in movement.....nothing out of sync. Also, very notable is BREATHING....people don't get how important this is to proper development......it's a VERY focused movement.....breathe in as you release, breathe out as you exert......and then on to facing palms in front of you.
I saw so many men slamming extrodinarily heavy weight slingling their shoulders just to get it up and as often as they liked (lol, that didn't sound right)--
it is in short, A WASTE OF TIME......and you are asking to tear some ligaments.
NEVER sacrifice form for heavy weights......FOOLISH.
