I forget the stats but a ridiculous amount of money in the healthcare industry goes to end of life care. Like a really disproportionate amount that blew my mind. It's where a lot of health insurance companies make their money back. But seeing two WW2 grandfather vets wither away, one of them a gunner at Anzio who grew up without shoes, the other beating malaria in the 1940's, just made me feel weird. Like I'm a total pussy compared to them, they both built their own houses for fucks sake. But seeing how they went... fuck that.Of course we won't instead we will give a heart transplant at 85 y.o.. Our healthcare thing sucks.. We try to keep people alive for ever.
When I'm done, I'm done. And I don't want some uninterested LPN to have to wipe my ass. Rather have them have to clean up my brains. Still shitty, but at least its once and not everyday.
