Hydroguard vs. Recharge

I had a recent problem with some slime that wouldn’t go away so I changed from hydroguard to recharge. I’m shocked, with the recharge the roots are stronger bigger and grow faster. I ran into a few problems with the hg, and I could notice that the stem and leaves were weak. I’m currently flowering my first recharge and it looks amazing. I didn’t change the amount of nutes. Just used the recommended dosage, using general hydroponics, cal mag, silica, and kelp. I’m not a professional grower, self taught and hope to learn more. Feel free to ask questions or comments. Thanks for reading.

Recharge has beneficial bacterial. If you have healthy culture of beneficial in your res then you won't have any issues with the anaerobic microbes.

Also I've noticed that a lot of companies simply like about the makeup of what's in the bottle when it comes to things like pH up or down and probably hydrogaurd too. They water this stuff down to make more profit I'm sure. And that's probably why you started to get the root rot while using a product that designed to prevent it.

Thanks. I appreciate the info. Keeping things sterile was way more difficult than the way this grow is going. Nothing to clean when it cleans itself.

So I use this instead of recharge and hydroguard?
Yep. I use the same, plus API Ecofix. Ecofix is marketed for ponds, but it is a highly concentrated blend of different kinds of beneficial bacteria in a liquid form. In my 27 gallon rezes, I use 5ml of Southern AG GFF, and 5ml of the API. Probably overkill, but the products are so cheap. Thick snow white roots, even with 78f rez temps.

200% agree with that, sabf Is best from seed/clipping -end defense , nothing worse than having ur plants die at start or lose ur tray cause of bad pathogens . It can also be used foliar to defend (same species as brand cease ) @ 5-15ml per gallon of SABF for great mode of defense against pm/budrot and many molds.
