LICENSED PRODUCER METTRUM ANNOUNCES RECALL

Licensed medical cannabis producer Mettrum announced a recall of their product, in a press release sent out earlier today.

Mettrum said the recall was due to a foliar spray, purchased from the third party supplier, used to wash plants which, after review by Health Canada was found to contain an ingredient called pyrethrin. Pyrethrin is used as an insecticide on crops in Canada, but is not approved for use on medical cannabis.

“Quality, purity and transparency are Mettrum’s top priorities, which is why we have initiated a voluntary recall of the exposed product and are reaching out directly to all impacted clients,” said Mettrum Health Corp director and CEO Michael Haines. “While the ingredient is not harmful and there is no negative effect on product quality and safety, we are doing everything possible to ensure client satisfaction and confidence is upheld.”

Mettrum stated that cannabis samples were inspected by third-party testing facilities and no traces of pyrethrin residues were found on growing plants or finished products.

Health Canada classifies this type of recall as “Type III: a situation in which the use of, or exposure to, a product is not likely to cause any adverse health consequences.”

“Clients who have previously purchased affected products are being contacted directly with additional information and next steps,” Mettrum’s release stated.

Gotta love how they go out of their way to say they are doing the recall out of the goodness of their hearts.
Even tho they weren't forced too lol
Ya right
Because a recall is good for sales.
See look how honest we are
Obviously just beating Health Canada to the punch. They knew they'd be forced to recall anyway so why not just make it look like they're doing it for moral reasons.

I realize nobody wants chemicals like this in their medicinal herb, but do you think DG's aren't using the same shit? I know a DG who just sprayed a small greenhouse crop with Nova two weeks into flower. Medical growers shouldn't be using any chemicals period, but they do. Lets not all pretend this is limited to licensed producers. The fact is LP's must meet a standard of quality while the DG's are basically free to do what they want.

I don't buy from or support LP's (we all know Hippy will accuse me of just that). If you want to be sure your herb is free from chemicals grow it yourself.

No one is pretending anything.
It's a news article about a recall.
And still they try to spin it into a positive "look how honest we are" photo op.
I agree stupid people do stupid things all the time but I think your forgetting how mainstream media was all over the dispensary stuff that wouldn't pass hc's sniff test.

I don't like that they claim it is unlikely to have any adverse health consequences, it is pretty safe to assume that they did not test the effects of smoking pyrethrin's and they don't even tell us specifically which ones are in it. Take a read of the toxicity section on wiki and it seems that people who bought it should be a little more bothered by the contaminated product than they let on.

I guess it's just a bit annoying to see threads like this pop up regarding every LP. Anyone else who mentions PM, mites, aphids, etc posts their thread in the "Marijuana Plant Problems" forum and it never leaves there.

I'm a half drunk miserable old man... just ignore me lol.

I didn't say nothin....I don't need to. If ya buy Lp weed...your a capitulator of the worst kind...sorry to that person.

The LPs are producing for patients...you're in the patients forum....it's where patients let other patients in on the information they find regarding the cannabis supposedly produced for them....and imagine how annoyed patients are to have to post threads like this regarding every LP...

Yeah, shady as fuck. If health canada wouldn't of found it they'd be selling that shit for sure. Bet ya they've moved tons already in the past.
exactly!! how much of that stuff has already gone to patients??
it can't be the first time they used it and got caught....they've used it a lot and now got caught.
their punishment should be having to use the crap they did that to. let them shrivel up

This was a voluntary recall, for a product that any grower can buy in the hydro store. The product didn't list pyritherins in the wdms sheets. Sadly the frequency wash is probably used on the majority of disp. Cannabis. Also pyrithirns are the goto product for the majority of cannabis growers, except LP's. If your buying cannabis I can almost garentee your smoking pyrithirins. Bug b gone, trounce, safers incecticidle soap, and many more all contain pyrithirins.

Why go through the pretense of laboratory, sterile, LP weed is the only safe weed bullshit? Kills the argument for LP exclusivity when their product contains as many or more traces of unwanted elements as street corner weed.

Moral reason's....even sounds funny when you say it....out loud.....
out of say 40 Licensed producers...if we could poll them
How many are in the mmj market for strictly Moral reasons?????

They admitted to using a product to kill bugs that is not on the approved pesticide list for LP's. That pretty much nails it right there. Pyrithirins has a half life of 24 hours and breaks down even faster under light/uv but that's not the issue the issue is they lied.
