MMPR Grow op: Small Scale

I'm starting to think HC will let some small producers through the gate, if they let any BIG ones through they will screw the market even more. So just did some quick calculations and with the 13 LP's listed on HC web site the total production when at capacity is 93,000,000 grams for all 13 companies listed. Lets say the average script is for 3 grams a day that = 1,000 grams a year for one patent. So the 13 listed companies need 93,000 new customers this year. That is 1/4 of the total market predicted for 10 years. Now lets not forget the 9 other companies not listed yet and I won't scare you with the number but you can see where this is going real fast. CHEAP MEDS FOR ALL! we can only hope and just another though, what if the Liberals don't get in in 13 months????

Too bad the list of objectives doesn't really help patients. Now that they're all collectively binded by this association I can see lobbying against our right to grow as patients happening. Gotta protect those investments. More bullshit under the guise of helping patients. Nice list of objectives:

The Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association (CMCIA):
  1. Urges provincial governments to cover medical marihuana under their respective provincial drug benefit plans.
  2. Urges private health insurance organizations to offer the option to cover medical marihuana under their respective health plans.
  3. Commits to commissioning consultants to develop a strategy to achieve recommendations (1) and (2) within the next 3 months.
  4. Encourages stakeholders to work with the CMCIA as partners in the development of related policies and procedures.

Here's an idea, lower your damn prices so patients don't have to rely on your hopes and dreams of passing the buck to insurance companies. You should have looked into the market a bit more and not created such a massive overhead for yourselves and then you wouldn't have to focus on ROI so much. The very fact that all these assholes met at a conference where they kept referring to this as the green rush says it all. Yep..........patients in mind I'm sure...............fucken clownshoes
 
man you patients don't have a clue do you? it takes $$$ to grow weed and a lot of other stuff. this wont be free and those who think so are just nuts. you get nothing for free or even cheap that's the world, so those that have no money go to the 1.50-2.50 a g guy, lmfao that will be funny, then you will bitch even more, minimum 3-4 a g lowest and that will a challenge. best of luck, id say just grow your own.

I find the difference between growing and buying is that with growing the costs are rolled into the monthly budget ie power goes up a bit, buy a pack,of seeds, buy your nutes - the big cash outlay is in the beginning. When you have to come up with (I'll use my script for example) 450g*$6/g=$2700 + shipping *3 and all of that times 12 months. So as a patient, I have enough of a clue to see that growing it is much cheaper than buying it. And apparently the quality of "mine" is better than "theirs".

really it's not that great, just a push for LP's
this is from a patients point of view.... bullshit reviews and the story on americanadians or what ever they name themselves is a garbage review that makes it seem all rainbows and sunshine
 
That is the post I took down yesterday. It's a very new site. Don't see much of anything good worth reading as of yet. id give it a year or more before Id bother reading anything posted at a site like that. Takes time to get reviews.

Its a hard review board as well eh :)
 
Well this seems to be where all the..... say "wannabe LP guys" or "not yet approved LP guys" hang out to discuss your LP queries, so as a patient in this MMPR broken system and yeah it's broken think we can agree on this, right?
My questions to you guys are how long are you guys willing to wait in the wings till HC finally starts approving new LP's?
Because really guys and gals.... as a patient on the lookout to get medication I'm not seeing any new approvals lately, would this be because these not a lot of patients to be spread around the LP's that they have right now? Didn't HC say this was a free market, by holding all you guys back from being approved.... doesn't seem like a free market, seems more like they are propping up the LP's running now, so they have a continual cash flow, are they waiting for all the rest of the MMAR people to stop growing and be forced to go with LP's? because this might not happen ... or are they preparing for when it's legalised and your treated as the "liquor store for weed"? because that might not happen either..... So really, did HC lie to you guys, aren't ya a little pissed off? how long can you pay for buildings and equipment you can't use? how long can you small guys survive before ya gotta pull the plug?

seems like fair questions... don't they? just wondering how you guys think of this.
 
As someone who knows of a few different wannabes, I can say they're all impatient but going to wait it out.
Most have already invested well over $20,000 into the process and have no intentions of dropping out now.

HC is doing rejections the only way they legally can and the list is shrinking slightly, but there's still too many applicants in the pile.
I am, 80% confident that we will see a new LP approved in the next 4 weeks that will not be a large scale producer. Something more boutique. I think HC needs to make a move.

EDIT: And no, I don't think it will be any of the ones I know.

Fair enough. I just happen to know firsthand how many of them feel because I speak with them regularly.
You asked how long they can survive before pulling the plug - I know their answer because I've been on those calls.

And for what it's worth, most haven't purchased any equipment or invested any money beyond the application process. Until you get an LOI it's all just intent to purchase.

This is pretty much bang on. It doesn't cost that much to file an application if you do things the right way, so although there is a lot of annoyance and frustration on behalf of smaller applicants, it's not like they all have empty buildings and purchased equipment just sitting there. In the vast majority of cases, the applicant already owns a site (often from the MMAR program), or has a site lined up with intent to purchase or lease pending approval. These people all have other jobs and careers to tend to while their application sits in limbo.

The small LP's that jumped in head first and bought/starting building a site and spent a bunch of money before even filing their application are definitely sweating and in a tough spot. HC has only approved one LP in the last 6 weeks, and has not been communicating with anyone recently. There are some very legitimate questions about the viability of small-scale LP's, what the smallest size is that HC will approve, and how many.

I am not a small LP, nor am I currently affiliated with any LP, but I have been speaking with a great many LP's regarding QA job offers/opportunities, and I'm very aware what most of them are dealing with. The new QA requirements and the recent HC stall tactics have forced some small-scale LP's to drop out altogether, but most are trucking along hoping to hear something from HC soon.
