They will provide what you need. One thing I have noticed about using perlite over soil/less, is it provides a lot of room for the roots. I'm sure a 5gal will be more than you need. Only way to truly know is to do one in a 3gal and the other in the 5gal. I'd personally go with just the 3's, but that's me. Glad the transplant went well, I lightly squeeze the sides of the 2L to work the mass out. Any roots along the outside that get crunched is fine, they will throw out new hairs to form new roots.
