might want to secure your plant stem at the base paper clip and stand plant back up then keep the base of your stem from laying down..if you dont you can uproot your shit..

So i got ya some pics of mine, All ten are white widow clones that my buddie grows. I can pic them up whenever i want for 20 bucks a peice. If i get 10 or more he throws in the bottle of tiger bloom to.

None of mine are LST'ed cause when i get them there ready to flower. He does not train his plants because of the large numbers he has to take care of.

You'll notice there outside and behind chicken wire... chickens like to eat pot.
We have also ben getting massive amounts of rain for like 3 weeks now so thats what the greenhouse plastic is for.

heyyy. umm. ok im not exactly sure why my tips of my leaves are burning to tell you the truth..? lol. ive had some people say it was because of the nutes.. saying i was adding too much.. and other people say it was because of the light.. and then i have a leave or two that look a little bit yellow.. and im guessing thats because of a nitrogen deficiency.. and the nutes im using are HIGH in nitrogen.. its like 24-8-16.. i have a pic of the nutes and soil im using posted in my grow journal.. but its kinda like a catch 22.... :-? the tips of my leaves are burning from too much nutrients... but they leaves are also turning yellow due to nute deficiency.. lol. i was thinking the tips were burning because of the lights.. because i had ONE incandescent bulb in there.. a 100 watt one.. it was one of the daylight bulbs. i know its best to use CFL's but they dont give off much heat at all.. and soo the incandescent bulb was good for that. because without it.. my room was a little chilly. lol but i just got this new clamp light thingy (like the ones you see on the tops of turtle or snake cages.. theyre metal and coned shape kinda) ill put pics up on my log in a little bit.. and i put the incandescent bulb in there and placed it way above my plants.. and that seemed to stop the burning AND keep the plants warm.. i was going to say.. maybe that would help you out some too.. because i know you said you turned off your fan because it was getting too cold... i paid $6.50 at wal mart for that light clamp.. and it has a 150 watt bulb max on it (which isnt bad at all) and maybe u can but a 150 watt incandescent bulb (theyre like 3 bucks maybe 4 at the most) and place it far enough away from your plants to keep them from burning.. but close enough to where it gives off enough heat so that you can turn your fan back on.. because from what i hear.. keeping the air circulating helps alot.. and id just hate to see your plant start dying or not be strong enough over something simple like having your fan on... know what i mean?? ok. ok. im rambling on.. i tend to do that in the morning..... :eyesmoke::joint::eyesmoke: but yeaaa im about to go check on my babies.. and take some pics in a little bit and post them in my journal.. heres the link to mine

Hmm, it's tough to say what could be causing the leaf tips to turn yellow like that. It look like a nute deficiency to me, then again you said you added the proper nutes. Maybe it's a problem with the soil or the roots not being able to absorb nutrients properly. If you put those tips close to the incandescent bulb, it definitely could have burnt them. Get rid of it when you can, it's inefficient and way too hot. A bunch of 6500K CFLs in the clamp reflectors you mentioned are goods. Your grow is still young, and I'm sure it will improve and turn out OK. If you ended up with a strain that is sensitive to nute levels, light, heat, etc. then be prepared for even more baby sitting. Don't worry, it's great practice for later grows when you do get lucky and end up with something low maintenance.

Hey man, Been afew days since you were going to see if your baby is a female. Have you began to cover branches with a bag to make it 12/12 for a lower branch yet? i hope that it is a female mate, you have put ALOT of effort in and if its a male, the hash wont be worth it :( ah well man im prayin 4 ya ;)
I'll try to pre-flower a node in a couple of days, so yeah, keep your fingers crossed for me :bigjoint:. I wouldn't say I put much work into this grow at all though, I just did this for the hell of it not even expecting it to grow 3". If and when I do my real deal grow op, things will get really interesting.

might want to secure your plant stem at the base paper clip and stand plant back up then keep the base of your stem from laying down..if you dont you can uproot your shit..
Thanks for the tip, I was afraid of ripping the stem out actually. If I didn't put a fan on the plant prior to LST, I probably would have.

Damn dude, Hawaii is the shit. I wish I could buy clones and just grow them in my yard like that. Never knew chickens ate pot, then again I haven't seen a wild chicken since I last visited the Dominican. The plants look sick, haven't seen some WW in a while.

My plant is still doing good, and continuing to shock the hell out of me. It's really starting to fill out now; imagine how it would look if it actually had some good lighting :wall:. The only problem I see are some yellowish and orange spots developing on some of the fan leaves and tips of the younger top leaves. I'm guessing it's due to a lack of light, as well as nutes (I haven't even used any yet). I will be sexing this bad boy in a couple days, and if it's a girl I'll run out and buy nutes and some extra lighting. When I have to go looking for odor removal stuff, I'll be happy;-).

Ok usually if its a male the internode spaceing will become more between each node... The genetics of a male plant tell it to get a tall as it can so that it can distribute its pollen over a larger area. Male plants tend to be skinier and taller and the have a noticable absence of side branches. The way that your plant has put on so much girth and the way the main stem has gotten so fat leads me to belive that this plant is female. I am almost positive of that. you can keep Vegging it til it preflowers and shows its sex on its own or you can leave it in the dark for twenty four hours then switch to twelve twelve it will start to sex its self a little quicker that way.

Im gonna ask someone i know on here to come look at your journal and give you his opinion on what to do.

till then you want to start giving it nutes now i wouldnt wait any longer its showing signs of deficencies

your plant looks really nice. you may see preflowers if you look between the 8th and 12th nodes. if not you will have to wait until you put it on 12/12 to determine sex.

heyy president kush.. thanks for the advice. but the incandescent bulb is a daylight bulb.. which is "somewhat" good for the plant.. but yea i know what you mean about them being WAYY TOO HOTT!! lol. found that out.. lol. BUT.. they can be helpful if your having heat problems... even if you just have the incandescent (DAYLIGHT) bulb in the room somewhere.. the heat it gives off is great. soo if your room is a little too cold.. that light would help.. but yeaa the leaves are still a bit yellow.. im still adding nutes tho.. well i JUST started adding nutes again yesterday. because the burnt tips are not really there anymore.. i think it was from when i had the incandescent bulb wayy too close.. but yeaaa im PRAYING these plants make it.. it is my VERY 1st grow.. soo ill just be happy if they produce like a gram.. but this is pretty much my practice before i order my seeds online. but anyways.. heres the link to my page.. i smoke alot.. sooo forgive me if i already posted it on your page.. lol :bigjoint:

I just checked out the plant up close and noticed what looks like some pistils (stigmas?) coming out from the nodes. I know pre-flowers aren't a very good indicator, but so far it looks female especially if you combine the overall "bushiness" of the plant, the stem thickness, and other criteria you brought up. Time to buy nutes and some 2500K CFLs!!

Thanks for coming by to check out my grow. I'm guessing you are one of the house grow experts here at RIU, so thanks again for the advice and compliment.

If your room is a bit cold, an incandescent thrown in there and placed at a distance might come in handy. Just don't keep it too close and hey, it can't hurt.

Your plant is looking much better now; just be careful not to nute burn it, make sure it's completely 100% dark when it's lights off, etc. and you should be fine :bigjoint:. I'll check on your grow from time to time and hit you with any advice I can offer. I see that you've switched to 12/12, presumably to sex the plant. If so, it'll definitely be interesting to see the pics of the early flowers.

from your pics man, id say that is swinging more female... very well done if it is mate! a decent light couldn't be bad for the plant though but i spose that could ruin the whole "ghetto" part but hey, all plants need lights :D

Just keep on working with it and reading its leaves and you will have one mighty fine smoke. :)

She's (I'm convinced it's a female now) been filling out a bit more and maybe getting a little bit taller. Most upward growth has stopped though, so I'd say it's definitely time to flower. I just need to figure a way to fit the plant and all the lights into a single box, or rather I need to find a box to fit all that shit. I have no idea where I can go to just buy a cardboard box, so I'm going to to try making one big box out of a bunch of smaller ones.

Then there's the problem of fitting a bunch of CFLs into a box. I have the bulbs, but where do I buy some small reflective fixtures to actually plug the bulbs into? I swear, all the hardware stores in my area are crap. I can always use my existing setup with an extra desktop light or two for extra lumens, but then I'd have to manually move the plant from where it is now and into a box every 12 hours to ensure it gets complete darkness. Unfortunately, I may have to start flowering that way until I find those magical fixtures that will make everything work.

Man, I can't wait until I start my "big daddy" grow. I'm definitely doing it now, it's only a matter of finding a house and buying the supplies. I plan on growing maybe 20 plants to start, with 2 x 400W HPS plus some variegated CFLs for an extra punch. I'll be using fox farm soil, whatever nutes are good, and as of now chronic seems to be the strain of choice (huge yields, good bud). If I can at least
get 1/2lb per plant I'll be, um, happy.

Yeah thats female you did good. If you go to McDonalds very early in the am and ask for a few boxes they will hook you up. They open like ten cases of french frys every day and just throw the boxes out. But you gotta get there early to get them before they crush them.

As for the reflectors i have found a thread on here detailing how to make your own CFL reflectors out of 24 oz beer cans. I made a couple for a friend of mine and he says they work great. I will look for a link to that thread for you.

Till then you look like you got it under control. It has come along way since i first say your grow. I look forward to seeing the yeild from this grow and seeing your future grows...

Here is the link for the DIY reflector its pretty easy to make as long as you dont cut off your finger and what not.

Another thing to take into consideration is the fact that your plant will still grow about 2/3 of its height in flower

so if your plant is 2 feet tall count on it beeing 3 and half by the time you harvest, so plan ahead when you make the box to flower in.

Sweeet!!! That DIY can reflector is just what I needed. All I gotta do is buy some light sockets and looks like I'm set! I dunno how to thank you for all the help man.

Remember when I said the plant was done growing? It was actually underwatered. I've been very careful not to overwater and looks like I was being too conservative. The day after watering, she blew up like crazy. Now it looks like she's 2" taller!! At this point, I'm not quite sure if it's time to flower, but will probably go ahead anyway due to time constraints.

I switched the one 23W CFL to a 2500K in preparation for flowering (there is also that 13W @ 9500K), and will add a couple more as soon as I have a box. She's still getting 24hrs of light, but that will of course change to 12/12 once I have everything set up. I may even start manually turning off the lights if the "flower box" isn't done quick enough.

Oh.. there may be a spider mite problem. I saw some thin webs stretching between leaves and thoroughly checked the plant. I didn't see any mites or eggs, although they may just be too small to see. The web was only present on a couple leaves and I don't see any signs of damage that wasn't there from a while ago, so who knows. The plant was never outdoors, then again the soil was never disinfected as there gnats and shit flying around after I opened the bag. If the damage in pics 1 & 4 ends up being related to mites, I'll start disinfection right away.

Damn that thing is bushy. If I were you I might consider transplanting that into a little bit bigger pot right before you flower so as to not let it get rootbound. Thats up to you, just something to think about as a rootbound plant will not grow very well.

As far as the spider mites I don't think thats what that is but I could be wrong... try posting a pic in the marijuana plant problems someone there will help ya out.

Your probably gonna see more of me in here I just had to kill all my crop and move 2500 miles so I have nowhere to poke my green thumb around.

That and I just went from Hawaii in December to Oregon at 11 degrees... To cold to go anywhere so I spend alot of time either on the computer or out in the shop welding.

BTW what type of nutes are you using ?

Damn dude, that suuuuuucks :wall:. I hope you didn't have to bounce due to legal issues. Let me know if you need any help with computer security and/or anonymity online. I fuckin hate the cold as well, this windy freezing weather sucks the life out of me. I can imagine how bad it must be for someone who just came from freakin Hawaii.

IIRC I'm using a 12" x 12" pot. So to get bigger plants (hence bigger yields) I'd need a bigger pot than that? I'll definitely note that for my upcoming crop. I doubt I'll be moving this plant into a bigger pot cause she's already bigger than I provisioned for. I barely have enough light as it is lol.. I'm kinda hoping she doesn't blow up much during flowering, as dumb as that sounds.

The spider mite problem is confirmed. I saw one of the little red turds on a leaf and crushed it. Now I need to figure out which "remedy" to spray the plant with tonight.

Yoo!! Thanks for the props, I definitely need to make a couple reflectors as soon as I get the sockets. Where did you get your sockets from?

Kid?
ok then
I know in the northeast US, the 20-30 something year old big city people sometimes refer to each other as "kid".

damnnn. you pinpointed where i live.. lol i am right up there in the northeast part of the US.. lmao. and you got the age range too.. lol and yeaaa didnt mean to offend him by callin him kid.. just a habit. i like to used the word "kid" because it refers to BOTH genders.. and that way i dont offend the ladies.. lol. but looks like that plan backfired huh?? lol

oo yea and i didnt use the Y socket thing tho.. i have just a single socket.. but at the home depot near me they said they had them.. im not that good with electric stuff tho.. soo i wouldnt be able to hook that shit up.. but the reflector itself works really good.. and its easy to do.. the hardest part is cuttin the bottom of the can because the bottom is really really thick... thats gonna be a pain in the ass!! sooo good luck with that! lol
