They are red when they are young. That will eventually peel off once they get older.

I say your ph is probably high because most peoples water is VERY HIGH! My ph was like nearly 7.8-8 when I test it out the sink. I used bottled water now and even that is at 7.5 You will need to get some PH down from the pet store to take care of that. How much are you watering?

They probably haven't croaked yet because you haven't given them a good soaking yet. Trust me, I was where you were once. I didn't check my ph and those fuckers died.

Yah, but just because u had the problem doesnt mean i do, But it is always a possibility. But i dont have normal tap water, The well water i have comes naturally out of the ground and is purified before it comes thru my sink.

I am listening to you, i didnt mean any offense or anything man, i will check my PH. But, i am keeping the nicce and watered, so far so good, i dont have an actual watering schedule right now. i just water it very little at a time, a few times throughout the day, They are soakin up the water and CFL's like theres no tomarrow. i love it, This is so much fun. ;)

Ok, I'm not a UBER EXPERT, but I have read TONS AND TONS OF SHIT! And have been where you are right now. So I believe in what I say. Lets try this again.

So would you say you water 3 times a day? You can go to Home Depot or Wal-Mart and find you a cheap ph kit, look in the pool section.

It will look somethan like this:



Trust me on this ph thing. Read through the tons of grow journals on here and you will see what I mean. ;)

I'm no expert, but I've heard during the seedling stage you should water very seldom, and more than once a day sounds a bit too much.

I did a google search for well water and pH and all the government sites are saying that people should really check the pH on their water before they drink it. That being said, if it's questionable for a person to drink; it's VERY questionable if a plant can.

And if you want to secure a pH meter for like 10-15 bucks it will last you a lot longer than the pH strips. A bit more money, but you won't need to replenish it.

EDIT: Or you can buy what is mentioned above, I believe that type would be located in the pool section, right GrnMan?

Nice. The GrowFAQ is easily the best source to learn to grow. I wish everyone on here would read it cover to cover, metaphorically of course, before they post on here. It would save so much time. And if everyone on here spelled correctly it would make the search feature much more efficient, but I digress...

Yes, very true. You must read and read and read and READ AGAIN! Watching those grow videos over and over will help to. I also don't like how you are limited to just four or more words when searching.

Lol, i will be sure to get a ph meter, hopefully tomarrow. and i do water about 3 times a day, But very little amounts at a time, i pretty much giv them the water as it looks like they need it.

That's cool. Just mess around and experiment. That's always fun to do on a first grow. So two plants? How many cfl's are you going to be able to get on those babies? Your pretty limited in that grow box, huh?
