New CFL grow using Miracle-Gro African Violet Potting Mix in 6" pots

the beans are doing great at 8 days and 4 days, so far, there have been no problems, from here on out until something exciting happens, i will only update every few days, LoL.

Very nice, CD! If I could, I'd +Rep you (apparently I gave it to you last) Haha! Keep it up. I've got a seedling going from a friend, but I think I massacred the roots when I transplanted it into a party cup. The pot he had it in was as small with no holes! It was thriving until then, but now has a bit of droop to the leaves. If she picks up I'll post pics!

so today is day 10 for old bean and day 6 for new bean. old bean has just sprouted its 3rd set of leaves, when the 4th set starts, i will top that set and see what happens. i will do the same on new bean when its 3rd set comes in. 1 thing is on old bean, 1 tip of the 1st fan leaves has like a burn on the end, the temps are fine and im not over nuting them. i might have touched it to the light when i was moving them around, any suggestions/thoughts???

both plants have had 1/4 strength nutes in rain water since sprouting, but i dont see that being a problem as they very healthy and i am using plain potting soil with no nutes built in, only perlite. i water 2 times a day through the dripper system for like 10 seconds each time, seems to be working out so far.

i just mixed up a gallon of 1/2 stength bloom nutes that i will use when i switch the lights to 12/12. i will do that when old bean hits 14 days old.

heres a comparison pic of my hydro plant at 21 days and old bean at 10 days. what a difference between hydro and soil. im not hating on hydro, im sure it was my own doings, but im sticking with soil for now.

Ive stated this before and got flamed but ill state it again just for shits and giggles...
God intended seeds to be sown in dirt...not tossed in puddles...
some swear by hydro and all the unnatural conditions they push the plant to but personally i think you cant beat good ole dirt for taste

yep for sure, like i said, im not hatin on hydro, just didnt work for me, im having better luck with the soil. heres the beans at 11 days and 7 days. things are going great this time around, still, any ideas on that burnt leaf tip?

if it is messing with you that bad just snip it off with some sharp scissors...your plant has a good enough start it will be able to handle it without any consequences

old bean is 12 days old and new bean is 8, i topped both of them today ob at the 4th leaf set and nb at the 3rd leaf set. i will let them go a couple of days to "recover" from the topping and the switch the lights to 12/12 and start giving them bloom nutes at that time. i have no idea what im doing and have only seen pics of topping so i hope this works. i also cut the burnt leaf tip off as seems it was going backwards up the leaf, this should stop that, otherwise, the plants are looking great.

looking god man, have u thought about also lsting them man??? i've toped 2 plant's and lsted both of them even after topping (turned out one was male) but the female turned into a beautifull bushy hoe like a chick from the seventies lmmfao (dirty mind) lol it had decent bud's and nugget's all over and it was grew with only 3 23watt cfl's.

you got a killer little plant going there ... it will take the plant a couple days to bounce back from the topping but keep those lights close and you will be surprised how she will explode with growth soon

hey rob, thanks, i got it at walmart, its better that the springfield for the same price as it has max/min on both readings also, and for the same price, $7, i think there by the smoke detectors or just ask.

thanks good, ive read some on it and right now im just gonna go with the topping for this grow, its very low
maintenance right now. maybe on the next grow.

yeah, i'll give them a couple days to make there alright, then do the switch. this has been my best grow to date, not sure what the plants will be (sex) but looking forward to fininshing them.

once you get your new twin cola's going and they get up about 2 nodes top them again for 4 colas i do it all the time...sometimes with nice hard branches i will do an entire plant like that just going through and topping all the grow tips to get multiples...

Just read through your journal. I just started my first grow myself. I like what you did with the box, I was thinking of doing something similar. I am still learning alot though. I do not understand the method you use with the drip watering. I am using miracle grow also and not sure when and if I should start using any other nutrients. You are about a week ahead of me and your plants look great to my untrained eyes. Kinda sucks though bc now I am fucking ecstatic waiting for my first nodes to show.
