New CFL grow using Miracle-Gro African Violet Potting Mix in 6" pots

Nice looking plants dude. Mine are/were the same age and just arent nearly as pretty. I had to abort a couple. have you had any spotting with the miracle grow? Where did you pick up that brand of potting mix? I think I am going to go through your journal again and just try to duplicate it. Take a look at my last picture post and youll understand why

i never did get to home depot to get the african violet potting mix, so i used just plain black potting soil with perlite that was mixed in it, just old potting soil that was in a big pot my uncle brought over??? it worked, LoL. next grow will get the MG african violet mix. so far the leaves look great, no problems at all right now. they were topped at the 4th node on old bean and the 3rd node on new bean at the same time. now they are so bushy and green, i dont think its cause i know what im doing as much as luck this go around, LoL, but im very happy with the results so far.

the 1st pic is old bean at 23 days and the 2nd pic is new bean at 19 days, they are 4 days apart.

ok the trick is you need one with a growth tip and it needs to be low enough to reach the dirt.... then you just snip off the end like your topping it but instead of leaving it like that you dip it in water and then rooting hormone and stick it in the soil...it gives you a second rooting site besides the main stem and will make your plant bring on a vicious burst of vegetation and flower production as soon as the first roots pop on it :weed:

dam man, thats pretty cool, i'll check out the plants and see if i can do that, im a week into flowering, will it still be ok?

heres the beans at 24 days and 20 days, friday will be 1 week of flowering. that means 7 or 8 more weeks, i cant wait that long, LoL.

on a side note, im still on the crutches, but im kinda starting to "walk" from my bedroom to the bathroom, its kind of a gimpy, hoppy walk, but its walking. i also went to the race track on sat night, made it up to the stands and was able to spot for my driver. also was able to hobble around the car and check the stagger on the tires. it felt good to be back at the track. will also go again this sat night. it wore my ass out and i slept all day sunday, LoL.

yes a week into flower is fine...never do it after 2 weeks of flower tho or you risk a viciously agressive hermi that will pollinate quick...best to do it in the last 2 weeks of vegg before you flip the lights but one week into flower is fine also...

well i think ill wait and try it the next grow, this 1 is going to good right now and i dont want to screw it up, LoL. i added that to my notes, thanks again.

the beans are 26 days and 22 days old now and looking great. today is 1 week of flowering and they are drinking more water, now a gallon only lasted 1 week.

yea when you got a extra good grow going its always best to go with the side of caution....another little trick you add to your bag for the next one tho :twisted:

today is day 29 and 25 for the beans. old bean is showing buds all over and looking good. also, old bean only has 3 main colas, after i topped it, instead of 4 shoots, only 3 came up. on new bean, there are 4 main colas now, but not showing buds like old bean yet.

ok, i looked and all i found was 37 cents and a green oreo cookie, LoL. this is how i cut the tops, but old bean put out the 2 shoots on the side and only 1 shoot came up out of the cut off part, weird, new bean was fine and sprouted 4, 2 from the side and 2 out of the cut.

thanks all, im very happy with the way its going. today is 30 days for old bean and 26 days for new bean. old bean turned out to be male as it has seed sacs all over, i will still keep growing it tho as it has bud sites all over it too. new bean hasnt showed any buds yet, but plenty of bud sites are starting. the plants are drinking about a gallon of juice every 4 or 5 days now, i have upped the nutes to 3/4 strength now. they are in the 11th day of flowering.

kill it? ive spent a month taking care of this thing, no way, im growing it till the end, LoL. no really, its all i have right now and i didnt really expect 2 females out of bag seed, so im gonna let it grow and then clean out the box best i can. as you can see, old bean is popping out buds and seeds eveywhere, but new bean hasnt done anything yet, no buds, no sign of sex, nothing, just grows and looks pretty, LoL.

heres some pics, today is 32 days for old bean and 28 for new bean, tomorrow will be 14 days of flowering. the last 2 are the shoots where i had topped them, old bean with 3 and new bean with 4.
