right on steelheader, thank you bro. I emailed him a pic tutorial if you will, I couldn't post pics in a private message. I started him off with a very simple tea to get him started and the hang of it. I also sent him a more advanced recipe too, giving him a frugal option and a higher priced option as well.

I don't know what I would do without you guys. This is almost like a brotherhood! This is all new to me and after a little over a week I am feeling
pretty confident about this. It's often said you can't teach an Old Dog(71) new tricks but I think with all of your
genuine caring advise and my hunger to learn as much as possible in the shortest amount of time. I have some
good seeds that I just recieved from Nirvana (Aurora Indicia feminized and Bubblelicious femisinized) and I actually
have enough confidence to get a couple of them started.
I should have asked this in the beginning, but who do you reccomend for seed. Little late this time but maybe some
comparison shopping next time. Also it would be cool to find someone here in states to buy from, was a little nervous
about going accross the pond.
Watchout when I get my meds harvested, I will be a with less pain "Young", Oldman!!!
Thanks to everyone who have taken the time to get me started. I have a journal about 1" thick and I will be posting pics. as things change,
Goat

Hey guys, it has been about 10 days since I last reported on my first plant and my first attempt at growing.
First, thanks to everybody who helped me and got me going in the right direction!!
Thanks to steelheader and tooteefrootee for their ideas and to tooteefrootee for his Organic tea reciepe.

Now guys a couple questions as I don't want to screw this up now!

1. Can anybody tell me if this is a boy or girl?
2. It is 15"+ inches tall, any tips on when I should put in under 12/12
lighting for flowering??

I am currently watering every 4 days and just flooding the 3 gl. pot when I water/feed them.I alternate with the Compost tea-Dechlornated waterand then Miracle Grow.

Can anyone tell me if they think I am giving them to much water.
Some of it runs out the bottom of the pot.

If I can manage to get this to harvest it would be a big day for me.

I have purchased some medical seeds which I am going to start soon.
I just want to be sure that I am prepared to do this for real.

I was given 2 seeds by a friend, they were given to him, so have no idea what strain they are. The other one is about 10" tall and looks about the same as this one.
I included some pics. I just took, what da ya think?

Looks really healthy, but it's a bit too early to tell sex. Switching to flower is really personal preference. It all comes down to how large you want the plant to be or how much space you have.

Welcome toRIU Goatman.Sory to chime in my 2 cents a little late but an easy to use organic nute system that is fairly inexpensive and comes with a week by week feed chart is roots organic. If you buy the master pack(about 50 bucks)it will give you enough of each product in the kit to do a complete grow on 12 plants(6 if you follow directions)if you run it at half strength(seems to work as well at 1/2).If you decide to try it use the 5ML master feed schedule at 1/2 and you should have a great result.Good luck

From the looks of things you've got a green thumb all ready. They look a bit wet, don't overwater them. Remember they're plants from earth. Most the problems people have is trying to control them too much. I'd mix the O.F. and l.w. 50/50 with 25% additional aeration if you want. Someone else will chime in on the dolomite. I'd upcan to a 1 gallon (after a few weeks) then a 5 later myself. I'm running some 10 gallon fabric pots. Welcome to riu. And keep up the good work getting away from the pills.
Heh pal,
My plants are doing well. About 16" tall now and I have 1 little problem.
I see several little white flies/knats on the leaves!
What is the best stuff to use to get rid of these little buggars??
Thanks,
Goat

Too early for sexing. Never mind the miracle grow. Just feed teas and water. I'd like to see the tea recipes totee sent you. The mg could just mess up the micro herd in your soil.

I don't have a lot of experience with pests but I hear a lot about "bti dunks". People swear by them. You could also half fill a glass with water add a tbl spoon ( or so) of apple cider vinegar and a squirt of liquid dish soap. The gnats will be attracted to the acv and drown due to the soap breaking the water tension. It works great.

Thanks for all the input on the whitefly/ bug prob..
Someone turned me on to Neems oil. I got some a couple days ago and it
seems to be working. I have 2 plants, both look Female at this point.
One is 24" and the other 18". Do you think I should be putting them into the 12/12 cycle?
Thanks

It's up to you and how much headroom you've got to play with as they will "stretch", typically they will double in height during flower. Do they have any preflowers or alternating nodes yet? Those show sexual maturity and the alternating nodes seem to help with bud formation as the flowers can really stack up.

I have 7.5 ft. headroom in my workshop which is where they will live during flowering except
for an occasional sun bathing. Just took some pics. and one of the tomato plants, they are beastly
The big plant is 27" and the small one 22", they are growing like 2+ inches a day right now! Crazy!!!
This is my first go around so I am still not sure what I am lookin for, maybe these pics. will tell what
I should be doing next?

They look good. I'd wait until the nodes begin to alternate, but it's up to you. You can start flowering anytime you want.

Isn't that neem oil stinky. I hate it.

Thanks, I checked and there are alternating nodes, not a lot but some! They were at 30" yesterday so I put them to flower. I am not sure the strain, but with what I have told you, could you give me any kind of guess as to how long it will be until harvest time?? They are on 12/12 and am giving extra nutes. They are outside for 12 hrs and inside for 12 hours.
I think I have a ph problem I checked the soil ph tonight with one of those 2 prong meters, I am not sure how accurate they are but it is the only thing I have . Anyway the ph is about 8+ on both. Shouldn' it be around 7.0+?. Any idea how to correct this, they are in 3 gal pots and they look healthy.
Thanks

No extra nutes. Less is more. Never mind your ph, the soil will correct it if your water is off. The nutes could be changing the ph. You don't bother with these things concerning your veggies and they turn out, right. There's alot of debate over this issue, but I say just leave it alone. 9-11 weeks of 12/12 before harvest. Why are you bringing them inside at night? With your sunrise/fall schedule you could leave them in the greenhouse. They've grown up in that environment I'd leave em. Keep us posted Goat. I had huge temp. swings and my plants hermied. They don't like to be stressed with big changes.

!st, a lttle about myself, Cancer survior,OLD-71, On OXY for 1 1/2 yrs., want to try MJ to control immense amount of pain. Want to grow my own, got a medical MJ card here in AZ. usa.
Found Nivana and bought seeds and other things I will need. Been reading a lot about how to get started.
I have a temperature controlled greenhouse normally kept at 85 degrees Farenhite. I included some pics.
What I need help with right now is, I have 2 seedlings that a friend gave me, my stuff from Nirvana will be here in a couple weeks. These are in 4" pots with Black Gold, pic. attached.
I have no idea what strain they are. but I would like to try to grow them. Today I went to SEA OF GREEN, a shop here in Tucson. This is what I got, Ocean Forrest, Light Warrior, Perlite,
Vermiculite?, Dolomite lime,Ready grow Plugs,ect..
I will talk about what I have coming from Nirvana later but right now I need some advise on the next step with the 2 seedlings that I have right now.
I bought 2 3 gal nursery pots today and I hope t put them in those pots.
Now my questions are,
What do I do next with these 2 seedlings.
My intention is to put them in the 3 gal. pots.
Any advise will be more than greatly appreciated.
In the meantime I am going to keep reading this forum and learn as much as possible beffore I get my seeds and stuff from Nivana.
Thanks Bill
YOU guys are Great and thank god for this site!!
Good luck with your grow and getting off of the Oxy. I'm a chronic pain patient and was on that crap mixed with some morphine for over 8 years ( All prescribed by my pain management physician) and getting off of it is the worst. It worse than the pain that it is prescribed for. The MJ helped me with the withdrawl and helps more with pain and sleepless nights than the Oxy or Morphine ever did.
I'm glad to see that you beat the big C. You'll get as much advice on RIU as you'll ever need and then some. These guys are very experienced and know just about everything about growing your MMJ. Again, good luck with your grow and everything else!

well, it may mean the same to you. and it's def. not worth arguing over. but, when seedlings are young, the leaves come out of the main stem, directly across from one another. after they reach maturity, they don't grow directly across from each other. one will be higher than the other. this tells me they are fully mature. if you check out your young seedlings, you'll see what i mean. keep an eye on them, and at some point, they'll stagger. it's no big deal though...
