Next and last state to legalize mmj?

Hey, if anyone in "the know" would be able to comment, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm at a crossroads of exactly where to move to (although, the decision to move to a Medical Marijuana state has been made). At this point, I'm leaning towards Michigan, but to be honest, I would love to choose North Carolina (and I remember reading that the laws were quite favorable). So, the problem is whether to make the move to MI right away, or "wait and see" if North Carolina passes it's law this year. Would anyone who knows politics well be able to give a percentage guess (with some accuracy) as to whether or not the law will pass this year?

Also, if a law passes at the end of the year (assuming that's what on the ballot means), does it go into effect on Jan 1, 2011?
Probably asking a bit much with another question, but was curious as to whether or not it will be as relatively "easy" as other states to acquire a card?
I am currently in the same situation(in a state with no MMJ Laws) and I am actually thinking about Spokane Washington :) look into it

NYS wont see a realistic MMJ law go into effect untill Patersons gone. End of story he pissed off so many people over the summer and Nov is right around the corner. Trust me I know. I live in the capital and I am working With MPP in NY senate is has basicly said F.U. Paterson they are willing to wait him out. So honestly in NY likely between Jan -march.

Outside New its gota be Mass or NH they are incased in states were it legal Vermont R.I. N.J. Same reason for New Yoprk and we have money grubbers that are starting to see how much MMJ can bring in.

Paterson is on his way out quick, so it's another 3-6 months
of course, the next step is very murky, we did get MMJ through both legislative houses this time
which may be a bit of a ice breaker, but i have no good feel on what Cuomo will do
i guess Paladino isn't completely out of the question, but i don't get a good MMJ vibe from him

lol omfg did you hear Paladinos rant. The guy is insane. Cuomos was rly rly good for the state for a long time. The son has been groomed for this his whole life. If the it ends up in front of Cuomo needing on him to sign it like it did in July for Paterson it will get done. Upstate has always had the ear of Dad Cuomo son will be no different. IMO.

Paladino may look crazy, and i don't want him in albany, but i've learned never to underestimate the power of a nasty politician
he's a bit of a bad ass, and doesn't try to disguise it, probably would have no chance at all normally
but voters are super mad this year which can create a strange dynamic
i hope Cuomo will be good for MMJ, god we've waited long enough

Nevada will be last for recreational legalization. Obviously If grade A sticky were legal, fewer people would be snorting cocaine off of a dead hooker. The Mafia kinda likes to supply both, and they dont want their sales figures to drop.

Nevada or Utah will be last for MMJ.

Texas Senator Ron Paul thus far is the ONLY one in the Senate or Congress to actually introduce a bill for legalizing Industrial Hemp, and he is Co-sponser on the first full legalization bill. SO.... don't assume Texas will be last. IF we are counting which party was first to have a member introduce a Legalization Bill.... it was the Republicans. Ron Paul is more of a Libertarian, which makes him a proper Republican, rather than a GOP RINO.

Legalize-probably Iowa, lol. I'm hoping Pennsylvania will pass the medical bill soon then decriminalize, or better just jump to legalize. New Jersey looks promising if the governor will just inhale and relax. Last--South Carolina. I also think it may follow the same, or a very similar path as gay marriage.

Arkansas is working on decriminalizing marijuana and making it legal for medicinal usage as well.

New Jersey is also about to go legal too.

Those are the only two that I know of.. as of right now.

Which is just fine with me because I got friends/family in Arkansas... and I'm from New Jersey... so it works out for me both ways. Nice! ;)

peace..

@ganjaluvr--It passed in New Jersey, and took effect last week! It was passed a while ago, but just now really happened. i'm in Philly, and it's very close. Check out webehigh.com, they have a city guide to marijuana laws, tolerance, average price and quality, etc.
And-some great stuff is grown in Jersey, let me tell ya! I'm glad it's just over the bridge :)

IRIE!

^^^ from what i've read, it is law but there are no legal sources, Rutgers University was going to be the sole producer, but they bailed out
i think NJ's MMJ is in limbo until we get through the elections

I've been wondering about the source/dispensaries. So, there's our biggest problem, of course; the Federal law prevents the local laws from being, well, legal. Therefore, where will we get it? Who will Rx it? I know a few people there who are active, but noone who has these answers. Thanks!

this is indeed the current problem, NJ setup a dispensary only system
at some point there will be dispensaries setup, where and who is up in the air
also, NJ's i think is the most restrictive MMJ yet, you get MMJ only if you're dieing of cancer, or a few other gruesome diseases
that was the wording as i remember it
i keep subscribed to some of the NJ thread here and other grow sites, it's right next door to NY so there may be some synergy here
the NY MMJ bill made it through both legislative houses a few months ago, them was promptly vetoed due to the budget battle
NY's is a bit less restrictive than NJ's, it could be prescribed for severe conditions, which would open MMJ in NY bigtime
not perfect, but better, lot of hope it will be passed with a new governor in 2011

This is how the State skirt federal laws. There is no Rx for it. Its a Dr. recomandtion that will get you a card. That card is supplied threw the states deparment of health. Shops/dispersaries/compassion centers then are set up again threw the states deparment of health and they can distribute the MMJ to card holders and or a card holding care giver.

Because there is never a Rx it wont fall under the Federal law.

Florida will be the last. We have some of the harshest penalties that I know of. We're still passing laws that are anti-pot
