NooB Advice

I have had a SERIOUSE problem with nats and crawly things cause i used fresh horse shit in my soil(it is a wonderful fert) i forgot to boilit.....couldnt get pestacides......looked in my soil bag and you guessd it NO BUGS.. so I took all my plants outside (30 degF) dumped em' out and shook the roots free of dirt. then laid them in a bowl while i sterilized the pot and re soiled it, i tucked them in al little deeper since UB is full of ideas (thanks man:bigjoint:) then stuck them in annother COLD DARK closet for 2 hours while i sprayed for flies and aired my room out....these little jokers are troopers!! they didn't as much as whilt!!! you gotta really screw up to loose your plan....really

and the best part is.... i got rid of the bugs for free, shorter plants, and I learnd somethin...:leaf:

Way to go, diggin in and gettin er done, that's takin care of your garden, so many folks are afraid to do what is needed when problems pop up
 
as you see they are still looking great after there transplant....i know some humans who wouldnt revover so gracefullyyy...

lets add to your tutorial riddle...............

see the one with the new leaves curled upwards.....

they are still soft like " new growth " not hard or ne thing.....

I am doing my own research but yall go look too...maybe people can learn to read there plant by diagnosing others symptoms... who knows a week from now your leaves might do thid and youll already be ready for it...

by the way... i see people touching there plants with the pads of there fingers....your hands put off sweat(especially your palms....this makes you hands like acid mittens to your plants... always use the backside of your hand IF you HAVE to touch them... or whear powder free gloves...

very interesting pics as they show that your gardem variables are just slightly off

the small leaves are transpiring hard while the larger leaves are handling it just fine, the fact that the leaves feel soft indicates that there is no serious heat stress

humidity could be a bit high or air circulation could be weak, prime example of that heat index thing I told ya about

yeah and its only ONE plant out of 8 that has even reactedi got a big fan on high on the opposite side of the room blowing towards and upwards right by the door

GOOD EASY WAY TO SEE AIR FLOW.......

if you ever want to know if there is fresh air being drawn into your room..... (if accesable) outside the room where the air should be drawing in strike a lighter near the opening.... if your flame draws in (the more angle on the flame the stonger the pull) BECAREFULL THAT YOUR FINGER ISNT BETWEEN THE FLAME AND THE AIR DRAW AS IT WILL LAY THE FLAME ACROSS YOUR FINGER AND BURN YOU <I KNOW>) stand in the middle of your room and light the lighter..... if the flame is solid and upright and still you have no circulation.

if you don't have a lighter( i figure any stoner will have one...) use a long strip of THIN paper the air will draw it just like the flame



ne ways room is right under 80f low humidity and great circulation... my plants look like they are dancing(but a slow dance)

since its normally the new leaves that respond to change before the older ones and they havent fanned and "hardend" its just simply a wehilt from the trama of transplanting

and transplanting DOES cause stress.... the plant looses all sense of security

the first water when done was JUST water..... i bet after they dry a l ittle and i give them nutes tomorrow she(hopefully she) should perk right up.......
 
ok so Air Flow FRESH AIR to MJ=getting rid of the O2 she produces and replentishing with CO2 (*her oxygen*)

here is some pics of the lighter and paper thing.......

I found out while my door is shut the draw in isn't all that strong,

with the door open(since there is a 30 degree diff from inside this room and the rest of my house) there is major exchange
hot air pouring out up top and cold in at bottom( just like our mother nature)< ecept thts hot air pushing up and cooling and fallin> basicly the same

so class....lets all learn how to make our babies CO2.........from what ive read its VERY simple....water sugar yeast and bread

the thing is how do we controll the release so its not tooo much......

HERES A QUESTION( I know the answer)

At what part of the plants life is it most benificial to feed her co2?? and why??

also the recipe in this link seems a bit large for a small garden.......how would we ratio it down...? AND "UB" please tell us if there is a better recipe or site I know you know!!! lol
 
Alright, riddleme. Quick question for you. For my set up, I currently have 4x23w 6500k and 1x23w 2700k cfl's set up. Should I buy a 43w, or 48 whatever, cfl? Or 2. Idk, you think my set up's fine as it is or I should get the higher ones, or replace the 2700k with a 6500k?
 
Yeah, it's all about botany and using common sense. It's when you stray from the common sense part of growing this weed that things can (and will) go south on ya. :weed:one of my favs thanks ub and riddle

hey man thats a great idea =) what i did whas basically the same thing only i would just take a fat hit off the bong n blow the smoke out really slow and just watch where it goes haha it got pulled right out the top of my door quick, and pushed right in the bottom when i did it from the outside. plus smoke it VERY high in co2 =) IMO my plants love it when i take a few hits in there room every other day =)
but great idea man, ima use that for ne new i setup in the future
 
Ok so some people say it does noo good... others say it does great good for flowering an some vegging.....I don't know either way.....so lets find out

i put 1 cup sugar in 1 liter of boiling water
let shugar water cool down before putting into bottle

MAKE SURE WATER IS COOL TO TOUCH AS HEAT KILLS YEAST.....

CRUMBLED WHEAT BREAD INTO THE WATER ADDED 1 TBS OF FAST ACTING YEAST

MADE AN "EXHAUST TUBE OUT THAT ONE(the 2 liter with your yeast mix) INTO ANNOTHER( 2 liter) WITH CLEAN WATER
make tube go down into the water a couple inches( KIND OF LIKE A BONG

then at the top of this 2 liter ( our pressure chamber< regulates the flow of co2>) is annother tube about 4 ft long full of hole and a plugg at the end i secured to the inside of my light ballast.... so IDEALLY all the co2 runs through this tube and "rains" on the plants like a sprinkler.

THE ONLY THING I TAKE CREDIT FOR IS THE 2ND 2 LITER AND THE HOLLY HOSE IN THE LIGHTS since the lights are right on top of the plants ne way

seems to me no one is posting really anything consistant... do i need to go away?....

to day i have upped my nutes from 1/4 deluted strength to 1/2 deluted strenth.............this is easy to do... you just make a gallon of full strenth stuff and then use a 1 cup measurer pour the full strenth into until at 1/4 cup then fill the rest with water( 1/4 nutes 3/4 water) this is an easy way to be consistant with your feeding........does ne 1 thing i could go to full strenth soon????

my feed IS miracle grow it has in it ..... 24 (N) nitrogen....8 (p20s)Phosphor ... and 16 (K20) potassium

with proper feeding you would never go full strength, it will burn them, if you just hang on a few more days you'll learn this :bigjoint:

your excited and your experimenting and that is a very good thing, I'm not being negative keep it I like experiments

but unless you do a side by side you will never know if your co2 gadget really works, a side by side requires two seperate grows with exactly the same conditions and same strains in order to see a difference of with and without
 
For the wind pressure/flow thing I use a lit cigarette and watch the flow of smoke, but then I am a smoker so it just makes sense to me, the fire, paper and bong smoke will all do the same thing and is a good idea
 
For the co2 thing I'm gonna tell you what I do and it is really simple just crack a window that is in the same room to allow natural convection to pull fresh air into your grow space. (fresh outside air has more co2 that a sugar/yeast bottle can hope to put out)

If you are in a sealed grow area that has a fan pulling air in it will still work as the fan will pull the fresh air in to your closet/box the only concern with this method is you may have to bump up the heat in the room to account for the window being cracked.

now before you think this won't work, I just went thru 2 days of below zero (-17) temps outside and had no problems at all my temps stay stable in my grow room, I have ambient temp in the room set to 78 and with that and the window cracked temp at my canopy is 72, my girls get fresh air and that is all that matters. Is my heat bill a bit higher? Sure, but still cheaper than buying co2 gas and gizmos to control release it.

And allow me to tell you that the benefit of adding co2 to your space does not make your plant do better unless you adjust EVERYTHING else, the purpose of using co2 in a grow is to allow you to increase temps and speed up metabolism, it only makes sense in large commercial grows and I am teaching you how to get small personal medical grows to give you the best you can get.

If you decide to take what you learn here and convert it to commercial that is up to you, I don't need to know and will not discuss it. Not my purpose here :bigjoint:

i do not have a window in my grow room(its a closet lol) but have fans pulling fresh air from my bedroom window and into the closet door. but at first i went probly 3 weeks without moving the air around and they lived, but the day i got my fans up, they got a huge push in growth within 1 or 2 days. IMO i wouldnt mess with the yeast or compressed co2. go natural. works better then any homemade co2 products iv seen in friends grow rooms. and its ALOT cheaper lol
 
riddleme, i have been wondering for a very long time now. im pretty much a "chainsmoker" when it comes to ciggarets or weed. and all day every day im constantly having to stand outside in the snow to smoke ciggarets (live with parents am only allowed to smoke outside or in my bedroom) and iv heard it will choke your plants with nicotine and make the buds smell gross. would it really hurt if i smoked 2 or 3 ciggarets a day in my bedroom? im starting to get a real bad cold from going outside everyngiht befor bed to smoke lol

Another myth busted bongsmilie I have been smoking in my room everyday and night for the whole grow with no problems what so ever. My girlfriend and I are both pack to 2 packs a day smokers and plants don't care.

Please remember my grow area is in my living room, next to my TV and when lights go out tv stays on as well as lights in the living room, my grow area is not sealed and we both smoke while we watch tv, I love bustin myths :clap:

I'm not seeing any kind of negative growth, are you?

When I wake up in the morning I have to CHUGG HOT coffee so my chest stops hurting enough to breath....... then after about half of my first cup ( sleep still in my eyes 5 mins into my day) i toke on a bowl(of some gooden ) it about kills me but I do it any way... what I am saying is I smoke:bigjoint: from the time I wake to the time I sleep....but in small *potent* quanities.....I am self employed now (doing well business is thriving) but I smoke soooo much I am beginning to not be able to afford it(as my $ goes down there prices go up) I smoke to keep and even keihl with my nerves and assholizm just like people take zanax I smoke, the meds ...I dont like all there side effects.... any way other than whats posted here NO ONE but my wife knows and I have assured her the # WILL be reduced when I know there sex... I jsust want some reallll gooooddd personal that nobody knows about and am using this 1st bags seed grow to get all the kinks and quirks out and really get a feel for it.. I have NO entention on sharing this "yeild" with ne 1 but me. I think I have decided to get " Blue Venom " femanized"
