Concentration camp is just a "nicer" way of saying death camp.
Auschwitz was called a "concentration camp" and it was clearly one of the worst "death camps" out there.
It's just what it's being called at that moment, they're both interchangeable terms since WW2.

The most reliable numbers, historically is 5.2 million people killed directly by the deathcamp system and the other extermination programs.
By Obama's logic, thats over 800,000 jews saved or created by Hitler's regime! Thus making Hitler the greatest hero in jewish history amirite? (sorry I couldnt resist)
anyhow, the 5.2 million is all persons, (including gypsies, catholics, gays, socialists, communists, poles, russians, slavs, etc...) exterminated by deliberate acts of the nazi regime, excluding casualties from hunger, exposure, disease, collateral damage from all sides, and other "natural" effects of war.
Thats right 5.2 million state sanctioned murders by deliberate acts of murder by the nazi state. the six million number is peanuts comapared to the real number killed by Hitler Mussolini and Hirohito's madness. (or by Chamberlain's incompetence, and Roosevelt's inattention, and Stalin's hubris, etc etc etc....) shit one could even make the claim that WW1 and WW2 were both the direct result of the Monroe Doctrine.
