did udid u get it figured out ?
if not i got u covered
i been in school for yrs for electronics
get it figured out ?
That depands :P

MrFowlio has the wrong ignitor for his ballast.
He has a pulsed based ignitor and requires a superimposed ignitor for that specific ballast, or so it seems.

In my first reply to him I gave a link which had two schematics for his ballast.
A superimposed ignitor wiring schemtatic and a pulse based ignitor wiring schematic.
If he gets the other ignitor he should be set.

Tech support is always appreciated :)

"electricians" dude. they rate my transformer will be able to handle the pulse ignitor "because that HPS needs a pulse ignitor" they said. (which seems to be bullshit right now) so I got the pulse ignitor and the ballast rated for a superimposed ignitor... salesman piss me off bru, if only you are able to witness the amount of harassment I'm about to offload onto these guys right now :) They will never make this mistake again (and neither will any of my friends) hopefully ;)

Thanks all for the help! REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
I will let you know when I have the superimposed ignitor and whether it works :)

LoL, salesmen ... pfft

Try and be friendly and have it switched for free first, after that become pissed ;) (otherwise they might not be so cooperative)

It might be an idea to take the other parts with you, and request they hook it up to "test" it for you ;)

Good luck man !!

Hi there fellow RIU’s.

With the enormous amount of information I have been reading from RIU I figured I might try and return the favor by offering some assistance when it comes to applying technology for digital data logging, mobile monitoring and automated control and will lend insight and ideas to try and help think up or work out solutions with tech and hardware relating to growing.

From small appliances (like my climate control from my journal) to large networked setups; I have build the hardware and software for huge power controlled systems to monitor and control literally 1000s of power sockets and sensors at the same time. (data center power management)

I build web interfaces with secured connections with the help of php web applications and mysql database back-ends.
I have lots of experience working with web interfaced hardware thinking up approaches and working out techniques to support countless of computer connected devices to control and monitor them. (R&D)

I have a keen insight into seeing how stuff works; I can look at a piece of tech and can see how some of the smallest components work and operate, making me able to work out adaptions and or improvements. (if I dont understand something I generally figure it out in no time with doign a little research)

With an eye on low budgets I’m also able to apply uncommon used materials and techniques for results desired where most would not have thought of; keeping costs low.

If you have questions or looking for a second opinion then feel free drop a line and see where it might get you.
I cannot promise a solution, but your free to try, as will be the replies given.

Wow... that's a lot of good info.

so say I wanted to monitor a grow of 99 plants , (RH, Temps, Co2 PPM in each room) as well as remotely control this set up (like set up different watering schedules etc all remotely), what kind of parts list and cost would you expect?

Thanks for anything ahead of time

Got it sorted finally, with some experimentation. I honestly don't know how some people call themselves electricians... Got more bad advice but finally used my own intelligence to sort this out. It's actually quite simple :) :) Look closely at the ignitor. input goes into ballast and out of terminal Z. then that live wire goes into ignitor at D. comes out at LA (LAMP) and thats where the problem was! The electricians didn't even know what a superimposed ignitor was and said that output was at the port labelled with a white dot on the ballast when it is actually Z (for superimposed ignitor). Oh and BTW for next time guys, superimposed or pulse, transformer will still work ;)

Thanks for ALL the advice and help! Really Appreciate it!

Awesome, glad you got it sorted !!!
I must say, that ballast instructions is not the most user friendly one I've came accross >.<

Happy growing man :)

Could you give a rough top view outline of the room(s) ? (like a floor plan)
