I know I'm from the OLD OLD SCHOOL but WTF over price shit, way would I spend $150 for a bulb I
can get from Home depo or lowes for $27.50 and dont give me that shit about its not as good, cause i wrote down everything that was on there shit and conpaired it with what found elsewhere . F#%k me, I know I said I never Germinated my friends bring the plants and I grow. It was like walking into AIG OR CITIBANK with no lube. Shit growing has become like playing Golf, you don't need a $400. Golf club to put a f%%kin ball in a little hole, if you do stop playing. Weed is just that a weed sorry ! In the 70-80s we didn't have a $200 light set-up. Summer time Hempy Buckets and sunshine, bad weather Hempy Buckets and lights off the shelf. Shit today you have to spend $400. Just to put a seed in F€€kin dirt. SORRY I CALL BULLSHIT !

brick and mortar stores have higher overhead then online sellers usually do, so they need to charge more to stay in buisness. that said hydro shop prices are ridiculous sometimes, i shopped around quite a bit for my gear and prices varied a lot, for example i was looking at the 125w cfl grow bulbs and depending on what store i went to they were anywhere from 44$ all the way up to 150$!! anyways the best deals are online but you have to pay for shipping, and wait for your gear to get there (usually not long). When going to the local shop your paying for the convienance of walking home with your gear that day.

That is expensive, of course most speciality shops are. You can get a good hortilux enhanced spectrum bulb for much cheaper but still a lot more than a homedepot bulb. In my opinion, yes it is worth the extra expense (85$ or so, not 150).

Wise growers will shop around while taking advantage of other sources than Hydro stores .. But in the end , many higher end horticulture products will only be found at Hydro shops , online and offline ... When I first started growing it was a scavenger hunt in order to setup a grow ..

I like having a grow store to go to for supplies but I do know what to buy at Building Supply Centers and other Garden Centers at a much lower cost ...

Yep, if I were to blow a bulb mid-grow without a spare, I would head to the nearest Hydro shop and pay the price just to get back up immediately. I keep a spare though, just for those issues.

anyways i ended up going with leds and t5's in a tent i got all my gear online except soil, pots and my t5 lights. stuff it wouldnt make sense to buy online because theyd either be heavy or break, or the price wasnt much different.

If I appreciate your "convenience" (as perspective of such convenience is different from person to person) I'll tip you... Which I do, and not just to delivery men and waitresses and the like.
I have a dollar store near me, privately owned by a cute Indian family. Always SUPER nice, nothing more than 2 dollars and they sell electronics that can be found at hardware stores for three times the price.
I fucken tip them all the time!
Great service and fair pricing is what I think is convenient.

The prices reflect what people are willing to pay.Price things unfairly and people won't buy..business goes bust.. you want an hps to grow anyway ..bulbs you get at lowes are not gonna get you decent weight.

Another note , Manufactures set suggested retail prices like with any other industry .. Dont like the sticker then haggle , most shops will gladly knock off 10 % and still make a buck towards keeping there own lights on .. Get to know the right shop owners and you will always have what you need at a fair price while supporting your own local economy .. Sad to say but many shitty growers would buy there gear at walmart and some do online ..

Anybody who pays more than MSRP on anything is just plain out desperate and there are shops who prey upon the willing .. Best thing to know while visiting any store is MSRP if your planning on shopping .. Hydrofarm and Sunlight supply both offer online catalogs and most hydro stores work with one or both ......

So what you're saying that for someone to take a seed and grow it should cost $300. I just what to make sure I understand what you're telling me.

With most grow shops you grab soil, nutes, pots and misc items. Never buy ballasts, bulbs, filters unless you get it discounted.

At my local shop which is a long ways away, all the listed prices are discounted with the more you buy. On average with a purchase of 200-300 or more you can get 10-20% knocked off individual prices. But some grow shops offer no discounts.

Get bulbs online. As for home depot bulbs they have shit, there is a reason they are 20-30 bucks. A good bulb in 600-1000 watt range is between 55-100 each.
