oh man. i just looked up that fujitsa scale, EF1 sounds crazy bad, and thats on the low end of the new scale.
Yep!.. a tiny one. Moore has been leveled to the dirt 3 times in the past 30 years. And when I say to the dirt... I mean nothing but concrete slabs left. People just keep rebuilding. May 2013 was an EF5. It was a mile wide tornado.... on the ground.

I was there the day after the 99 event, and it was just slabs with pipes sticking out. It took everything, even pull the grass up in a lot of places. And it was a mile wide. Looked like god put his finger down and scraped the earth.

I'd want to sleep in a basement every night. How do yall sleep knowing a tornado can Wizard of Oz you at 3am? I guess you're light sleepers, omg
Well... back in the old days as a kid, we'd sleep in the cellar for the night... many nights during spring storms. But now, we have predictable technology, cell phone alarms from the NWS for Tornado Warnings, etc. It's not that bad.... well, I have had 2 roofs in the past 4 years, but... it's just part of living in Oklahoma. I love it here, and prob won't ever leave, even tho I have lived in other places in the World (mostly Middle East). But, this is my home.

Dudes .. Look at this brass ball pilot that made an attempt to land right as it was hitting OKC... I think he prob was about to divert, but made a decision that he could make it. I've never seen an approach pattern like that....

I've never met a sane pilot. Pretty sure jumbo brass balls are standard issue when they get their pilots license. Fun guys to drink with as the stories are epic. Bet this guy is in a bar laughing right now about how close they came to being a lawn dart.

Yep... My ex father in law retired as a Captain for SouthWest.... them dudes are crazy. His days of a crop-duster (early career)... He kept hearing this clicking noise every time he pulled up and turned... he was hitting the goddamn high line wires with the wing tip. He still flies to this day at 76.... he has his own private plane, and was granted the rare Orville Wright award for 50 years of flight service.. pretty cool. He's a complete dick, but I still like talking to him.

Well that was an intense five minutes. The only good thing about these spring storms is that winter is gone! These cold overcast days are driving me batshit crazy.

Only 4 months away...counting the days.View attachment 5264751
Is this a fav vacation spot, or a time share?... we've thought about a second home on the beach, but concluded that renting a place for a month if we needed to get away was much cheaper. No property taxes, repairs, HOA fees, etc. We have an available place in Daytona for $1500 a month on the golf course and a mile from the beach, so I think that's what we're gonna do. ... They are friends of ours that don't live there, but inherited it. They live in Montana.. we just went there a few weeks ago... and we'll be back. I needs my waves crashing, and fresh seafood.

This is Kiska Beach in Venice Beach Florida (PCB). We have the same house rental we get every year a block from Kiska Beach ($1700/week sleeps eight) away from the big condos and big crowds. More than happy to share the listing. Last summer we broke from the norm and did a tour of beaches starting at Pensacola, then Ft. Walton, Navarre, Okaloosa Island Destin and Panama City Beach. A different beach every day. Couple of good days but mainly fought seaweed, big waves and Jellyfish everywhere but PCB. Our whole year revolves around this vacation week. Its a long drive but well worth it.
