The older days.......Timothy Leary " Turn on, tune in, drop out " . I always had a close friend as my " tester ", advisor.....he knew what I liked. Always preferred terra firm's bounty. It was a sad day when Uncle Kenny passed. The memorial at the McDonald theater was cool but really sad. I was fortunate as a youngster to get invited by Kenny and MG to the millennium party at the farm. Meeting in person most of the icons of my pretty much childhood tour years was incredible. Having Ken and Mountain Girl force me to pick out a day-glo, obnoxious costume in the costume room (for lack of better term) next to Ken’s, I guess office(?) before they busted out the Kool aid was one of the most epic experiences of my life. Not to mention I had just met Owsley and Babbs among others. I played the thunder machine, rode on the the back of the bus out of the bus barn and we had a bonfire in the rain. Everyone asked why I didn’t go to Phish in Florida. (~);} I didn’t come down from that cup I sipped for days. I’m too young to have experienced an acid test, but I’d never trade that experience for anything in the world.
So cool dude... didn't get a ride on the bus did ya? "FURTHER" ? My only events like that were hooking up with Ozzie and BOC.Enjoyed a lot of the books from Kesey and wound up sending Babs an email back in 2017. To my surprise he replied to me. I'll include what he said here as it's not personal; it was just me saying "hello" and asking about his books so I could find them.
thanks for the nice email. Yes, I have a book out, Who Shot
The Water Buffalo, a novel about a Marine Corps helicopter squadron
in Vietnam in 62-63. There is a facebook page called Who Shot The
Water Buffalo and also a lot about the book at
.
Kesey and I also worked together on a novel called Last Go Round,
takes place at the Pendleton Roundup in 1911. It's a real good read.
