Push or Pull through carbon scrubber

that was my point it works fine pushing....my filter is off ebay im 4 weeks into flower with 4 plants in a 4 foot wide by 8 foot long tent and no problems with smell, a little surprised as the filter size is a little small for my tent but to date all is good-)

Pushing through the filter creates positive pressure in the grow room, and I know you've heard the old adage 'maintain negative pressure in your grow room'.

Do what you will, but the filter was designed and works most effectively if air is pulled through it and negative pressure is maintained. The way I do it airleaks suck into my room and get scrubbed. The way you do it airleaks are blowing smelly air around without that air being scrubbed.

Your fan is straining harder to move less air by pushing through a filter instead of pulling, and your filter will have reduced life because it isn't being used as it was fully intended.

Do what you will, but know that the facts have been laid out and you're choosing to do it incorrectly.

I will add that there are positive pressure systems out there but I think most of them are negative...

I guess whatever works for your system and budget :-)

watch this video on how to take a carbon filter, put it into a box, and make it not only scrub the smells but make the output very silent , its a 2fer deal

act
Pull.

You want the same pressure on both sides of the carbon so that the air gets evenly filtered.

Pushing through the filter causes high pressure on one side and low on the other, which isn't optimal.

Bernoulli, like the other guy said.
actually that is optimal because high pressure goes to low pressure naturally so it actually just reduces the overall resistance of the filter and causes the air to be forced out, i find it uses the filter more evenly but your fans die alot faster, and good fans are expensive, filters are cheap..

buuuut
basically, you need a pre dust filter. you can take the pre filter cit it and place it inside your scrubber, works fine. if your going to be pushing though, you want to use a centrifugal fan or anything static pressure, buuuuut it will wear the bearings aster still as it causes it to get hotter. when it comes to filtration i find it makes no difference, but pulling through the fans you really wanna be able to swap ends around so you can pullt hrough the otherside. the airflow over the filter isnt even. theres always lower pressure at one end than at the other.

I do both, i have an isolation box for my filter. my a/.c vents into the box where the filter is hanging attached to an isolationbox fan that sticks through the box (its styrofoam, high density stuff they use to make coolrooms) so im pushing and pulling through my filter, i just make sure my fan pulls harder than the a/c pushges or else the a/c dies really fast.

i came up with the simillar idea on my own. took me a bit of experimenting to figure out the best way and since my vent output is very small i blow into the box not the filter, then suck out the filter and vent outside. this is because of the heat needing tobe vented outside. i originally used to do what that video shows but without the box, just had the scrubber sitting outside or in my roof
