Cloning is like drywall ... you got to know when to just walk away! Seriously, it is too simple and is often over-thought and over-complicated.
1. The day before you take cuts soak rockwool in very mild nutrient solution for 24 hours, including Roots Excellurator or similar.
2. Take cuts from bottom of a soon-to-be-fed mother plant. Mother should be healthy. Hold cuttings in a small glass of water with cut ends submerged.
3. Sling water out of each rockwool cube until it's still very wet but not dripping water. Cube should have a small bit of "weight" to it.
4. The hole in rockwool cubes is usually too large, so turn it over and using a toothpick or such poke a smaller hole slightly off-center so it doesn't intersect the "factory" hole.
5. Take your cutting out of the water, dip it into Clonex rooting powder or similar product.
6. Insert cutting gently into rockwool cube.
7. Place rockwool cubes into clean, sanitized tray. You can pack 'em in pretty tight, up to 30 or so in a single tray.
8. Using PLAIN water mist up the inside of the dome pretty good and place it on the tray. Make sure it fits tightly and close the vents completely.
9. Using a cloning heat mat under the tray helps the roots "seek" warmth and speeds the process a bit. Ideally the temps in the domes are slightly LESS than the 78-80f of the heat mat.
10. Place the completed dome under some T-5 florescent lights with bulbs at least 3" above top of dome. Set photo-period to 18 hours on, 6 hours off. Don't set to constant light 24/7, clones need rest too!
11. Now here is where it's like drywall - WALK AWAY! Do not touch the dome for at least 7 days. Don't worry about water, if you've left enough in the cubes when slinging out excess, there will be plenty for the duration. Don't worry about feeding, the plants are busy making roots and cannot "feed" until they attain them. Don't worry about "misting" them, with humidity at 95-98% in the closed dome the clones DO NOT need misting. In short, just don't worry.
12. After 7-10 or even up to 12-14 days with some strains, you WILL have roots. Now you have to gradually "harden up" the babies. Start by opening the vents only for a day or so. After a few days you should be able to take the hood off. Once off the hood doesn't go back on.
13. NOW you can mist them a little bit a few time a day. Don't over mist and drench the plants. Just a light mist is fine. Cannabis prefers a dry climate, not a humid rain-forest.
14. Feed LIGHTLY with Clonex Clone Feed or similar, 150-400 PPM max. Take the cubes and dip them in water, soaking from the bottom once every two days or so. More if you in a very, very dry (15-40%) climate. Less if higher humidity area.
15. Plant the little babies in your medium of choice and enjoy! The grow's up to you now.
