Raspberry Cough and Afgan Kush grow.

No MJ outside, just veggies and other herbs.
Out of the original 5 RBC seeds I got one hermie, one female and three males. I'm not sure if it shares any genetics with the strawberry either. I'd have to read up on it.

Right on, that's pretty tight. I don't even know the genetics of the SBC, I've looked them up but never really found anything...

Btw, what breeder did you get your Afghan from?

Needing to get something figured out to keep a male and a few females separated from the rest of the grow after they mature right now. I'm putting the reg seeds in RW cubes today so I've got a few weeks at least to get it all sorted out but I like to plan ahead whenever possible.

My main problem is being able to ventilate a box/tote/cab with a mature male and some girlies inside without the pollen getting out and getting to my other plants. I worry that if I don't vent it the temps and/or humidity will get out of hand. I can give them their own lights if need be but think it would be cool to have something sealed up inside my flower room so I don't have to run extra lights.

I'm taking suggestions and giving out rep for them so please feel free to post your ideas.

What about keeping the male in a completley seperate cab under a couple cfl's until it can give you some pollen? I would just be nervious about a male being in my flowering room, sealed box or not.

I have heard from a few experienced breeders that if you do keep it in a seperate room make sure you change your clothes and wash your hands before you go back in the flowering room... Aparently thats all it takes to impregnate you girls..??? I have no experience breeding yet but I will be interested to see how you go about doing it!

Well, I have a male right now that is sitting outside, in a small pot, and that small pot is in a big bucket so no one can see it, it seems like you don't want to have anything outside, so I think SmeLLy's got the right idea with the CFLs.

Also, when I pollinate I take the female out of the room, brush the pollen, let her sit there for a couple hours, then I spray her down with water (water destroys the pollen) and just put her back, this is with an auto so she goes back to a room that has some plants vegging and some more autos. There doesn't seem to be any rogue pollen that has gotten on the other autos. But yeah, pollen can get on your clothes, hair, fingernails, anywhere really... I'm sure you'll figure it out.

My first plan was to take two totes and stack them but with the top one being upside down and clear. This way there's a plastic box that can be sealed up and will still let light in. I originally planned on putting a couple CFLs in there for light and putting whatever females I want along with the chosen male inside. I was only planning on having the RBC seedlings in the flower room until they showed sex, then moving the appropriate plants into the box/tote to finish out their cycle. Then I'd have only a few plants with seeds to harvest. The only problem is heat since the box/tote would be sealed so as to not take chances on pollen getting to the vert flower room through ventilation.
It'd be nice to not have to run extra lights but I probably will.

I even figured that if I was to cut hoes in the bottom of the bottom tote, I could let the cups/pots hang through and grow them in hydro so I wouldn't have a problem of watering them without having to open the box. Either DWC or a small E&F system wouldn't be too much trouble to put together for this purpose. Whatever I do, I want to be able to use the setup over and over again so I can try crossing strains and stuff.

That's part of why I was thinking of using the totes.

Yea that would be tough but I'm sure it could be done. The only thing is do you move the sealed totes to another room when your ready to harvest?

Originally I was thinking of keeping the sealed totes separate the whole time with their own light source. I have a 150 HPS and a bunch of CFLs, two of which are those 68watt 2700K ones from HD. Those alone would be enough light if contained within a small space.

That would be the problem. If I can keep the temps in check I could do a DIY co2 bottle inside with the plants but I think it'd get too hot and humid inside the totes for it to work.

Through some suggestions I've been given in another thread I've got it handled. My problem now is only 3 of the 5 seeds germinated well. The other 2 seem to be slow for some reason. They all are cracked and 3 of them had nice taproots yesterday but the other 2 were just barely cracked so I left them til this morning and put them in cubes a little bit ago with smalll taproots popping out. They looked the same this morning as when I last checked on them last night so I figured they aren't going to get any better in the water and put them in the cubes.
Hopefully they grow well now.
