You are seeing 50w low quality fixtures. I wouldn'tcount on the warranty either.

I don't think anything available within your price range will be worth it.

For highest quality LEDs with the least money I always say to go DIY using white LEDS. A single 100W LED driver running high quality LED COBS should be able to provide ~10k lumens. (not directly comparable to lumens from an HPS or MH light btw)

That said....a 100W driver alone will cost you £20. Then there is the heatsink (£20 at least) and the LED or LEDs themselves (£15-20 at least).

Sorry I meant if I bit the bullet and bought one, a suitable one from ebay maybe a mars hydro for example?
Just something suitable and as easy on the pocket as can be.

Ah right OK..
I can relate to that, it says all.

In the real world what sort of wattage would I need for the 3x3 to bring clones up to 12/14" individual bulbs maybe?

Thanks SD
If its just for clones vipar spectra p1000 is a bout as cheap as you will get for that space @ £120
100w 1.89umol/joule

Similar to mars but far higher quality and thought gone into it, better driver placement, much better heatsint.

(never thought there would be a day when I suggest vipar spectra)

I wouldn't touch ebay as there is no guarantee the chips will be be what they say they are. The drivers could also be crap, wasting more watts...but you may get lucky

Buy from someone reputable.

If u wanna go the led route go with these
If its for veg and flower I would go 3500k. U won't find a light with more bang for ur buck and if so by margins. Its a safe vendor. Use what u have until u can afford it.

That looks ideal If you reckon it's a respectable enough light the price isn't a problem, I'm just not into spending 100s of £s

It is, and the price can't be beat. Searched alot before I bought same style as these (quantum boards) and for sure this is a killer deal. Gonna buy 3-4 more from this vendor within a month or two.

PS. if u wanna flower in a 3x3, 240w is not enough to get optimal results but will give yield. If u use two of these (480w) u have pretty much hit the roof and can focus ur money on other things. They are also dimmable so u can save electricity by dimming instead of raising lights.

No I've another tent to flower in it'll be for a couple of bonsied mothers and to train and veg 4 plants to maybe 10/12".

I've already T5s cfl and mh will the above light be any better or am I taking a side step and wasting money with it being a similar power rating of 240w?
Say better T5s and cfl,s and at least equal to the 400w mh?

I noticedlooked at led,s last night by chance they happened to be on a light meter page, previously I hadn't considered them but the appear to be very efficient and that's appealing, my electricity has went up 300% since I started growing, a 660w hps set up is costing me £16 per week, to veg 18hrs is another £16 + fans etc I'm into £60/65 a week for electricity.

What is a 35k presumably you mean the colour temp?
What would you pick for pure veg?

Many thanks.

I grow a plant in a 18"sq x4' wodden box with 5 CFL bulbs in it pot plant..jpg . CFLs are great for vegging and cooler then led lights with no cooling fans. My 2 philzon 600w dimable lights heated my 2'x4'x6' so much that my DWC tanks were warm. And my roots started to rot. I use 5 to 1 like the pic on a hanging light plug. Try 3 or 4 of these in your tent. might work.360-Degrees-Adjustable-E27-5-in-1-Lamp-Holder-Converter-Socket-Adapter-E27-Light-Lamp-Bulb.jpg. Or kep the hid and keep the tent cool.
