Nice Jeff! I know I should go digital but I have like 3 or 4 extra mechanical timers because I bought a couple 2 packs dirt cheap for an Amazon black friday deal and now when one dies, I'll just keep replacing until I run out, then maybe I'll go digital lol
I was using my basic old school mechanical timer until the guy at my local hydro store suggested a power strip with a built in timer to power the whole 5x5 and it’s made me feel a bit more fire safe than running too much power into just a little dual outlet timer lol

image.jpg

so it’s still the old school mechanical style, except I have 4 plugs always on for fans and my dehumidifier, and a timer controlled 4 plugs for lights as I used to run 2-3 lights in this same space arranged differently, but in this pic I only have my new HLG Scorpion Diablo in the timer side, and two oscillating fans plugged in the always on side.

I’ll go digital in the future as well one day maybe if I upsize further to say a full size sealed room, but to power my current 5x5 grow this thing was well worth the $40 it cost me

so I woke up this morning confused also @Rurumo as I forgot the time fell back an hour overnight, but now I’ll just leave it as is if anything since I’m in early veg at the moment.

Nice! I've used those before too Anthony, I like those timer strips.

Yeah I've been growing a minute and just torched a seedling with a T5  it always feels better to know I'm not the lonely only.
Oh I singe mother plants on t5s anytime I'm less than stellar in keeping them pruned (regularly), don't feel bad.
We all occasionally make a lil fumble, it’s certainly not just y’all as experience doesn’t always guarantee 100% perfection but some people here on RIU act like they don’t make mistakes but I don’t think that’s very honest or realistic.

I’ve made some newbie mistakes after I took a few years off gardening like messing up germination with some older seeds that needed more TLC than I gave them and later also letting tops of plants grow into my old CMH setup after a couple days of laziness lol

I just run my strips off my timer :)

Honestly I'm a worse grower now than I was when I first started. I was so scared and careful at first. Now I know how hard they are to kill and how much neglect and abuse they can take I've gotten lazy. That's what is so inspiring about @Rurumo growing a very long time and still experimenting, learning and teaching. I want to be that but being 'forced' to smoke my grow  keeps me less motivated

A power strip with integral timer seems like good idea to minimize clutter but amps are amps.

It's irrelevant whether the timer is part of a power strip or separate, the same current with flow through either.

That’s what I was trying to tell the dude at the hydro store but I wasn’t completely positive so i guess I just liked the convenience too but hey my old method never caused a fire in many years further proving your point lol

It's super easy to let little things here and there slip, then before you know it, you end up with PM or spider mites or deficiencies. That has happened to me many times- I've definitely had my ups and downs with plant care. I think keeping a journal helps motivate me to stay on a good schedule, but it's okay to slack off from time to time, like you said, they can take a lot of abuse! Trying out different strains, and different methods/fertilizers/media, etc, keeps things fresh for me. This hobby requires a major commitment of time, labor, and financial resources, so I'm always trying to think of ways to keep myself motivated over the long term. Cannabis is so readily available at such low prices that I feel like I should go the extra mile and really grow for quality and whatever terps I'm currently craving, I think you really have to love growing to stick with it, especially if you're handwatering coco...

The plants were fine skipping one meal, but they really sucked up the nutrient solution when I fed them again. I ended up having to make more to really flush them out-and the runoff almost looked like coffee. Amazing to see how a single skipped feeding can cause so much build up!

The girls were praying hard last night, which people attribute to a lot of things, but honestly I'm not convinced of any single theory as to why they do it. I've heard people say it's in response to too much or too little light, but then I'll see a situation where the plants/limbs are at various distances to the light, some much too close (bordering on light burn territory) and some 3 feet away, but they are all praying. Personally, I think that plants do it when they are being fed properly and have an ideal salt/fluid balance-I think it's simply that the leaves are more responsive under ideal conditions.

Anyway, the girls are looking nice and healthy at 4 weeks into 12/12, nice bud formation and a few plants should make good colas too.

Sweet Tooth #4-this is a really nice plant and the terps are unlike any other right now- such a deep, heavy grapefruit with black pepper.

Cinderella 99-this plant is a nice grower, fingers crossed on resin + terps.

Same C99

This is what I've been calling the Juicy Fruit pheno, it's definitely the standout as far as terps, plus is has better early resin development and is quite sticky to touch. One other difference is that it has probably double the # of hairs, packed much more closely together than the previous pheno.

Same plant-I think lol

20221106_181031.jpg
I like this pic for some reason, I lost track of which plant it's from, but I think it's from the non-juicy fruit C99-it has fewer and thicker stigmas than the JF pheno.

This is the Sweet Tooth #4 bud that is preggers from my mixed C99 male pollen.

Looking at these photos, I'm going to slightly reduce my EC. I've noticed that even a small addition of amino acids, whether from Corn Steep Liquor like these plants, Spirulina, soy hydrolysate or any other will make a plant overly green quickly if you're not careful.

Bud Wiser from Proseeds in the UK just sent me a package of freebies, separate from my main order. I picked up 50 seeds each of Tom Hill Haze and Original Haze (both Madmac repros) from proseeds not too long ago, and he said he would be sending some freebies. WOW!! Check out what he sent me:

I can't believe my luck lately. First Swami sends me a Vietnamese Black cross as a freebie, and now Bud sends me Lieu Hanh (V. Black x Nevil's Haze)-(here is the description) https://proseeds.co.uk/index.php/product/lieu-hanh/, PLUS two different Thai and one Hmong cross to Tom Hill Haze and Nevil's Haze. This is one of my all time favorite set of freebies, imagine a room with all 40 of these going at once!! What a beautiful thought!

sorry I haven't been on in a while, been having some health issues. Good to see your progress!
I hadn't seen you around in a while and was wondering if it was something like that, I hope you are feeling better! I can relate to chronic health issues (and to a bad bout of Covid last year), good health really is the most important thing, I would take it over any amount of money.

Man I had covid last year and I thought I’d never recover

weeks of symptoms as I had a relapse of sorts

plus I am a chronic pain patient been in multiple accidents so a good day pain free is like winning the lottery to me and certain strains give me such relief which I why I tend to use indicas more but I sure love sativas for a fun day with more than usual energy and motivation.
