Seed or Clone?

I seem to get a little more weight from seed grows but if the plants are the same size when flipped then it is very close. Right now I am going back to seeds due to a few light harvests from clones but I go back and forth.

Which is difficult to prevent over time.
Longest I've made it was 5 generations, but my environment is challenging.
Then there's the issue of pheno hunting, one must clone all females from seed then clone the shit out of the keeper.
Very time consuming, and space wasting.
This is why I avoid strains with 3 or more listed phenotypes.
I bought 6 purple stardawg seeds and I have got a brilliant endless supply of the best pheno there was imo not so much a massive yield but high in quality

You should, id imagine, get better and more consistent results from a clone.
But seeds have a tap root so maybe better suited for guerrilla grows???

Id say clones are better suited to indoor cash croppers and seeds are better for us "hobby growers". Its nice to grow a different strain often.
Seeds are for anyone. A cash cropper might want a new strain...

Very true, upgrading to a better breeder all but eliminated the hunt.
But I still have variance in plant structure, some stretch more and contain less bud sites despite aggressive pruning.
So if I were picky and for profit, I would hone in on the higher yielding pheno.
But I'm not, and it all smokes fine.

My question is do you get better results from seed or clone?
Plants from seed are easier & more predictable to train out to multiple colas. Top them once you get 2 colas; top again and you will have 4.
Clones grow fast once they are rooted because they are already as mature as the mother plant. Clones can be topped and trained too but it takes more veg time to get them to form more than 2 colas.
One huge pain in the ass about seeds is sexing them out. With clones at least you already know for sure you got a girl. Feminized seeds are a viable option especially for those just starting out. My growing strategy for years was to start a few femmed seeds at a time and then clone the hell out ofthem just before flipping to flower. Easy peasy...The same could be done from a clone if used as a mother plant but plants from seed that are topped or fimmed tend to have more colas and tighter lateral branching which can result in better yields over a crop from clones. On the other hand you can achieve a faster turnover rate if you take clones from an established mother plant. The definition of which is "better" is subjective. Figure out a growing strategy that works best for your own situation;

I’ve been able to take in clones from others and see them get better over time. Most notable was the GSC cut I received. “Notoriously slow” GSC veg and low yield, now it’s a vigorous Monster. My environment isn’t working against me, though.

I’ve had my cut of Hollywood/Topanga/Malibu Pure Kush for 10+ years. Still going strong.

The environment posing challenges would get frustrating.

I enjoy the hunt. Right now I’m on “Round 2” of Scooby Snacks and of the 5 females/different phenos that pack produced, it’s looking like there are 3 keepers. Each unique to the point that you wouldn’t guess that they are the same “strain”.

It certainly does take up space and time, but I wouldn’t call it “a waste”. It’s not for everyone.

I clone my clones. Start from seed and clone right before i put them in flower. When those a ready i clone them. I usually do it about 5 or 6 runs. Never have any issues so far.
