Seeds, Dirt And Water Cheapest Growing

I was honestly just fvcking around one day and decided to put 6 seeds (seeds are random seeds I picked out and saved after I smoked) in a plastic tray, tray was from the China Wok here in FL. I slapped some dirt right out of my front porch into the tray, as I was smoking a blunt I started to embed the seeds in the dirt. The tray is like 8-10 inches long and 3" deep. Than I threw some water in it and put a 2 foot long fluorescent light above it. The fluorescent light was standing stable from two tall work boots I have, but recently today put the chinese food tray into a box and laid the light on top of the box. I also just burned holes on the bottom today to let the water evaporate better.

I started this January 20 something and it is about 47 days into growing from the seeds. One plant died and the others are still living.
Question is will these plants bud?
Total investment in this joke was 0$ , had a fluorescent light laying around .

Now after a faint smell of weed from the plants, reading all your posts in this forum and the fact that they haven't died yet, I'm starting to take this serious.

I'm a complete noob to this, did some reading but not geek reading.

Can anyone help? Please note even though I know the supplies to buy I will not buy any at all. I might invest in some fertilizer or something that will make em bigger.

Will this even bud with this light?
Will these plants die or grow?
Why are some of the lilly pad leaves die? You know the leaves you see when the plant first grows, those two little small leaves.

theyre awesome..... put em in your window....who knows, as far as costing anything your window ledge is free... they are real stretched though, after 47 days they should be lots bigger.

Lol , the window doesn't get light at all, none of them do, not only that, my neighbors will see it. What do you mean stretched? To small right?

Also how come some of the baby leaves died on 3 of the plants ? You can see those two small leaves at the bottom base of the plant. How come I smell that weed smell to? Does that mean there's a female in there?

i agree with sputniknz put them on the window ledge it will help out a whole lot more than that light. with 47 days of natural light i believe that they would be looking a whole lot stronger. but its still super early so they have plenty of time to catch up before the days start to get shorter but you will have to at least transplant them into something bigger. good luck with the grow and i hope people on here go easy on ya... there has been a lot of bashing on here lately with people that are doing just f*&k it grows.. like i said good luck i will be checking back to see how its going. sorry just saw that you replied while i was typing

those leaves are just to get them started they always fall off. as far as the smell it will only last for a little while i had it too.. you wont get any smell till flowering and thats when you will find out if they are bitches.. but like i said i had that smell too and out of 6 seeds i had four females.. but i doubt it had anything to do with the early smell.

Well I don't have natural light at all and I'm thinking about going to Walmart to buy those CMH lights or whatever. Maybe put a few of them around.

Don't really care if anyone bashes me on this, if I lived in a house I would probably do it the right way but I'm in a god damn apartment complex, so it has to be low-key.

Don't know how this site handles privacy but I should of posted on here from a proxy.

youll do well to get a skewer, long and thin... and poke some holes in the ground to air it out, helps with gas exchange, the soil looks cakey....dont know that they would survive a transplant, and probably a bit late for that, if you can give one a dose of nutes and see if it burn, make it light dose tho.

Edit: Opps didnt realise they were in the same pot together..... there roots might be tangled too? How long have they been in that pot? if it hasnt been long try and seperate them from each other. But by the size of them the roots arent very big.

im newbie too so take what you will

well as far as the bashing it usually happens when people that start out with that they are not going to spend a cent on growing. as far as keeping it low key for a apartment there is plenty of ways of making small compact CHEAP grow area's people on here have used anything from gutted pc cases that you could pick from the trash to just plain cardboard boxes you can also get from the trash. but in order to do that you will have to get some kind of lights that are in the right spectrum of light. still cheap. i use cfl's. you could pick up cheap ones at any walmart. this site has plenty of info just do a little research and you will be fine. key points.. to get them fuller you need some kind of daytime bulb and then when ready to flower get some soft white. with that said. get as many or as little as you need for your application

I transplanted all my plants to a more spacious container. I don't care to seperate them really, I don't have enough space in my closet to have multiple plants. I finally figured the Chinese food tray wasn't going to work.

Should I wait till I can tell if they're male and female and destroy all but the healthiest female?

Will multiple females grow and bud in one pot??

How does this work?
What the fuck is a nute?

Lol the soil was so cakey that I used a spatula and got it all in one. The new soil is pure soil, not sure what kind cause I borrowed it from one of my neighbors.

a nute is NUTRIENTS.
But they are really small considering they are 47 days old?
Maybe they need some pearlite or some type of fertilizer.
They seem to be soaked a bit.

They stayed soaked pretty much 24/7, there was no holes at the bottom till I switched it today into the new pot. Where can I get Pearlite? How much is it?

I also read that if you dilute your urine with the right amount of water it is a good fertilizer for the plant cause it containts nitrogen. Is this true?

How effective will it make my plants if I start doing this?
Will it help?

Those plants are snakey and long because the light was too far away. My advice is to start over, with more knowledge on your hands :). Nutrients should not be used until 2-3 months into it, as the seed it self has enough nutrients to get it started.
If I had to place a bet I would probably say that your plants are going to fall over once they get bigger :(

I'm going to give you some general tips on growing if you decide to start a new.

Use some reflective material, such as aluminum paper(common house hold item) and surround the area in which its growing so that more light hits the plant(not too close). Try to find another light? Perhaps a lamp laying around in your home, the more light the better.
When first planting a seed, put the light 3 inches away from the soil/plant, always keep it 3 inches away so that it can easily follow the light. Adjust as it grows, some lights might be too hot so place your hand under the light for 1 minute, if its too hot then maybe keep it further(fluorescents generally don't have that problem)

Get a fan up in that bitch(not too strong), normal plants get wind and as a result become more stronger, if your plants aren't building resistance then they will become weak. I'm not saying run a fan 24/7, but for a little bit in the day(read the forums for more info)

Do NOT overwater, if the soil is damp then it probably doesn't need watering. Every 2-3 days is the usual, but put your finger on the soil and gauge.

Its going to be hard during the flowering if you only have that one light. You can try if you want, but I would suggest buying a HPS(high pressure sodium) light, the best for flowering. Fluorescent lights are great for growing seedlings but once the plant gets bigger its going to need a different spectrum that your fluo light probably doesn't have. Cheaper alternatives would be to buy a warm fluo light(closer to red spectrum). There are two types, cool and warm. You have a cool one(blue spectrum). A halogen light is another alternative, although they tend to get hot.

Try not to plant two seeds in the same soil. The roots can get tangled and one plant can overshadow the other. If you are, at least plant them FAR away from each other!

Lastly, read the forums religiously, you can see this is my first post, I did not post anything because I know that people already asked the same questions I have in my head here :).

Good luck, let me know how it goes, and if you have any questions.

Dont worry about the baby leaves half of mine did that and now I have some big stinky plants.
check my setup I'm a first time grower (1st real grow , one prior small closet grow)

walmart has two lamp t8's for $10-$15 they'd work excellently for you seedlings distributing the light better than the cfls or the CMH (and run cool to the touch unlike the MH security lights from walmart)
Plus the watt/ lumen ratio is so much better
this is my snocap from seed (right out of a nug) , planted on new years day( about 8 weeks ago) it measures about 14" and I'm about to scrog it but noting how it's branched out I may top it first
I have had it under t8's 24/0 cycle
