people lose perspective sometimes. i get to see very wealthy people and very poor people all day every day, and their lives are depressingly similar.
rich people spend all day working to hang on to what they have, and get more. most of them have very little time to spend enjoying anything, they get up and start running errands and attending meetings, making and taking phone calls till they go home and collapse in bed.
poor people get up and go to work, and worry about paying the bills, worrying about what will happen to their families if they get sick or injured, worrying about the price of rent, and groceries, and utilities, and what happens if the pos car breaks down and they have to get up an hour earlier every day to walk to work.
so just remember...life sucks....having more bread doesn't mean you don't eat shit, you just eat it out of a crouquette instead of a wonder bread sammich...wonder if that makes it taste any better?

Why are you defending the corporation's ability to take advantage of people through starvation level minimum wage laws?

Is the time of young people inherently not worth providing a living wage?

You should get:
Minimum room rental
Minimum groceries
Minimum transportation
Minimum clothing
Minimum entertainment

Room rentals can be found for a couple hundred dollars.
You can live off Ramen and peanut butter crackers.
The bus or even a bicycle can take you were you need to go.
Goodwill has a nice clothing selection.
Playing in the park is free.

I don't know why so many people cry about minimum wage.

Minimum wage jobs are usually starter jobs then you advance from their. I have worked some pretty shitty jobs sometimes you have to do what you have to do. The last person I worked with was super lazy. He kept that job for six months, I had to do twice the work because of him. Finally he got fired and within seven months he found a pretty good job for $22 an hour. The first day he was late the second day he was found sleeping the third day he was sleeping again and was fired. Some people just don't DESERVE good jobs.

For the sake of argument, let's define "rich" as people who have more than 200 million in assets. Does that work for you?
I get the feeling that a lot of repubs think they are either rich or on their way to being rich. The kind of "rich" we are talking about is something that normal people have a hard time wrapping their head around. Do you own a business? Maybe two? How about some property?
You still aren't even close to being the kind of "rich" we are talking about. :dunce:

wasn't my intention to defend anyone, was just trying to point out that the 1% isn't really any happier than the other 99. i think people driven to aquire wealth are mentally ill, and should be treated that way. a compulsion is a compulsion, and it makes people forget what morals they had in the pursuit of that compulsion, just like a drug........

Minimum wage where I live is $10.50/hr. That's $1680 a month. Minus 25% for taxes equals $1260. A quick search on my local craigslist shows numerous rooms for rent for $600 a month.

Living on minimum wage in my area is more than doable.
