Shroom Pizza Anyone?

hey I am thinking of growing for the first time. I was thinking marijuana but I decided to give shrooms a try. I was going to buy Golden Teacher, is that what you use Pullin' Weeds, or do you use B+, which is my other top choice.

I was going to try 3 batches of 12 jars using this guide: How To Grow Magic Mushrooms. A simple Psilocybe cubensis Growing Technique (page 1)

Has anyone used that guide before? I was also thinking of playing around a bit and trying to grow a batch instead of in jars in a big tub. Does surface area matter in the growth process? Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks,

JB

Yeah - I got Golden Teachers. Probably isn't a huge difference, esspecially if you're just starting out.

Haven't read the guide you posted - just lots of reading at shroomery.org

Good luck!

So have you guys found bigger things like the foil to be better than jars? does surface area and growing space matter with mushrooms?

I dunno man im just experimenting with the info i have. im spawning jars of birdseed when they colonize im going to crumble it all into the cakepan and cover it with something i dont know what yet

I donno if gram for gram of substrate the yields are different for cakes vs casings. However doing trays and casing is much more efficient and economical.

By spawning jars to a bulk substrate you increase the amount of substrate by several times. You also pack more substrate into a smaller area. Doing cakes requires large amounts of space to fruit - if you pack a bunch into a smaller space, your yield/sq ft increases. Depth of substrate is as important as surface area if not more. Keeping things in a tray also keeps the moisture in - there's only one surface for evaporation. Therefore easier to keep consistant.

im so confused about this bulk substrate talk. do you have to make more of the vermiculite brown rice flour and lay it out in a tray and then cover it in vermiculite? where can i get this info? shroomery is too hard to find good, simple information. and they are fuckin dicks on that forum.

No - not Rice and Verm.

Bulk substrates are things like chopped straw, Horse Manure, Coir, Compost etc...
You crumble a fully colonized cake into the bulk - the mycelium then grows from your rice/verm onto the bulk.

do you guys know of any legit sites that sell spores and accept money orders, that would hopefully have either golden teacher or B+?
