Sup Dirt
here's the scope on the Gnatroll
i run it in several ways till i got a handle on it
first you need to know there are two types of Gnatroll out there
one is liquid the other is a powder application, only use the liquid version
it is hard to come by as they discontinued the product for the favor of the powder application version
they claim its more concentrated version of the liquid
but the reality is, it doesn't do as good of a job as the liquid does
it will keep things at bay, which i'm sure is more profitable for the manufacture
as they all seem to be going in this route
now for applying
it is a fairly thick compound, i applied in my moms table
and in my EZ killer 120
i was able to track results on my moms tray more easily as i can observe the run off for motion
which is how i originally discovered my problem
i keep fogging the room on a schedule, i had nothing flying around
but i guess they were in the medium waiting to hatch
when they did i saw them jumping in the run off
that's when i started to treat
i first run the lowest dosage recommended by the manufacture mixed with the soup
and gave it few days, in which i could still see motion on the run off
i was getting stress it wasn't working and time was ticking
i emptied my res then refilled with RO water and max dosage on the Gnatroll (40ml per gallon)
i applied as a drench first with the mix, which run off to the res
i then filled up the res with the same rate and flooded every other day for three days
i can tell you this, in matter of hours at full rate
nothing was moving in the water, nothing
they were thousands of them, but they were all dead
i clearly over did it as my moms got stressed from this three days process
but they are free of any pests in the media; and are bouncing back as we speak
i also applied this at the same rates in the cloner, as a mist application
it is not recommended to agitate the res water with the beneficials in it
i also realized there could not be any eggs inside the cloner
since they have no way of penetrating, if they were anywhere around
it who'd be on the leafs only, which my fogging should have taken care of
i originally got the Gnatroll cause i thought i have Gnats in the medium
it turned out to be thrips, the Gnatroll is marketed for controlling Gnat in media
but the beneficial bacteria take care of everything in the media
i verified it later with their sales rep, they sell other products for thrips
so they dont want to confuse or conflict
go Only with Gnatroll for anything that's growing in your medium,
it works, verified 100%!
