Still no independent review of the GeekBeast Pro???

Never mind. I had my thermometer on top of a black bucket lid which was soaking up the heats from the lights. I hung it at about canopy level and my temps are around 86-87*F constantly. I took some leaf temperatures using an IR thermometer and they're around 70-78*.

I think I'm fine :)
 
Hello all, been busy. Ok so, I took pictures using the meter. Firstly the large room has 32 x 320w spread across 400sqft. Everything i have was before the new strip system. which we will get next as well for testing. Pic.3 is Par at pot level. pic.1 is Par at canopy. Testing was done with UV and IR off. s
Veg room (one side) has 2 x 480w, UV on and at 66% power through app control. Plants came in damaged but still able to pull over 26 elbows. I believe the weight is short because I only went with 3 part feed. no additives. I agree that the plants respond "dramatically" faster to deficiencies than under bulbs. If there is more i can dive into let me know and Ill try it out at some point.

I burned the shit out of my grow by having UV on that I did not realize because my light is mounted so I can remote mount the transformer and the IR and UV switch were not visible because they were up against the tent. I am such a stoner that I put the light together without noticing the switches.

I think so too. No I do not think that running a fan at half speed is better. Better for noise, better for electricity use, not better for heat or humidity.

I am curious to find more because I have never heard of UV causing issues. the reason you turn them on at a certain point is life longevity(2-4 weeks at end of cycle will last the length of the white chips. nothing to do with the plant, veg wants more blue, bulbs put out more UV than a single spectrum UV chip. I run my UV at all times in my veg room.

Something isn't right, leaf temps with LED should be around 1-2 degrees C less than air temp.
Also, look into VPD, or Vapor Pressure Deficit.

UVA, The difference in quality doesnt overweigh the price of the chip and cell damage to employees with UVB from my view. One of the rooms uses UVB and side by side wasnt enough to justify saying UVB or UVA are better. UVB-UVC for sterlizing is mostly.

These numbers you will have with HPS.

Under LED, it will rather be a difference of 3 or 4 degrees Celsius, and this only if you manage not to extract all the heat directly.
Otherwise, the difference could be even higher.

What is the source of your info? When you say a difference of 3-4 degrees, is that lower or higher than air temp?
The VPD information and charts I've seen indicate leaf temp 1-2C lower than air temp and that's what people here have measured, including myself.

This Geekbeast pro looks interesting but it says its a 630w light that runs on a meanwell driver but meanwells cap out at 600w.

It also claims to put out 1700-1800 umols but I talked to the rep a few weeks ago and she said "Total diode count is 1512pcs lm301h 72pcs osram 660nm 24pcs lg uv 24pcs osram ir." That diode count seems too low to be dishing out 1700-1800 umols.

The Gavitas and HLGs that dish out that much light have at least 2500 diodes. They all claim lm301h/b diodes just like this one

what makes you guys think this light is legit?

have you tried running a UV bulb insyead of 400nm diodes that growlight makers use to provide UVA. you need to get down to the 340-380nm range to see any real benifit

My source of info is people who grow under led.
And the temperature is lower than air temperature of course.
With HPS it is already 1 or 2 degrees lower, and that is with a light source that gives a lot of radiant heat.
Radiant heat, heats up surfaces (like leaves) not the air directly.
LED does not have radiant heat, so the only heat coming from LED is convection heat. It will heat up the air.
Envetually also the leaves, but at a much slower pace.

The charts you see on cannabis related sites, are mainly looking at HPS as the source of light.

With this link you can adjust the difference between ambient and leaves. You can slide the bar.
It also gives more realistic numbers.
Some of the charts you see online have no scientific basis.

Thermometer doesn't want to be in light at all.

Because it works really really well for the money it cost me. Is a gavita worth twice the price of this? Doubt it.

As stated before, the tests I performed didnt show the difference. One room runs 28 of the califonia 1100+UV. the UV bulbs on the califonialightworks solarsystems are great, but not useful in commercial settings. the Chip offered on the Geeklights use LG 395nm. The results have been equal every crop so far.

I agree. I own one. Good light but specs from Geekbeast are suspect IMHO.

I turned UV off for now. You could be right. Maybe it was just too bright over all but I have some strange results frim running UV at 100% 16hrs per day. https://www.rollitup.org/t/uv-during-veg-stimulate-male-expression.1028742/
