Some people honestly don't know the difference between the use of those words. Some don't know that their means one thing, and there means another. It's actually very common for people to get this confused or twisted. Or maybe they didn't pay attention in school when this was being taught. Whatever the case, your on a forum for growing weed, you expect a bunch of high growers to type and speak perfect english? Get real my man, and on top of that, you shouldn't let simpleton shit like that bug you. Mainly not on a sight such as this. My best advice is to just deal wit it, there are plenty of us educated fully fluent english speaking people on this site, but we also have lives and so on and so forth, so why not save a few keys strokes if you can. Hell yeah, your wrong. Unless your hiring a proof reader, or spell checker. I mean not everyone can spell, not everyone can add, not everyone speaks multiple languages, and so on, but that's why they got spell check, and hooked on phonics, and math bee, and shit like that. I mean it's shit like that keeping people down, you hiring the muthafucka who can spell, but he may not work as hard, or perform the same as that person you never called cuz they misused "there".

And sometimes the best person won't be the fool who spelled correctly, or used proper punctuation. And your not being that realisitic, people adapt to their environment and surroundings, plain and simple. I may use slang in the streets, and wit my folks, but when I'm in the professional world, I adapt to my environment. I know what's acceptable where and when, you pickin up what I'm putting down? I'm not really feelin your posts to much.

Cut corners and short cuts? Surely you jest. This is part of what is wrong with the world. People are too lazy to do things right. How much time and effort does it take to correctly spell and use "their" when they spell it "there". I miss your point.

Very nice point you make here. I am wit you on this one. Hate that fake ass greeting they hit you with them disappear, or in my experience alot of the time, I don't even get a greeting. lol. That's when I make them earn their money. lol. And it was probably the kid who filled out the application with proper spelling and grammar.

I strongly disagree with this. I have shaken hands with dudes with firm shakes, that was punks when shit jumped off, then I have shaken hands with light handed shakes and that dude knocked a muthafucka out. And also so many punks have heard so much about the firm hand shake and how is sends a message, so they try and get they hand shake real strong. lol. That shits funny to me. But it stands true to an extent, like with older men, that are from the old school. But nowadays, shit be so far fetched and detached from reality. IMO>

I dont expect everyone to be perfect, I know I am far from it. However, people should hold themselves to a certain standard and knowing when to use "there" or "their" is not asking too much. In my reality it is very imperative that people use the correct grammar, there is an image to maintain. I do not feel guilty at all for cutting people because of their grammar. I have certain expectations for myself and what I do, and I will be damned if I let someone else mess that up and prevent me from maintaining and achieving my goals. I just remove them from the equation. I expect people to work hard and spell correctly, if they cant keep up with me then they are gone. Cut and dry.

I do not use just the handshake alone in my decision making, another big one is body language, but the biggest one is just my gut feeling. Take several pieces and put them together and you will usually get a pretty good idea of the person. I feel I am right about the person 90% of the time.

Some people just don't know how to use "their" or "there" correctly. That is my point. I know that is what is wrong with the world, I ain't make it this way, I'm just living with it. I was just mentioning that is how America is now, cutting corners to save or earn a dollar.

I guess. I see things a bit differently, but we are obviously from very different backgrounds and up bringings. I do know the english language, and feel I navigate it very well. I just was trying to garnish a bit of understanding out of you. To no avail I might add. lol.

No actually RKM is NOT wrong... you are. When hiring someone, you are hiring them to represent your company, both orally and by written word. If I wrote emails or other correspondence to our clients littered with bad grammar and misuse of words such as "their" for "there" I would be fired. Likewise if I walked into a client's office and greeted them with "wat up dawg" I would be fired! Everyone makes typos on occasion, but continuously making the same mistake over and over tells your employer you either don't know the correct usage or are just too lazy to proof-read; either way, not good in an employers eyes.

I work in a professional environment and it is just not acceptable to be illiterate, either orally or in written form.

It's not "shit like that keeping people down" either. How you present yourself is how you will be perceived. The world does not owe anyone anything. If one wants to speak and write like a moron then fine... they will likely work in low-wage jobs where the employer can't be as picky.

Everyone has a choice to make, but the business world isn't going to be tolerant of people with poor verbal and written skills. :blsmoke:

I don't for a minute think it has to do with time.... I think it has to do with ignorance. On the other hand.... it seems very apparent to me that the people who speak and type like this pride themselves on their ignorance. It's like some sort of "badge of hipness". :roll:
