YOU CAN GO BY A CALANDER, AND IT WILL BE BETWEEN 8 AND 9 WEEKS FOR MOST INDICA.
You can buy a $10 lighted battery operated 10X microscope at Radio Shack to examine the trichs.
You can wait until all the hairs are reddish or browish or dark beer colored.

again, all the above are rules of thumb and many will argue this, but until you've done a few grows and learn any better, this is good advise.

This is a great thread and debate on Lollipopping and removing Fan leaves.
Uncle Bena nd Brick Top are the two senor growers, and much more experienced and knowledgable than the young whipper snappers doing all the argueing.

I watched my X-wife do a lolipopping grow, and she barely got an onuce per plant after Vegging 5 weeks nd Blooming 9 weks.

I know from experience that lollipopping is as dumb and unproductive a thing anyone could do to get a large yield. Maybe in a SOG lowryder only want one cola grow, it is OK.

Check it out, it is a long read, but very educational.
Uncle Ben is famous for TOPPING knowledge and for adding Nitrogen to the Bloom nutes.
 
I already see some buds that are filling out and getting full. I can not imagine what they will look like in 4 more weeks.

I wish all the other Bubbleheads would post new pics that started 12/12 about the same time we did.
 
Ok, now for my latest measly harvest. (but this will be the last tiny harvest!)

This girl's been in 12/12 for about 10 weeks. It was my only plant in an Ebb-n-Flow type system. I vegged her for about 17 days and probably resembles what my grow might look like from now on as I'll be trying a SOG with clones next. Anyways she smell nice and dank!! here are some pix.
