The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

First of all, thabks for reply. But i dont understsnt at all you math....not really.
I mean your math says that 500w led in 1x1 meter (3x3) is at low end....and i thing thats not correct...500w for a 3x3 space should more than enough...

So what u recommend for my 6x6 space?
A 6x6 isn't two times bigger than a 3x3, it's four times bigger. 3x3=9, 6x6=36. I've been equating a meter to 3', but it's really 3.28', so for the below info I'm going to use that value.

I only know the led wattage rule of thumb for square feet, but If 1 square foot = 0.092 square meters and you're looking for a minimum of 30W of led light per square foot then we can convert and say you're looking for a minimum of 322.92W per square meter. Let's call it 320W.

So if you have a 2 meter x 2 meter area, or 4 square meters you're looking for 320x4 or 1280W, and that's the recommended minimum. Could you grow in less? Absolutely, but if you're going to put in the time and effort and you're allotting that much space to grow you're probably going to want to maximize your yields.

As far as a recommendation, like Rocket Soul was suggesting you're probably better off with several smaller lights. Which ones exactly, I'm not sure. I'm thinking 4x lights suitable for a 1x1meter area. the problem with most of the lights is that they're made up of several 120W boards that are rectangular. With one you can light a square well. With two they can arrange them light a square or a rectangle when they design them. Four gives you a nice square again, but you can't arrange three equal sized rectangles and get a nice square shape.

Here's a picture of that so you see what I mean: https://kingbriteled.en.alibaba.com/productgrouplist-817274864-1/QB288_Board_320W.html?spm=a2700.icbuShop.41413.23.60661f00ofFpEO&filter=null

If you could get 4x320W lights that were square shaped that'd be pretty good, but a quick glance shows me they're mostly real long and marketed to the 2x4' crowd. 2x2 meters is a huge area. It might be overkill, but I'd consider 4x480W "square" quantum board lights. You could always dim the a bit. Any one light source is going to give you a ton of light near the center and much less at the edges. That's like 44W per square foot or 480W per square meter.

My suggestion on buying lighting fixtures for home use would be to get more than you think you need.
Using power consumed as a metric to compare fixtures isn't that accurate.
The efficacy of the light source at converting watts of electricity into photons of PAR that your plants use is a MAJOR variable.
That's why you see a large spread of power densities listed when using different light sources.
Umbra's suggestion with the 320 watt fixtures is what I would look into.
I don't like large fixtures-bulky and heavy.

Does anyone think the 301-h are worth the price difference over the 301-B?

Here's a quote from that thread:

"
I got this from our Samsung rep the other day:

"The real story with the 301H is that they are identical to the 301B. They are just marketed to different markets and their data is presented accordingly. They both have the same photon or luminous efficacy (depends how you want to look at it). There is no tweaking or special phosphor used, the anti sulphurization coating and stronger bind wires (which is key in many harsher environments, but especially horticulture) is the exact same on both parts. But since they were gaining so much traction in the horticulture market with the 561c and 301b years back, they decided to cater specifically to that market and give them a unique data sheet that works for the specific industry; micromoles rather than lumens for the case of the 301H. " "

I have the R2T 512 boards. They are like the Mark 1 version.
One of the first fuller spectrum lights on offer I think.
Not top name leds on the board apart from the Samsung LM561C whites back then but I'm happy with them.
Been using them for nearly 2 years now with no issues.
They grow dank weed.
I've mostly used them for flowering but recently moved them into a late veg early flowering area.
I usually double up on the diodes when it comes to lighting and run them softly.

Thanks bro right what I needed to hear I would save a lot going with them over the fotops and wanted to try out a “fuller spectrum” board then all these strips I add to my fotops. My my other space is ready I’ll try a side by side with their boards, just 3k or 3500k, and 3k with red strips and see any differences between all three boards with the same strains

bava and meijiu told me lm301b and lm301h is in shortage, they suggest me to use Seoul leds, any body use Seoul? is Samsung led real in shortage?

Does anyone think the 301-h are worth the price difference over the 301-B?
I own some of each. In my opinion there is no difference. Both lights get dimmed anyways. My advice is if your grow area is really moist then the H's might be beneficial. Plugged in and running you can't see a difference. Growing side by side you can't see any growth differences. I would save the money and get the B's

Not been on here in a while, but things are going well. I'm not even sure if I told you the results of my harvest a few weeks ago

Under the Geekbeast 630 and the monsterboard 320 I pulled 25 Oz total. Very happy as the plants were all varying sizes and mostly untrained
I have now pretty much maxxed out my 2x2 area with light, running the geekbeast630, two 320w qb and two 240 watt qb. All are dimmed to 70 percent and all is well.

So I’m starting my new grow space and trying to decide between 300 board vs 560(diode count). I generally do a square 4x4 fixture. 4 560 boards are less diodes and will cost 500 more then buying 8 300 Boards. My problem is I’ll be doing double the work building and drilling into the angle with the 300s. Should I just suck it up or go ahead with the 560s. I’ll need enough for 7 4x4 tables
What you think @Moflow

Has anyone tried and recommend something like the Hortibloom Mega Plus 650 but from alibaba ?

I'm tempted to revamp my room with something like them.

I have a 10 x 5 space I'll need to cover.

I'm going to re-purpose these.20200828_132751.jpg20200828_132758.jpg20200828_132805.jpg20200828_132812.jpg

Been wanting to try strips for a while now and I don't fancy paying these companies that buy the same shit from China those ridiculous ammounts just because they've rebranded it.

I've had good experiences with Kingbrite and Bava ( all my boards came from baba and I have 36 citizen cobs from King bride).

Cheers folks, let me know if you've used anything.

So just thought I'd let the community know about my current shitshow with Meijiu... Sorry about the length...

I talked with "Ariel" one of the sales reps for almost a week prior to purchasing, asking about the lights and the whole process. This was my first Alibaba purchase so I was nervous. She said packages would be shipped immediately upon funds being transferred. I also specifically asked what would happen if the lights were damaged during shipping and was repeatedly told "Do not worry friend" and assured that there was shipping insurance included.

I go and order up x2 A8-650w units. Price was $483 USD plus $200 USD shipping per unit. Came to about $1900 and change in CAD. Paid for the lights, then the next day I was told that there was a backlog in orders and that lights would be 2-3 weeks before the lights "arrived and they were able to ship them out". Regardless of having been told otherwise the day before. Kinda confused where the lights were arriving from as I was under the impression they were building the f***ing things right there?? Needless to say I was pissed. She said she would try to speed up the wait time. Lights shipped out 9 days later.

Logistics was a nightmare. Long story short, UPS flew the package around the US adding an extra 4500 KM to the trip. Then 2 days of no activity due to "mechanical issues". Asked Ariel why I was charged $400 USD in shipping for "UPS Worldwide Saver" which is guaranteed 1-3 days, yet it took 9. Asked them to contact UPS for a rebate on shipping due to extended length and mechanical problems. Message was read but never responded to.

Needless to say I get the delivery finally. Sure as shit in a cow pasture, one of the lights is damaged. Both of the end bars that connect the light bars are crushed on one end where the eyelet hooks are. Looks like something was dropped on them. Aside from that, 75% of the pin connectors on the light bars themselves that connect to the end bars are all bent, and the screws are loose af. I had to sit there and align and tighten each connector end on almost every bar to get the things to fit into place. I Immediately message this Ariel girl. She sends me pictures that are apparently of the 2 boxes prior to leaving the factory. Odd thing though is that both pictures are of the same box, almost like its a generic picture they send. I called her out on it. No response.

One light has a Meijiu logo on the end bars, and the damaged one doesn't. To me it looks like it was a light that was damaged at the factory or returned by a customer. Possibly even an older model? I have no idea. Anyways its been 2 weeks now. They insist that I have to file a claim through UPS. UPS on the other hand wont let me file a claim because its from an overseas shipper, and they are the ones that need to file the claim not the recipient according to them. They swear up and down that the damage was done by UPS. Odd thing though is that there is some minor damage to one box, however impossible that it would results in damage to 2 bars.

Just thought I'd give everyone a heads up of what can happen. My only option if they don't submit a claim here is to apply for a refund under the alibaba protection plan. Idk if that will get processed though. Fingers crossed.

As for the shipping I’m sure it took so long because of the pandemic, I’ve had lots of orders delayed. I ordered seeds from CO which usually take 3-5 days (I’m in CA) and they took 2 1/2 weeks because they decided to travel all around the US.

That’s a bummer about the lights though, sorry to hear that. I’ve only ordered from Kingbrite and had a great experience but I’ve hear tons of good things about Meijiu and was planning on getting one of their bar fixtures so this makes me a bit nervous.

Yeah I figured Covid had to do with the shipping costs, it's just bs that people are still paying full shipping costs yet times will be knowingly delayed.

I've been put in contact with yet another higher-up person as of this morning so we will see where it goes from here. Lots of people have had good experiences with them. The lights themselves are bright af, and they are a fraction of the price for what I'd pay more name brand.

I was on the fence whether to go with Meijiu or the geek beast pro, but the 8 bars had more appeal as well as cheaper cost.

I’m sure it will all get sorted with Meijiu, as for the shipping times and costs that goes for anything and everything you order currently from overseas.

This is my fear about dealing with Alibaba and overseas shipments. There is no telling who's fault it is as nobody knows if this got broken before or during shipment. That said it should be taken care of swiftly by the shipper and not put on the receivers shoulders to deal with. In the end the buyer paid good money for a product and shipping but received a broken product. I have heard many boast about Alibaba and Meijiu so hopefully they do what is right and sort this out. With all the folks who speak highly of them as a cheaper alternative I would hope this is just a one off and they show good customer service to the buyer.
