Too early to start my seeds?

Trying to figure out when to get started. Don't want to endanger my plants, but wanting to start as early as possible to get the most out of the season as well.
I sure could use a mentor with this aspect.
My general location is southern Kentucky northern Tennessee, geographically

Just depends on how big you want to try and grow them. I started late April last year and averaged about 1.5 lbs per plant.

Guess I should clarify. I do want to start them inside, but only have 2- 45w full spectrum led bulbs for a light source. I don't really know how many plants that will cover, and will want to get them outside ASAP.

So, trying to time it seems pretty tricky to me. Hoping that you more knowledgeable, experienced folks have an answer.

Hey Mel:

One consideration is how far north you are. I live at 47 degrees and if I go outdoors before about May 7 then I add supplemental light until above date so they don't try to flower early. Plants that finish early are the ones are worse for this. I have already started my seeds but I am going to take cuttings and plant the clones outdoors in late May. I also have some mother plants that I will take cuts from and move outdoors around May 15. These are late finishers end of Oct.

I hope this helps
Good luck!

Research your planting zone and figure out when night time lows will be in the 50s. That's probably a good time to put them out and with your limited lighting I'd plan on starting them no more than 3-4 weeks before they go outside. Cover them if nights are a lot colder than expected. Running a light for an hour at night during veg IS a good idea ^ so they don't flower early.

You probably wont listen to me because you already got it all figured out,but asking the question at least going to get a sensible response from me.Dont start to early thinking your getting a jump on a huge plant thats going to produce way more because its bigger when you put it outside.Start indoors about a month before its safe from cold weather, which is usually late May in the northern region.Smaller plants acclimate better to being put outdoors than larger plants IMO.

I would disagree with this statement. Any time I have started my plants later like a month or 2 from putting them out has never yielded like when I started them earlier. In fact last grow I started in late Feb and they were massive. This grow I started them Feb first.
If done right they will explode when put outdoors

You answered why in your own words "if done right". Basically still comes down to what size pot you end up using, and dont forget space and fans to stiffin up stalks, way to much invested for what you end up with.

I started mine 6-7 weeks ago and they are getting big
I had to transfer to 5 gallon pots

I started on 24hrs of light witch wasn’t a good idea after I did my research

Match the outdoor light schedule for when you wanna get the girls outside

I live up north so I’m not moving my girls out till June 1st

Now I’m in the process of changing my light schedule
30min a week Then a hour a week till I’m at 15/9

Happy growing :)
