Awesome setup. Very creative. Beautiful results.
I think they still arent worth it. You can pick up used 1000w HPS seups for pennies on the dollar. If i had to pick i would get the $1300 Gavita LED. Maybe in another 5-10 years it will make sense to switch to LED but not right now. I only grow in winter so the heat that comes off HPS just helps heat the house. Keeps my temps right where i like them.
If that home made device causes a fire its going to cost you everything. LED wouldnt save me much energy. I just run my HPS in the winter so it just helps heat the house.I’ve built two. The bridgelux v2s are super cheap now. Add a few strips to the build to bring down the amps to .7 and you don’t even need heat sinks. Super nice systems at a fraction of the price. 500-600$ with the energy and bulb savings the payback is quick. It would be silly for me to use hps.DIY LED Strip Build Designs for Samsung H-Series, F-Series, Q-Series, and Bridgelux EB Gen.2 - LED Gardener
DIY LED strip builds have become very popular recently. The mid-power section of our forum is full of threads created by DIYers looking to build their own custom lights, and new builds and ideas are surfacing every day. Lol no fear of that. I’m very comfortable with my wiring abilities. If that home made device causes a fire its going to cost you everything. LED wouldnt save me much energy. I just run my HPS in the winter so it just helps heat the house.
You can pick up a mini split a/c for under $1k depending on size of your grow and grow year round. I paid only $1,200 for a brand new 2 ton(24,000 btu) dakien mini split unit. My buddy is an hvac guy and he installed it. Was the best decision I ever made, I sealed up my flower room and can comfortably grow with 4630 watts of hid, in a sealed room with co2 and temps in the mid- high 70°s with lights on in the summer.I think they still arent worth it. I wouldn't worry about a fire as the wiring is very easy and DIY can be relatively inexpensive. I would also say if you grow in a tent or smaller space, then it is the best solution, as it maximizes height, the light runs at lower temps - although I find plants thrive at higher room temps with led grows. If that home made device causes a fire its going to cost you everything. Sweet gelato from sweet seeds. Zkittles strains are good from Seedman. Anything from Mephisto.Hey guys haven't had to order seeds in awhile like 10 years. So I thought for my first order I am going to try and order 2 strains i am familiar with AK47 from Serious & Amnesia Haze from Soma if i can get both I haven't even looked for them yet.
I planned on ordering from seedman. Since that's who i used in the past i briefly read some where they might be having some shipping issues. so maybe you guys will tell me other wise. Thanks for your time
Ya I have thought of switching over to led, but a run a decent sized flower room and love the results I get from my HIDs. I going to set up a 2nd smaller room were I'll run a led and see how I like them and go from there. Ran led thru full cycle in the past but now the tech is better so want to give it another try.I wouldn't worry about a fire as the wiring is very easy and DIY can be relatively inexpensive. Ultimately, this is a arguement that can go either way with folks being die hard on either side with plenty of hyperbole mixed in for fun . Being objective, LED is a good option in smaller spaces whereas larger rooms HID is likely more cost effective to buy and I know others have indicated that in winter the added heat helps their spaces.
lucky you have an hvac friendYou can pick up a mini split a/c for under $1k depending on size of your grow and grow year round. Awesome post. Any experience with Greenpoint Genetics? Trying them out now for first time. Im loving Dungeon Vault Genetics, gotta grab some of that ASAP.1.Baneys Farm
2.Greenhouse seed co
3.Dutch Passion
4. TH Seeds
5. Nirvana
^ this list is a joke, wouldn't order from these Dutch breeders/ Spanish seed co, it's not 2001, we have better options stateside now.
Real list-
1. {Thug Pug Genetics}- one of the best breeders we have in the game right now, grew some of my most stunning strains in years with gromers gear. You want top- shelf elite flower, go with thugpug. My favs are puta breath and sherb breath. You could literally not go wrong throwing a dart at their menu and getting something good.
2. {Dungeon Vault Genetics}- DVG is easily tied with thugpug for my favorite breeder. I always get the most colorful, frosted the fuck out- purp'd bud. Love theyre flagship strain grandpas breath. Also for cookie type strains, they are, without a doubt- the most stable. Dvg, also like thugpug only offer regs seeds but my last run with dungeon vault, I popped a full pack of Purple Jellato and got something like 8 females out of one pack of 11 reg seeds! That's great ratios. Lastly have to mention dvg and the terps/smells you get with their flower- which is the absolute best. I ran a pack of Brandywine not to long ago and the flower literally smelled and tasted like grape big league chew gum, it was insane. Love DVG!
3. {In-House Genetics} Alright good ole in-house....love or hate em. They tend to get a lot of both on this board. So here it is- I've had 1 issue with one of there strains herming on me but I believe it was due to my friend that mislabeled cuts. Alright got that out of the way, now on to the good stuff- so in house has been good to me, I have ran decent amount of their genetics and have gotten killer results. In-house bag appeal is always top-notch. You'll hear complaints of some of their strains having weak potency and I think that can be true for some phenos you get when popping a pack. What gets people scratching their heads is- once in a while they will grow one of the most stunning, trich'd out plants they've done in a while and then the smoke is just meh, not memorable . . Think it has something to do with the purple punch and sometimes platinum they use. That being said I recently grew some do•lato from ihg that got you stoned to the bone. Shit got my friends and I rocked, and it absolutely reeked of gas/fuel, was a great strain. I have multiple cuts of good phenos of in-house in my garden and will keep em for a while. Another great strain from ihg is slurricane. Slurricane>when you find the right pheno-you know. The pheno I have is some of the best smelling bud around and really dazzles people. Absolutely beautiful purple to neon green buds with trich'd out colas. So for me in-house is legit, but proceed with caution and when popping packs of new strains keep and eye out for nanners or any signs of herms. Also with new strains- feed lightly, don't over feed, see what they like and slowly build up till you get them dialed in.
4. {Dynasty Genetics} Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, prop P and Dynasty are the real deal. They are the sleeper hit in the seed game. Don't hear much hype, don't think they really want to play into that game, but trust me and other growers> Dynasty puts out the dank heat! Anytype of high end blueberry/fruit type crosses, he's your man. His plants grow beautifully and terps are insanely mouth watering. I have run his Carmel Candy Kush, Blue Magoo, Huckleberry Kush and Pineapple Fields and all were stunning. You can't go wrong with Dynasty.
5. {Clearwater Genetics}- so being honest I have not ran this breeders packs, will be in the next few weeks.. Going by what my close friends and friends from here on rollitup that I trust have told me, these guys are the real fucking deal. I have seen their grow pics and flower and these are new age -type, beyond top-shelf genetics to bring us in to a new decade of high-end Marijuana. I can tell by Clearwater's Instagram page that they've worked very hard selecting the perfect strains and crosses for there menu. I believe they offer only fems which is great for me at the moment because I don't want to halt up my production in any flower room sexing plants and having to pull males, etc. Someone from here(riu) I trust has told me he has ran multiple packs, think over 3+ and has had not a herm, always a very good sign.
They have now 4 main strains that they use for their crosses- they're {mai tai}~( sunset sherb x purple punch)
{apple fritter}~(animal cookies x sour apple)
{creamsicle}~{cookies n cream x ?)
{runtz}~( gelato x zkittlez)
Now basically their menu is basically the 4 strains I just listed above, crossed with a bunch of elites, for example-
Sugar rush- (pyxy stix x mai tai)
Bittersweet- (GMO x mai tai)
Cereal bars- (Fruity pebbles og x creamsicle)
Lemon freeze pop-( lemon tree x creamsicle)
Sunset Cider-( sunset sherbert x apple fritter)
Breath minz- kush mints x runtz
They also cross up their main strains like-
Apple Tartz- (Apple fritter x runtz)
Anyways got about 4 packs of them and are going to pop them right away. Clearwater is a somewhat newer breeder that I'm really excited about. Sorry about the length of this post, hope it helps!

I feel like the real deal ak-47 is hard to find in seed form. Talking about the ak from the 90s and early 2000s. Serious seeds had pretty legit ak-47 but I think they lost the original male or something. Now it pretty much just a cherry kush. The old school ak fucking reeked, like really stunk, and not just some fruity/cherry terps, it was a rancid stink and got you absolutley ripped. The serious seeds ak from the early to mid 2000s was the real deal but from what I heard they have now is an imitation.AKBeansBrains... Has some really killer Original genetics from the 80s and 90s. Funny you should ask, I was just thinking about them, yes I have run them and my friend has as well got really good results I recall. I have 2 packs of their gear, pack of Raindance and cookies n chem from like 3 years ago. I haven't run them and didn't really want to because of all the shit being said about there genetics over in there forum. Think people were having issues with herms, questions about legitimacy of there genetics, ect. Like I said we had good result but only ran 2 packs. I'd honestly go with some others myself. Other good breedes with solid genetics are, secret seed co., 3rd coast genetics, and fresh coast seed co., envy genetic and compound genetics. The list I gave plus these breeders above is all you need to really grow some high quality flower. You could close you eyes and throw a dart for what to choose and still land some high end dank.lucky you have an hvac friend

Anyway great in depth post bro
Did you grow the chem x BooI wouldnt have ordered the Arcata Trainwreck because the order comes with a free promo pack of 3 of them. You might be able to send Bad Dawg a message and change to a different strain unless you want 9 trainwreck seeds.
I also would have gotten the Chemdog x bag of oranges instead of just the bag of oranges unless you are searching for the insanely orange flavor strain...
Absolutely gorgeousAwesome setup. Very creative. Beautiful results.
Amazing result. How much money did it take you to grow such an impressive creature? I am going to test some strains that are good for working - Amnezia Haze, ChemDawg, Harlequin, and some others from this list https://askgrowers.com/blog/10-best-strains-to-work-from-home. Working from home while COVID makes e boring and I lose motivation and the results are not as good as expected. I think cannabis can help me. If I like some of these strains and if I like their effects, I'll grow them. And I'll come to Seedsman. I have already tested Zkittlez and I liked it. Recommend to try.
