This was your first statement. Ok, I'll restate, it makes him a potential self-proclaimed traitor.
No, I don't think that they weakened their countries position as they left the White House and this guy is doing just that. When you negotiate you negotiate from a position of strength, that means not making the opening salvo or not to do it with a subordinate besides it is in poor taste to say the very least.
He rushed through the new START treaty and let it sit on hold until it suited the Russians needs. And now he is asking the Russians to give him some 'space' in a bold faced attempt to solicit a foreign country's help in an attempt to manipulate the American voters. That to me is a TRAITOR.
He is telegraphing what he will do if he wins the election and that is very scary.

I would just like to point out that the government isnt in place to do anything for you. They are not the salvation army. Their job is to provide national defense against other countries and protect our constitutional rights. Everything else is fair game. If you think you can do a better job than shit by all means jump on the campaign wagon and Ill throw you your first $100 to run. Just remember that change is nearly impossible in the current state the party's work. You are either republican or democrat. Pick a side and STFU because you aint getting nothing done, no one is no matter what they say. The only way it would happen is if by some miracle every seat in congress, senate, presidency is occupied by people who think alike and all view every issue in the same way. Otherwise not going to happen

They do what they do. Some of us have been fortunate to have legal mmj and other things done that help us. Obama cant do much without the real power behind whats going on approving it, big money. Little difference between him and the other candidates in that way. Im sure he has his own ideas but ultimately he does what hes told. Him , Congress they have too much to lose and much to gain. They all play the game. This is nothing compared to the sellout of our manufacturing jobs to foriegn countries.

You obviously need to go reread history. We are excalty the same as in the past. WE HAVE BEEN EXPANSIONIST since before Washington. Moving west, eyeing Canada, The Monroe doctrine kicking all eastern hemisphere countries out of the western hemisphere, war with Mexico, Panama canal, replacing every democratically elected official in South America with dictators, CIA's first covert operation of rigging Italian elections so communist did not win, Not helping in Vietnam because France did not want to give up colonial power, Marshal plan, the entirity of the Cold War, Collective security... I could go on all day. Stop pretending America is something its not.
Cause even Thomas Jefferson played the game too but he wanted to hang out with the French and thank god we went with the British instead.
I would say every single president since the dawn of the 1900's if not before has had this conversation with a foreign leader before an election year. Its just dealing with reality.
