trimming leaves in flowering?

but what about the weak ass shoots they will not produce any flowers cuz they get barely any light, i know i should have done this before 12/12 but its too late for that im wondering if it will effect my yield by trimming them off.???
ther are ppl that do this bc they want the nutrients to be focused on the main buds, so u eliminate the popcorn nugs and get bigger colas, for me i like the popcorn nugs, gotta have sumthin to smoke while ur buds r curing

I Give plants several days of darkness before i chop and I NEVER REMOVE FANS until they die. their is no point Just because you cannot see it does not mean the light is not penetrating. You can always "move" them, I think its a tendency to want to improve something by doing something. Just leave the plant alone <3

Have you ever grown tomatoes?

leave the fan leafs alone. what the hell do you guys think makes the buds? allowing more light to the buds? NO.
when growing fruit do you prune off all the leafs so you can have the light hit the fruit? NO why? because the fruit does not need to receive light the leafs do. less leaf=less bud

I understand we're not growing tomatoes but you get my point.

no it wnt effect yeild just make sure u kno how to judge the branch ur trimming dnt wanna lose ne big buds
well thats what im saying, i have a few shoots pretty much under the canopy getting barely light and if i dont trim the shoots they will have little to no flower at all in the end. but ur sayin it wont effect the large flowers i have already going on???
edit: 4 weeks into 12/12

i would help you caveman if i knew the answer, i am quite curious to know what the answer is because i am having the same problem. i have some branches at the bottom of my plant which have little flowers and i want to cut it because i would prefer my plant waste its energy on the bigger nugs, but i also dont want to cut it and cause my plant to stress then turn into a hermie, so to play it safe i just left it there. rather be safe then sorry

yea dude same here i left the bottom ones getting no light so i hooked up sum cfl to get the best i can out of it.

i got all of my cfls hitting all of the major bud sites. there is really no light hitting the bottom of the plant\

here is a picflowerin1.jpg

yeah this is my first, my next grow i plan on buy a 400w hps light and growing a couple plants 12/12 from seed.

Sweet you will love that, if theres any question you might have just hit me up or swing by my journal links in the
Bottom by my sig, peace

thanks man i will for sure keep it in mind

The CFL's should work. You can certainly remove some of the fan leaves, but I'd say only the ones that will give the lower nugs a direct path of light. The lower CFL's are the way to go though, that's what I do. Also, there's never anything wrong with harvesting the top and giving the bottom a little while longer to mature. Cut just above the nugs you want to get more light and they will fatten up. Give that a try, you'll thank me, I've gotten at least an extra half oz off a plant before turning popcorn nuggets into denser heavier nugs.

i dont really understand how i would cut the nugs from the top and keep the plant plant aliv to make the smaller nugs more dense
