TRUMP CONVICTED

When I encounter an unfamiliar term, I generally look it up. I’ve learned by this procedure. So when the search comes up blank, I consider it courteous to ask.
Scion of a text-based world….

Been talking about related w/ roomie, about kids (me) who spent hours with dictionaries, encyclopedias, endlessly curious, always learning…roomie’s son, 14, was sneering at us who didn’t grow up with “the entire knowledge of humanity at [our] fingertips” - this from a kid who has never looked up anything But video game/StarWars/Minecraft/5 Nights @Freddy’s minutia (talks of nothing else, and never stops until THE ENTIRE ROOM is yelling at him (“y’don’t have to MEAN about it!”), then starts again three breaths later)…).

yup, I’ve run into kids of my offspring’s generation who will argue minutiae of Star Wars canon as well as World of Warcraft and Elder Scrolls (or reel off the hundreds of SCP items by number, in order) … but look at the quadratic equation like it was Linear B.

I don’t know what to make of it. It screams decadence to me, but perhaps I suffer the common ailment of all old-timers. “Kids these days.”

Of course, he will run from his cell, whether he wins the GOP nomination or not, it will be the big house versus the Whitehouse, perhaps as a bull moose candidate if the republicans get rid of him before the election. Thrilling news for the republican powers that be, other candidates for nominee will be muscled out and they might be left high and dry with a candidate in prison or jail by election day. Worse Donald could run as a bull moose independent with his own slate of endorsed candidates dividing the base. He will say the nomination was stolen from him, they cheated them and are RINOs who "sold out". Either way it looks like a disaster for the republicans in 24, Donald should be running around loose for quite a while, if he doesn't fuck up and end up in a DC jail pending trial. As the walls close in Donald will grow more frantic and desperate, he will demand loyalty from the republicans in congress even as the indictments stack up and the court cases begin.

If he is imprisoned, I predict the p&vinegar will be taken right out of him. I consider his running (except from reality) in a cell to be unlikely.

He’s a sociopath. To have his self-concept so plainly contradicted by the fact of his conviction and sentencing … he’s a brittle man, and that is a shattering strain.

New indictment shows criminal cover-up: Trump co-conspirator says "boss" wants "servers deleted"

116,428 views Jul 28, 2023 #TeamJustice
It seems that Donald Trump and his co-conspirators have not learned the primary lesson of Watergate: if the crime doesn't get you, the cover-up will.

A new indictment shows that Donald Trump's co-conspirators, Walt Nauta and Carlos De Oliveira, discussed how "the boss wants the servers deleted." This attempt to destroy evidence came AFTER the Department of Justice subpoenaed the surveillance video footage on those servers.

This video does a deep dive into the admissibility of co-conspirator statements, and explains why De Oliveira's statement about "the boss" - Donald Trump - instructing others to "delete the servers" will be sharply incriminating ADMISSIBLE evidence against Trump himself.

It will be the only way he can get out of federal prison, get the nomination or make a deal with the republican who gets it not to run. He could crack however, but I figure he will run from his cell, there won't be much for him to do or say from there. Much depends on when he actually ends up in a cell or under some form of close arrest. The timing of all this with the election in 24 is getting very interesting and potentially disastrous for the republicans as they try to get out from under Donald as he goes down, freaking out all the way....

Not many from the democratic side are howling for speedy justice, now that it is before the courts they don't say much. Joe seems happy with the pace of events and the republicans dare not say a peep about it! This will be the worst possible scenario for the republicans going into the election and the timing of things can make it very bad indeed.

That does not for one second mean that most Democrats don’t want speedy justice!

I didn’t and don’t think that tactical timing is a consideration to either Democrats or DOJ.

The DOJ is conducting a criminal prosecution and not a political one. They know they have a good case. They know that letting the schedule rush them into a mistake is probably defendant Trump's only hope. But do go on. "Trump running his campaign from prison." It wasn't going to happen but do go on.

The people in the video linked below say as much and explain why better than I can. As they said, before the new charges and new defendant were added, the schedule went against completing the trial before the election. With this news, there is little chance that the trial will even start before the end of 2024, much less before the election is held.

I don't think it makes a difference. Trump isn't going to win in '24. He's going to cause a body count with all his inflammatory, violent rhetoric but he's not going to do better in '24 than he did in '20. He described the margin that Biden won by as -- "a massive landslide". Let the people decide Trump's fate and when they vote for Biden.

Maybe so, but it sure is working out that way and since Jack took over not many are complaining on the democratic side. I'm more commenting and speculating on the timing of events and their consequences than the motives of the DOJ, but I think Jack would like to try Trump before the election. That has more to do with the public's right to know though, Trump made it all about politics and will for as long as he can. Jack also has to work subtilty in the court of public opinion and when Trump whined about being searched, the DOJ released the famous photo of the secret docs among other public filings.

As I said the timing of all this is very bad for the GOP and not just Trump and having Trump run around loose is screwing the GOP the most. He might not be convicted of anything by election day, but he sure as Hell will be indicted, probably over 100 times and some cases should get to trial at least. Donald also has to deal with DC judges when he is indicted over J6 and they have standing rules there concerning the conduct of the indicted.

LOL.

You describe me as a teenager and up to age 22. Although I was much more up to date about TSR's rules regarding saving throws, spells, monsters and damage by weapon, I never missed voting in an election and knew enough to see through Republican rhetoric. I probably learned more about how to tell if a person was lying across a game table than I did through the news.

Your grand kids sound like they have fine minds and are creative, imaginative young adults.
