Want to make the nation better? Get rid of McD's and don't treat it like a career.
If its in English, thank a soldier.
Das Boot
.
McDonald is a cancer, same as Wal mart..no argument. But the ruling class love them, they never go there of cause.

"if its in English thank a soldier"? What about Russian, French, etc etc etc etc etc ete ct. Kind of insulting to allot of countries after such a well written post and wasnt needed.

So it's OK for a multinational corporation to pay their employees essentially slave wages because I'm "pro-welfare" and "it's just a small amount of the tax burden" anyway..

So you have an obvious double standard for who you consider to be "welfare queens". You're only against it when poor people get it, but when rich people get tax breaks or government handouts paid for by taxpayers, then that's OK..

This is why your side is losing this argument and the wages will rise whether you like it or not. People see right through the glaring hypocrisy in your position, they see the massive amounts of wealth and income inequality (not seen since the Great Depression), and they're tired of begging for scraps.
Its a job. You apply and a working price is agree upon. Welcome to the work force.

Equivocal exchange is Utopia. All work is not equal and should not be treat as such. I am not going to pay my cooks the same as dishwashers. I am not going to pay servers to ask someone what they want then walk it to them. We pay cooks more than dishwasher because they have a skill job and health codes to follow. I charge you $16 for apps, $30 for entrees, $8-15 for desert, $12/drink, then you tip your waitress for asking you what you want and walking it to you table so they don't have to get up. Cooks make $8-13 (even in NYC). They are skilled workers that produce a highly valued commodity and have put years of their lives to put food on a plate. They worked long hard hours for very little pay. Their compensation was the education and work ethic instilled in them. There is no way you can work for me and not move up in life. That is my responsibility to them, an education in the field they feel so passionately about. Those that make the cut get the bump to $15 as an hourly manager. That even is entry level management. McD employees can not go out and use their job as a reference unless they were a manager (first and only job is the exception) because they did not learn a skill. Frozen, pre packaged, pre-portioned food. They are not allowed to uese their own judgement because everything that that would require has already been done. Real talk, McD and others like it are more like a candy stores because they don't really do anything except make you less hungry and more fat. There is no nutrition plan to make McD healthy except to eat less of it. McD hamburger surrounded by healthy shit they don't serve is great marketing.

Would $15/hour instill a sense of pride in low income jobs? No, because it is a joke.

Why are we bitching about the pay rate when we should be wondering why they are still in an entry level job that provides no skill. The mail room at an office park offers more opportunity.

I worked in Kitchens and you must be making a furtune at those prices and so little in wages. You can afford to pay them all a few dollars more and everyboday is happy. if everyone in your town did that you would even sell more orders. win, win.

I started as a kitchen hand in the late 80s and was on $12 an hr....

anyway..im off to do a few hrs work. been fun so far.

Nobody is espousing that position

If a job isn't worth paying someone the minimum amount necessary to keep them from having to use social welfare programs that are funded by taxpayers to survive, it isn't worth having. All jobs, regardless of the work, should earn full time employees a living wage. There are always going to be jobs in society that are low skill, the fact that they're low skill does not justify paying them less than what is minimally required for someone to survive.

My job and my experience isn't being outsourced
My job is getting squeezed and the unions are under attack. My corporate overlords would rather pay nothing and get inexperienced operators ( I didn't say machinists) and eat the losses from scrap than pay experienced people a good wage. I'm making good money now because I was working 7 days a week. NO fucking more. I'm out looking for another job and keeping my part time one that pays decent wages
Fuck all you low life Republican scum bags. You are destroying people just to get better returns for your shareholders.

I live in America. It is more of joke than anything. There is good movie "A Fish Called Wanda" where Kevin Klein walked out of an English families house (John Clease) telling them to thank an American because they could all be speaking German. I do offend, not to hurt, but to draw attention to the bounds of ridiculous up to the extreme, that way we can set perimeters to talk within. Russian or French? Never been, wasn't born there, history said we bailed them out, twice since Russia dropped out of the 1st world war to establish MARXIST communism and install Joseph Stalin (well, he was around the top before he took over as dictator). *Joking* if not for Americans, Ruskie and French would be spoken with a German accent.

So vote for REAL change: Bernie Sanders, because Mrs Clinton has made her allegiances very clear, and they aren't towards you and other wage earners.

The fact that you'd consider voting for someone who does not have your needs in mind.
So far it looks like CLinton is going to be the nominee
I'm not STUPID enough to write Sanders in if he isn't the Nominee
Understand that?
I'll repeat it
IM NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO WRITE IN SANDERS IF HE IS NOT THE NOMINEE IN NOVEMBER

No, you're stupid enough to vote for someone who won't represent you.

Free college means experienced laborers will be too expensive. There has to be a weeding out process. Just like the teachers, tenure cost more than turnover.
I think minimum wage as entry level is not disputed. But it should be a livable wage.

In regard to "robots and such" taking over. Thats going to happen anyway. Its been happening since the industrial revolution and will continue to happen. Its not so much the wage costs its the accounting and rostering and sickness side and day to day effecncy that it brings. They can work 24/7 and not have a break.
It destroyed the country and it will slowly destroy the cities economies.

People having 2 jobs; Thats great but if the first job paid a livable wage then we would could have 1/2 the unemployed, as two jobs may mean 2 employed people. Both spending disposable income and paying tax.

An example in one of my business that reflect the much talked about $15 an hr mark:
One of my bushiness is cleaning. Specializing in rental bond cleans for real estates and some commercial cleaning (just started branching into that side). I charge out a employee at $35 an hr. I pay them $15 an hr. Its no big deal.

I see know one is debating the economics of it. The whole argument against is based on "feelings" and "what others say" and "its not fair cause i only earn ".

A min livable hourly rate is fair. It should of already been in place and linked to inflation. (which would help the inflation issue). It wasnt due to greed of the "policy makers" who want us all broke, uneducated and slaving for them.

Its fair and is economically sound. Scary for some? Yes.

I like what you said. I just have the experience, because I've been there done that, that a pure interest in something will lead to a career. I have worked, seen people work, known people that work for free or nothing. I have to work a 12 shift in a kitchen as an "audition" in order to apply. If you want to be in radio, go to the station and start sorting mail. If you want to be a lawyer, go to a firm and start sorting mail, ask some question about the subject, show interest, then ask for a scholarship.

How much do you think Chef Keller pays the cooks at The French Laundry? Roux bothers? Chef Ferran Adrià (because american will cash a months paycheck to go work for free)? Nothing, they pay nothing because anyone that is allowed to work for them has the ability to learn form them and will automaticlly better themselves just by being in the presence of greatness. Now if you fuck up during the shift you are done. So don't fuck up. You have to give a lot to get a little but that little bit adds up.

...while doing all the work.

America will not tolerate an aristocratic class for long. Share the wealth or the rich will swing from trees.
Damn dawg, you from NYC or something. I will not share with you because it's mine, worked for it, sold hours of my life to make it and you have done nothing to show me you deserve it. I don't know how you feel, but my time is more important to me than you are. I have people I am responsible for, care about, and love that respect my time and effort and know the value it has to us.
I understand you don't mind Hilary sitting at the same desk Monica used to sit under, but I don't trust someone that uses their Yale law degree to run distraction for a husband that has so many sexual assaults against him as Rape is defined and understood today ( not good ol' grandpa's kind of rape). But even that comment came from over PC policies started by her. Not to mention her failing as Secretary of State (Her Only Real Job), her implication in Whitewater scandel, and union busting while working for Goldman Sachs.

She has my best interest in heart?
If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.

Everyone’s worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there’s really an easy way: Stop participating in it.

The more you can increase fear of drugs and crime, welfare mothers, immigrants and aliens, the more you control all the people.

Education is a system of imposed ignorance.

The 1950s and 1960s had been a period of enormous growth, the highest in American history, maybe in economic history.

The United States is unusual among the industrial democracies in the rigidity of the system of ideological control - 'indoctrination', we might say - exercised through the mass media.

"The Obama campaign greatly impressed the public relations industry, which named Obama ‘Advertising Age’s marketer of the year for 2008,’ easily beating out Apple computers. A good predictor of the elections a few weeks later. The industry’s regular task is to create uninformed consumers who will make irrational choices, thus undermining markets as they are conceptualized in economic theory, but benefiting the masters of the economy. And it recognizes the benefits of undermining democracy in much the same way, creating uninformed voters who make often irrational choices between the factions of the business party that amass sufficient support from concentrated private capital to enter the electoral arena, then to dominate campaign propaganda."

Control of thought is more important for governments that are free and popular than for despotic and military states. The logic is straightforward: a despotic state can control its domestic enemies by force, but as the state loses this weapon, other devices are required to prevent the ignorant masses from interfering with public affairs, which are none of their business…the public are to be observers, not participants, consumers of ideology as well as products."

None of that bullshit addresses the right of a human being to get a living wage for working a full time job.

If Sanders doesn't get the democratic nomination. Are you going to vote for Clinton?
if the answer is NO. Then you are truly a stupid fuck
I'll use my vote for its real purpose- which is not to choose which uncaring overlord gets to run the country for the benefit of those who would continue to exploit me.

Stupidity would be believing that Mrs Clinton will do a damn thing to help you.
