Veg questions

So I'm looking to do a winter grow but wanted to get the best outta it and was thinking maybe veg tem for a few weeks till there a foot or 2 tall then throw them out to flower? How big of a light would I need to get a few seeds startedaybe 3 seeds and ill do a few at a time. And would it make a big difference whether I threw them straight outside or if I veg them inside first.? Any help is appreciated!

Lights.. well that's it up to the wallet i guess. What is the most you can spend on a light?
Ebay has some Apollo 400w MH/HPS setups for under $100
less than that.
well you're looking at CFL lighting, and maybe a 150w HPS all in one unit if you have a local grow shop.


What is the space you plan to use. that is more important than the lights.
because certain lights in small spaces will require more money spent on fans and ducting.

ok we'll ill let you know the info I know as of now I'm preparing right now so getting everything together but I'm planting on building a 10x10 green house or a 5x5 depends on the cash flow then I go get the products. I live in central Cali in Santa Barbara county and I was thinking of getting some blue cheese and emerald jack fem seeds. Think I would even need to veg indoor? And I I needed I would get a small Heater if it gets to cold. What do you think the yield would be and what size pots should I get you think not trying to get a 20
gallon pot if its only gonna use 5 gallons of that

As long as it is not snowing during your winter, you can plant out for sure ;)
I do most of my breeding in the winter ;)
If you are not planning to grow that big, just veg them up a little under some Fluoro's and put them out and they will go into flowering cycle.
If they are movable and you have a dark area (and you have the time) put them outside first thing and bring them in before dark and under the lights for 6-8 hours for veg ;)

I am a big fan of combo growing, moving them in and outside everyday. You have the problem of day light hours to think of. You will have until the 21st of Dec. with shorter days and then they will start getting longer again. Once this starts to happen your girl will want to reveg, so you have to have a set dark period. So it just depends on the timeframe of your grow and flower along with the amount of work you are willing to put into it. Personally it is worth the time and work to have the big ole sun working for me during the day and the safety of the indoors for the nights. Wish you the best of luck.
 
So it's more worth it to put them under a light n veg then first over jus throwing the seeds out what would be the yield difference from doing that
 
go with autoflowers and you wont have to worry about how many daylight hours they are getting
 
not if you have good genetics, at first autos were poor yielding and poor smoke but years of breeding have lead to modern "super" autos which can yield just as well as photoperiod plants and smoke just as good.
Get your self some good yielding genetics and auto's can be very rewarding. Check out the autoflower section of the forums or the strain review section and im sure you'll find something you like.
Personnaly I recommend Auto Seeds as a breeder since they specialize in breeding autos and ive had great success with the seeds before

What is the yield like with n auto? N would there be a noticeable difference between the 2 if I threw 2 seeds out one auto n one fem?
 
If I jus threw the seeds out and never used suplimental lighting you think i will come out with a decent amount of yield? Like a few ounces each plant? I jus wanna make sure it's gonna be worth it to do this since my other crop seems to not be doing so well with bud worms and mold.

If you have done a bit of reading and researching, you will find the terms '12/12 from seed' & '12/12 from clone' grow journals.
There are many factors to the outcome of the yield just like in any grow, but it will give you a ballpark idea of what to expect ;)

As mentioned in a recent newbie thread, Auto's have come along way in development and can be grown year round outdoor, but with the disadvantage that you will have to create your own seed supply or it would become much more costly in the long run to continue running perpetually, unlike cloning of regular cannabis strains.

If you are having issues with mold, then it is ideal to select a strain that is suitable to your climate. While there are strains that are very mold resistant regardless of climate, selection can make life a lot easier ;)
As for pests, there are many treatments available to keep these nasties at bay... I recommenced Tea Tree oil as a foilar spray (5 drops of pure oil to every cup of water)

For bud worms? Tea tree oil? Ill try that it's all Natral and how close to harvest can I use that and ill have to try making my own strains I guess and try that. And the grow threds show growing in the winter outside right after the summer harvest? Thank you very much jimmy for our help!

Sorry dude this is a load of rubbish... growers utilize winters shorter day to successfully grow outdoors...the plant will not go into reveg until April or even May...I run a six week veg...and have put them out to flower in mid Feb and they finish up by the end of April
ps...I've done it here in FLA numerous times

aright for sure so you start from seed outside? Or you veg inside for 6 weeks then throw them outside?
