Very well could be... one solution would be two res... one for high and one for low... but yeah i already thought about how the reservoir for the top shelves would have to be over their level (meaning probably almost 4' up) -- another option would be the automated blumats but a bit more expensive option as those require a pump... still haven't taken cuts

Small pumps are easy to come by. And you could pump from bottom res to top, with a gravity return. Toss in an airstone or so, and route through the timer, then you're set.(assuming its a digital timer, set at once a week or sooner.)

just tossing out ideas..

Gotta figure out something :) Just hesitant to invest in the blumat thing and then find out it's not gonna work well for my situation...

Pics from last night... these are the top shelf girls... I just did a their final tie down.... still haven't found time to do cuts... probably tomorrow... still have to tie down and water the bottom plants (prob tonight).

They are packing on the frost now!!! I just went and checked and the genius x deep chunk above is even frostier now.. hella frosty, maybe the frostiest of all of them... the good news is, one of the ace of spades is packing on the frost now as well -- and it's the only one I have a cut of in veg!!!! the frost on it looks a lot like the pheno you had owl that was SOOO frosty... and it's still developing!!! i don't remember those two being as frosty last night so guessing that they are just hitting that stage of development when they go from early frost to packing on the frost :) It's time to water'em so I'm going in there to do my thing shortly... I got all my stuff prepared for doing cuttings in the morning after they've had a little chance for water and nutes to start getting absorbed. Anyway I'm SUPER psyched that the AoS in veg is so far showing as the frostiest AoS pheno in flower, not that any of them are lacking... and hopefully they'll all pack that much on eventually and are just a bit behind this one... but if that's the case that just means this pheno'll probably be a faster finishing pheno... gonna be doing some stem rubbing on her for sure :)

Some heavy duty flower you got there. So beautiful...I imagine the smell matches the sight. Looks like THanksgiving is gonna be a wonderful time for the feast at hand.

On a side note you watch the walking dead? Sunday is the beginning of season 3!!!!

Hell yeah!! Walking dead is one of the shows both my wife and I enjoy watching together. Smell is pretty low due to odor control... most of the plants are ranging from skunky/funky to fruity when you do stem rubs. Just got done watering... everyone's looking real good and starting to fatten up/stack buds at the colas. I probably won't get a chance to take pics again til the day after tomorrow, so hoping the frost really comes on... just watered'em again so they definitely have fuel... i am loving this pure blend metabolic bloom... 100% organic (unlike their pro formula), doesn't burn the plants, but appears to give them everything they need. It's balanced N-P with lower K, so I'm thinking it's going to be good through week 4-5, then I may switch to foxfarm big bloom with has lower N and higher P & K for a week or two to pack on some weight. Then the last 2-3 weeks it'll be straight water. Really loving how this grow is going so far... could be the best, although it's going to be hard to top super soil yields I think. We'll see. So far the buds are probably ahead of where they were last grow in super soil.

Yeah I will probably have a big shit eating grin at thanksgiving this year :) this year i will probably not eat a bunch of space cake for breakfast and be hazy all day :) I am planning on getting back into the medibles once I get this harvest in and have way more than I can go through on my own :) I do a lot of the cooking for the fam and like to expiriment... planning on trying to get the medibles right... my problem is dosage... I always either get too light a dosage and feel practically nothing or too much and knock myself out :) I'd love to switch from smoking primarily to primarily edibles for health but i just can't seem to get it to work for me... but maybe with expirimentation...

Nice... only got 3 plants done this morning... 3 cuts each and trimmed. Got a TON of trim and branches off the apollo... hardly anything off the AoS and just a bit off the big CQ.

Anyway, news of the day is first AoS pheno I trimmed (Aos #1) had purpling bottom buds! black cherry pheno!

It truly is an epic show... My fiance and I watch it all the time together...We truly get locked in and end up having to fight the anticipation of next weeks episode......It sounds like they will be some healthy plants with no nitro built up...definitely the way to go....Do you ever end up adding any of the mcyochrozzaes ? Have you thought about mixing up and cooking a batch of super soil? I know when I get out to Co. that is what I plan on doing while fixing up my grow room. I wanna do a super soil and a hydro set up and do some side by side comparisons when I first start... I am going to have to make a thread for my grow room design...I like to think it is pretty legit but only time will tell with critique.

I did super soil last grow and loved it... so easy once I backed off trying to add nutes and went with just plain water :) my main mistake was that in an attempt to keep'em green and not push I topdressed with extra super soil too late into flower... and maybe did molasses too late too... i can definitely tell there was too much N at harvest... not bad at all but not near as smooth as it could be.

i'm gonna be mixing more super soil at some time in the next month or so.... just a question of timing (and when I want to spend the $$ on more dirt/nutes) - probably when I get paid next.

By contrast the AoS and CQ were smoother than some of the plants that have been curing for 5 months, even with a lot of leaf material in'em :)

Posted this in another thread but wanted to make sure it's here too :)

  • I tried day 24 toaster dried fluffy mini bottom buds this morning.... notes:

    1. CQ was solid, nice body buzz, bakey and euphoric
    2. AoS - first, it's a black cherry soda pheno, I saw purple in the little bottom buds and there's some purple in the stems/stalk. Second, it melted my face. Seriously, I felt like I got facial numbing injections at the dentist almost. I was seriously baked, but still functional (mostly).
    3. I'd take either of these at present potency level at harvest and call it a success. This was no clear high lacking potency. I can't imagine or wait to see what they are going to be like when fully matured, dried and cured. At this point, all I am waiting on is yield and extra kick
    Potency CQ 7/10, AoS 8.5/10
    4. Taste on both was phenomenal... CQ had kind of an earthy cocoa/dark chocolate taste and the AoS had a light/minimal taste with hints of berry... both smoked very clean considering they get nutes every watering. Taste 9/10
    5. Duration - both longer lasting than most of my other strains... i've pretty much been baked all day even taking hours at a time off... last hit it around 2.5 hours ago... i usually don't stay baked for hours on end unless I smoke large amounts of my usual stuff and even then not usually this baked this long.
    6. It's still early, but so far AoS is the new contender for favorite strain... it has everything you could want just about in a hybrid. Good body without the couchlock, uplifting and euphoric, medicinal qualities... all it needs to be a keeper for me is to have very little or no tolerance buildup... that is always the trick though... tons of strains good when you first smoke'm... how are they when you've been smoking'em a while?

Still high 4.5 hours later fyi :) Gonna try some apollo sample buds shortly maybe... will be taking more cuts this evening... not sure if i'll get through'em all or not.

I got a heat mat for the humidity dome... (heat was an issue before)... i put a towel in between the mat and the dome (as recommended by hydro guys), but it was still in upper 80s when I got home (and looked like a tropical rain forest in the dome moisture everywhere)... possibly because i left the dome closed all the way i opened the vents just a little to make sure some air got in... so looks like humidity is good... i folded the towel twice underneath it so there are 4 layers of towel... hopefully that will get the temps down to around 78-ish. Hopefully the higher heat did not damage the cuts at all... hydro guy said above 80 was real bad for the cuts.

I'm a bit worried that these cuts are going to make it... the stems are not woody per se, but they're very firm not flexible... so wondering if they are going to root well... we'll see.

I am keeping my fingers crossed! Although the other AoS that isn't quite as frosty was just about as good as the finished one above already! I got samples of Aos #4 (above) and Aos#5 (the 5 gallon pot one)... got a bunch from the 5 gallon one... gonna be enjoying them as I watch the season premiere of Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League on FX tonight :) They are both mandatory smokeout shows for me :)

I just took pics of AoS #5 (5 gallon plant) after trimming... i took all the budsites and bud branches off the lower half. I left a few of the fan leaves if they looked like they'd get light and were in good condition (this one has not had much of any yellowing unlike #4 -- probably because I did not give it much of any of the full nutes as it did not need watering then) -- will post them when i'm home from work

Latest update... I did it... I went ahead and moved all the veg plants from seed into the flower room. At first I was only gonna put in the 4 tallest (2' tall) plants in, but then I thought better and decided I want them all in at the same time. The others are definitely big enough for flower, though they probably could've used the extra few days in the veg room I had planned. So... this week has just been so busy (i still haven't even taken cuttings of half the plants), I still haven't gotten the second shelf together. I did get one of the main obstacles for that to happen done and that is I moved the big cabinet (frequently seen in flower room shots) out of the room so the shelf can go there. At the moment all the veg plants are in that side of the room surrounding the light. I'm gonna go ahead and skip painting the shelf for now (will find a time later maybe at harvest) as I can't wait too long to get those plants on it... 9 veg girls from seed. The 4 big ones are sparkle, blue dream x cheese, and 2 of the 'adventure mix' plants (either CH9 or greenhouse -- Kush if they're greenhouse... i think jack maybe if ch9... not sure). So still in the veg room are the 5 clone plants - 2 blueberries, sparkle, romulan and ace of spades. Ace of spades starting to really take off... i still gotta LST her. I'm going to LST the crap out of her and put her into flower when she's ready to drop mega yield. Also not going to put her into flower til I see if my flower cuts take... if not, I gotta make sure to get a cutting of her before flower while still in veg. The other cuts are still pretty small, but definitely growing and healthy. Very dark green from the organic nutes in the soil, but no signs of over-N (ram horns) or burn. The sparkle is almost big enough with enough nodes to start LST'ing... the others not so much. I am thinking that I will veg the crap out of these cuttings and turn them all into beasts and then put them into flower when the first shelf gets harvested... so over a month more of veg -- they are going to be crazy, particularly the AoS... it is probably going to be where I would usually put it into flower in a week or two... and so psyched that it's gonna be a very mature cut (3-4 months old) by the time she flowers. If the flower cuts take and reveg soon enough, they might go in in november as well, but I am guessing they won't be vegged enough by then. So now the internal debate begins over when to pop those new beans... part of me wants to now (even if i start now they won't be ready for harvest til feb), part of me says wait and work the cuttings.... if i waited til i originally planned to do them, they won't be ready til march. I'm thinking I may go ahead to make sure I have a feb harvest otherwise I may not. So yeah, in case you hadn't done the mental math yet: Nov - Harvest AoS, Apollo, Cheesequake from seed, put clones into flower Dec - Harvest plants that went in today, put current flower cuts(monster crop cuts) (& timewreck/chernobyl?) into flower Jan - Harvest Aos/BB/Sparkle/Romulan clones, put next batch of seeds/cuts into flower (TBD) Feb - Harvest monster crop cuts (& timewreck/chernobyl?) Mar - Harvest timewreck/chernobyl if not already + next seed batch (TBD) As far as next batch of seeds, I had planned for Ace of Spades, but with 4 plants going and my current veg one looking like the keeper, not sure it makes sense... then again if I don't get any of the flower cuts from AoS to take and only have the one in veg... might go back to AoS. Anyone wanna make suggestions for my next seed purchase (TGA)
