Learn something new everyday, never heard of them.They're ground cherries. Short plant under a foot tall. Produces small berries in a husk shell that are ripe once they fall onto the ground. A unique flavour similar to tomatillo, but eaten fresh.

Mom had those by her strawberry patch. Orange/red husk. Chinese lanterns if I remember. Didnt know were edible thought ornamental. Huh. Nice garden.They're ground cherries.
