What does it take to yield BIG

Why do I seem to be the only one to think $2500 is plant of money to get this sized grow off the ground?
How much are 4 x's 1000k ballasts and hoods and bulbs? That'll be the biggest chunk of change..
Notes aren't much ime.. 5 gallon buckets are under $5 per..
If you're handy you could easily build some tables and what not..
Idk.. but $2500 sounds like plenty of coin to get this sort of thing off the ground IMO..
Well....keep in mind what the OP asked and what he wants to achieve. He is asking for allot and it almost sounds like there is not allot of experience. IMHO, if he really wants to make this work..it needs to be done right but my thinking might be the exception as I spent the majority of my life in the mechanical engineering field. ..So I have the tendency to think Design, desigh, design...etc. I'm looking at him having to do some framing to break down his space into the necessary rooms for each function and there cannot be any light leaks entering that flower room. Then he has to plan out all the electrical wiring for each room...and that has to be done RIGHT...dont want to overload a run and start melting wire...( Burning down the house ). Then we have to think about Fresh AIR, exhaust, odor control..carbon filters and temp control. That means finding ways to vent out into the atmosphere and possibly pulling fresh air from the outside as well.. ETC..ETC. Then he has to cover the walls....His budget just about disapperaed in that round alone and we still have not got into any growing equiptment.

It is possible that perhaps it could be done with that budget...I dont know that for sure but it Cannot be done to Bears standards with that budget. I dont care who it is...noob or experienced...If you have your indoor micro climate set up for optimum growing conditions....you have half the battle won there alone...the other half is understanding the plant you are growing. Thats just my take on it Racer brother!! :-)

I redesigned my set up this summer and it cost me a nice chunk of change...I will say this...the OP has a good chunk to get started on a very nice set up if he chooses to go the extra mile....It will pay for itself in one good go around!!!

To all u guys saying do research. I do and always still will. I have more then 2500$ but 2500 is for lights and food, I have been building walls in the basement I have 3 rooms built. 9x12 mother room. And the other 2 rooms are about the same size. I raised the floor 2 inches to get off the concrete. I was thinking 6 1000w hps for the flower room. Is that to much for a 9x12 room?

If a space is to big I'll put up another wall and make a storage area to handle supplies and tools. I have a big box animal cage type fan with a hepa filter for my air exchanges after the smell is taken care of.

Just got off the phone with my local hydro store. They will sell me 7 Lumatek 1000w air cooled dimmable ballasts with my coupon for 1500 bucks. My sponsor told me to ask if I needed more money. I think I'm gonna need to get like 2g more.

It can get expensive brody but my advice is do it once and do it right...all you will have to do later on down the line is make minor tweeks to your system.!!!

CHEAP 1kw grow light. 225x4 = $1000

http://www.hydrogalaxy.com/climate-control/exhaust-fans-circulators/vortex-8-747-cfm-powerfan/?gclid=CM-Hg-OS57oCFTBnOgodNE0AxA

8" inline fan, with 4 1k lights you would probably need at LEAST 2, probably more, but I'll say 2. $200 x 2 = $400 up to $800 possibly.

http://www.amazon.com/Phresh-Filter-701018-Minute-39-Inch/dp/B002JU04VY/ref=sr_1_3?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1384530839&sr=1-3&keywords=phresh+filter+8+inch

8" filters for those fans $226x2 = $452

http://www.amazon.com/Organic-Potting-Soil-Forest-FoxFarm/dp/B000AXPUDE

good soil for beginners $37 x 5bags = $185

http://www.buydutchseeds.com/big-bud-marijuana-seeds

big bud (high yield strain) 10 reg seeds $80x 2 + $160

http://www.amazon.com/FX14050-Fertilizer-Nutrient-Hydro-Formula-32-Ounce/dp/B000HY2IXQ

basic nutes from fox farm $50x2 cause its the small bottles = $100

so maybe you guys are right. I guess I didn't think it would buy it all. the total here is $2297 up to $2697 with a fan per light.

if you ran 1x1k in a veg room and 3x1k in a flower room in 5 gal buckets running perpetual you could maybe get 6lbs every 3 months. I dunno if a noob could, I know I definitely couldn't handle a grow that size yet.

just saying.... this is assuming you don't need to re-do the room as a whole. like electrical, framing, etc.

im sure you could vent the basement with one of these, and alls you'd need is ducting, unless you plan on adding a carbon filter. when smell comes into play thats when you're talking more $$$
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-Inch-1068-CFM-HYDROPONIC-MAX-Inline-Fan-Blower-Can-Exhaust-Mixed-Flow-MK-10-/270987922532

id run 4 600w hps and a t5 mothering / clonier and a veg chamber with maybe a MH and t5's

if you really wanna go through with it, figure out the dimensions of each grow chamber you wanna build, and from there you can make an equipment and pricing list.

don't expect that type of yield immediately, but plan everything out so you can expand.

maximize gram per watt with vertical setups!

you could ScrOG out 3 plants, each under its own 3kw light. but you'd need to mirror the whole setup on a smaller scale to veg them under.

In my 4x4.5 grow spot I am around 1000$ deep and it seems there are always other things I want but don't need. I started with a budget of 600 and keep adding 50 here and 75 there and that shit adds up quick. I have a friend that runs hydro and he spent over 6k on his set up and I think i am going to yield more than him per harvest but he runs perpetual so he gets more crops per year but experience can turn a noobs 3oz harvest into 8oz. You said you don't want to lst and all of that, if you don't train them you will never get your goal unless you go outside and grow.

U do not have to lst to get big yields. Some of us r knocking out 4 zips a plant with just 3 weeks of veg from rooted clone. Big pots, light management, over the top conditions, proper plant food. Every one grows different, every one has a style that works for them. This is a never say never adventure were all in here. And u do bring up some very good points. As the old saying goes " styles make fights" so u have to choose your opponents according to u, not what others r saying about their chosen grow space.

I am trying to maintain the pace but it is a LOT of work. I maintain my garden at least 5 hrs if not 8 to 10 some days. And it is using about 200 gallons of soil.. inside,, climate? yeah, there is something to do all the time.

I believe in you man. Aim high and you will eventually make it. With $2500 you could get a set up with a 1400-2000 watt MH and HPS soil setup with some nutes but I doubt that would yield 6lbs. I',m in about $500-$600 with a 400 watt setup but only 5 plants. For 6lbs you probably need more plants and obviously a bigger light meaning higher costs overall.

I've skimmed through this thread and agree that the grower needs to read a bunch, and I commend him for starting this tread to get that information.

Unless I missed it, no-one has mentioned getting used equipment on Craigslist. I got almost all my equipment via C/L and am very happy with what I have for what I paid.

Two light-movers (complete), plus two Easy Cool 6 reflectors = $45
400w MH bulb, fixture, and ballast = $50
4' four-bulb T5HO with bulbs = $50
600w HPS bulb, ballast, and fixture = $100

I know that what I bought doesn't pertain to this thread, but it does give you an idea of what you can get if you shop around on Craigslist. Here's a sample ad I found in 2 minutes: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/grd/4184360544.html

I also know that buying used stuff isn't for everyone...just like car-buyers, some only buy new, some only buy used.

There are people that are selling their entire grow-room equipment including nutrients and buckets for pennies on a dollar. $2,500 can go a very long way if buying used is an option for you.

wish I lived in san diego... search "grow light" in the cities on the east coast and you may find 4 or 5 people selling something, but it's usually over priced, and you could spend a few extra dollars and just buy it new.

Craigslist search hints:

Click on the "For Sale" link....this will include all categories.

In the search box, try these keywords:

"grow"
"HPS"
"T5"

Sure, you'll get a bunch of non-pot growing stuff, but it's easy to skim through to find what you're looking for.

Boston: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/grd/4163121793.html

Philly: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/grd/4165726723.html

NYC: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/grd/4195283735.html

Atlanta: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/grd/4191335821.html

That's just to give you some ideas if you want to get nice stuff for a fraction of retail. Keep in mind there's ALWAYS negotiations to get the price down.

I spent about $1200 on my initial 400W set up, including mistakes, which for two plants yielded 6oz. Not the 6 pounds you're looking for. BUT…I can now use all that equipment to scale-up if I wanted to. My small tent can be a flowering tent or drying tent. I would just need to get a 600W HPS for my larger tent, which would yield more. I could probably start a 2-month cycle perpetual grow, and yield two pounds per harvest. So I would say I could do that and bring my set up up to a $1500 investment. With another $1000 for more lights and a dedicated grow space, I think I could get to 4-6 pounds every two months. And I'm a conservative estimator.

But money isn't the only deciding factor here. You need experience. My suggestion is you plan the best you can for $2000, and hold the $500 back for mistakes and elevating your game on the second grow. I recommend you get a book like The Cannabis Grow Bible, and after reading each chapter write down what you think you need. That will give you both an education and a list. In many areas, you do have choices and you need to educate yourself on those choices and then make a decision.

Good luck!

You can get running on $2500 will not be a professional setup by any means but after every pull figure a certain percentage to put back into your room to make it the room you want it to be and pull the quantity you desire. Best of luck
