Tell him you doing Pottery. You are going to install 2 or more Kilns (ovens). They require MASSIVE amounts of electricity and they have to run for long durations. You'll also need wiring for the pottery wheels, fans and vents. Get him to run at least 2 ~ 20 amp lines with separate breakers (cuts down on your load). Good luck.

the pottery idea is good u could also say you are gonna start blowing glass.....they use the same shit..but alot more intake and exhaust...you also might want to keep in mind you might have to add air conditioning....also in a 8x10 room have you ever thought of using 5-6 600watt hps....you will lower the amps needed and get about the same light...

the pottery thing makes the most sense for me-i also need a fan installed thru cenderblock wall. the pottery "kiln" idea works great

First of all, if you are hiring an elctrician who is doing a "real" job, a permit must be filed. A 'side" job is something different , but not all elec's want the headache of doing "hidden" work (permit wise). Simply file a permit for a home office and get legal with the system.

If you wish to do it yourself, it's not that hard. Someone mentioned aluminium wire and their connection points do tend to loosen over time. Just work the job backwards and make one "live" connection. If you plan it correctly, you shouldn't have to touch one live wire.

Never tell anyone you are growing.

Make sure to specify the kiln will be 120V. You would have to change the breaker and plug if he runs it for 220V (kilns are normally 220V, not always but normally).

Two power runs would be good incase you needed a large heater or a/c unit.

Just tell him you Need lots of power to become a "Weed Baron" and it takes power to make big lights work.

it sorta depends on what you and your crib look like...

you could tell him that you just want 5 or 6 15 amp circuits so you dont have to add more later... tell him you are setting up a shop that will run a large air compressor, or that you are buying your wife a tanning bed or a treadmill, or if you are a nerd you could say you are about to move in a bunch of old school arcade or pinball machines...

i am an electrician and it is simple what you need. tell him you need three 20 amp circuits (i would have each circuit feeding a quad outlet (two gang box with two duplex recepticles).

that should be all you will need. just tell him you plan on having a fridgerator and freezer you want on one circuit, a big screen tv and stereo system on another circuit, and just another spare circuit. that is simple and should totally cover you

im a certified journeyman electrician, 1000 watts isnt really all that much man...nothing a simple 20 amp circuit couldnt handle.....your question may have already been answered as I didnt take time to go through all the previous pages....what are you planning on having the electrician do?? if its just adding a circuit you dont need to tell him anything.... I doubt he will care...lol...air conditioners use a lot of amps.. anyways...give me some details and maybe I could be of some assistance....or maybe this is an old thread...lol...Im not sure...im stoned...lol...:eyesmoke:

go out see if you can find some flower seeds put the packs areund where your having the woork done.tell him that your breading flowers lots of people do that

if he asks why tell him you are going to put in an electric chair. it is none of his business.

Let's say you’re running a Sea Of Green Op rotating 25 plants every 2 weeks(the "get a harvest every 2 weeks op by Al B. Fuct), but instead of 4 trays of 20 plants you will have 8 trays of 20 harvesting 2 trays every 2 weeks. So the setup would include 2 600 watt MH's, (for mothers) 4 1000 watt HPS (for 8 flowering trays), two 6x 18W fluoro tubes (for clones), an inline-fan, Co2 tank, 4 wall mount fans. This will be an ebb & flo system so there will be 10 pumps (2 for mothers, 8 for each 25 plant tray) and all of the timers for the respected devices. If I’m missing something please chime in.

So with this set up I’m assuming that I’ll need about 5200 watts. So if my calculations are correct I will need about 47amps. 47 amps would mean roughly 3.133333 15amp plugs however we can’t look at it that way right? We need dedicated circuits right? Obviously we don’t want to trip breaker so how would you set up your equipment on the each circuit?
